Congratulations to the lucky bidder here! This would be a centerpiece of a collection for sure.

I've met Ralph Baer. He signed the O2 Pinball cart I bought.

Poll: Your Thoughts on Flipping Videogames
Atari_Bill replied to boxpressed's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Not always. When a flipper clicks a BIN and then relists the item using the original seller's picture before he even gets it, that's pathetic. When someone buys 3, 4, maybe 5 copies of that limited release only 20 made and immediately posts it on ebay after they sell out for 5-10x the normal price that's pathetic. I have little patience and will not deal with such people personally. -

I can respect someone that builds their collection this way. I can even accept flipping some of your finds when it takes that amount of effort to get them. Bravo to you! 90% of my collection was built this way and it's not easy, I'll tell you that. My major issue in flipping is the person sitting at the computer (or smartphone these days) watching like a vulture for anything underpriced on an auction site, in the AA marketplace, or espcially folks snapping up as many of the limited releases as possible to immediately turn them around and put it to the people that didn't have the opportunity to buy them originally. -
Funny / Stupid / Crazy / Lame Auction Listings
Atari_Bill replied to nofrills100's topic in Auction Central
I've seen this seller with other auctions. He is absolutely psychotic. Not even slightly based in reality. -
I saw that he gave good feedback to the original owner. I couldn't beleive he was happy to get them at that price! There were some nice boxes in that lot, but they're nothing more than art now with the ends cut off. Sad.

CIB Mr. Boston over at 2600.com
Atari_Bill replied to Blazing Lazers's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
That's only a month's worth of collecting $$$ to some people. (not me!) -
I'd give my left arm for this console, but not the arm and a leg that's being asked here! Especially in incomplete condition. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 170972254617

Only 1 Which Witch that I know of, but I'm pretty sure I have a few Mummy's. I do know that they all have issues with the record player though (as most do). I'll keep you in mind when I manage to dig them out again.

Some truth to what you are saying here. As appealing as it is to begin collecting things like PS1 on up, I've got to draw the line somewhere. Too little space to deal with my collection as it is. With the exception of my virtual boy, the NES is as new as I will go. -
Wow, that is sweet! That is one I've never seen. Nice pickup! I don't have a ton of the arcade based board games, but several decent ones such as Arcade Mania, Turtles, Dragon's Lair, Centipede, and Zaxxon off the top of my head. Mostly the mainstream stuff. I've always been a bit partial to board games. I was pretty into them maybe 10 years ago and have boxes of them in the basement that I haven't messed with in some time. I do remember copies of Dark Tower, Voice of the Mummy, and Which Witch down there.

I love (and collect) the arcade board games myeself. You got several on your list that I didn't know even existed. Thanks now I gotta hunt them down LOL! The Electronic Arcade Mania is pretty cool. I have a MIB copy of it, but never really realized it had any rarity.

Drive over to pick up. Kansas City's not that much of a haul if it's that much of a must have. 12-15 hours.

Poll: Your Thoughts on Flipping Videogames
Atari_Bill replied to boxpressed's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I disagree personally. I got into this hobby as a cheap collecting option as other items I had been collecting had increased to the point of pricing me out of the market. I've always been a completist and the idea of "completing" collections at such a low cost via garage sales, thrift, and flea markets appealed to me greatly. In the 90's and early 2000's it was bliss. Since then however, local thrifts and sales are absolutely stalked by folks with the ebay selling addiction. As items are no longer available locally, the primary options to fill the few holes in my collection are auction sites. What little I still need is no longer priced even close to my price range so at this point I'm frustrated enough to consider leaving. Being a purist, reproductions are not of any interest to me. I was a gamer from at least starting in 1977 so this stuff appeals to me in many ways even though I unfortunately have no time in life to actually play them anymore. I personally would have rather kept this hobby low key / low cost / no profit as I don't sell or flip items. I'm sure I'm in the minority here though. -

I've hated this practice for as long as I've collected anything. Flipping as per your definition leads to escalating levels of greed within a hobby driving prices up and consequently driving collectors out. There's obviously no way to prevent the practice, but if I had something for sale at a reasonable price and the person asking to buy it was known to me to do this, I wouldn't sell to them. -
I could see that as a definite possibility, but assuming what he's spent to acquire an unbelievably complete collection over the course of less than a year, I don't think he would have that much trouble finding someone that he could pry these games from.

...and yet it sold??? Wow! -
Wow, that was a great idea on the score color coding! Thinking outside the box on that. I'm just soooo non-creative. I envy people that come up with that kind thing. Liduardo, way to go. Very nice score!

I've never seen the label for X Man look like that before. I'd be waaaaay too suspicious of this. Especially since he has multiple Halloween and TCM's.

What is your goal for 2013 (intv speaking)
Atari_Bill replied to maximebeauvais's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
My Intellivision goals for 2013 include: 1. Getting a box / instructions for my Thin Ice cart. I had one purchased on ebay earlier this month for a great price but the seller fell through on it. 2. Building my Sears CIB collection. I only have about half CIB for Sears. I can do much better than that. As a side goal (not sure if it's achievable or not but I'll try anything possible to reach it) acquire Deep Pockets my all time #1 want list item. -
Not worth anywhere near that in the condition they are in. I've never retracted a bid on ebay before and typically would never condone it, but Philfound was well within his rights to do so in this case. I have no proof, but the seller seems to be purposely vague in the listing. I refuse to believe they are so nieve that they can't understand how a box works. This was a deceptive listing that only came to light when people called them on it.
-
I was interested in that too until I realized this. It really seems to me that the seller is being purposely vague in answering the questions asked. Whether you know anything about these or not, how hard is it to answer a VERY detailed questioned about your product such as one asked here. Come on!
