I know that this thing needs a 6V power supply, but I need to know what's the amperage the power supply must be. Is 300mA enough, or is it too strong/too weak?

Seeing as the PBC only works with the Genesis 1, I can see how something like this would be quite useful for those of us with Genesis 2's, Nomad's, X'Eye's, LaserActive's, etc... If a Game Genie-sized PBC were available, I'd probably buy one.--Zero
http://www.tototek.com has a converter that is cartridge-sized and has support for both master system and Mark III games. You can order it without a case to be sure it fits. There is no card slot and the same compatibility issues seem to apply. Though I'm always amazed at electronics work like this. If you can get a card slot on it, that will really be awesome
I will definitely be doing that on my second converter since I can't seem to find the problem with the broken Master System I got.

When will I see PC Engine shoot-em-ups?!?! The lineup is okay(I like Cruis'n USA, but I already have it on cartridge), but damn, Konami must get of their damn butts and release any Gradius games never released in the US for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx(they're already out in Japan. Makes me want to import a Japanese Wii)!

It won't recognize any discs? I'd say your laser is either dead or dirty(or maybe a fuse blew, I'm not sure). Which model of the Sega CD do you have, the tray model(Model 1, this one sits under the Genesis) or the lid model(Model 2, this one's a bulge that comes out the side of the Genesis)?

If I can't find an R-Type Master System cartridge, I'd gladly get it on the Virtual Console if it's ever released there.

Yeah, I don't think so. I have NEVER seen any Power Base Converters in my area, plus, on eBay, they cost more than an original working Sega Master System at that same place I can get the broken one.Aren't you the guy who paid $180 for a Sega CD when you can get one on eBay for less than half that price?
Bob, ALL Sega CDs I've found on eBay are more expensive than how much I pay for it shipped. Remember, I don't live in the US, so I don't get as many Sega CDs that sellers ship to Canada.
Thanks to all who've left complements. It was a pain to do, a major wire mess and I burnt myself with the iron. But I'd do this again. I found a Master System that no longer powers on, so I'll get another crappy sports title(an EA one this time), take the cartridge and card slots and wire everything back up(hey, I enjoyed the experience, but I feel it needs to be taken one step further). Then, I'll figure something out to do about the first converter.

Did I get ripped off? The purchase this time is:
Super Famicom Model 1(!) (very uncommon in Canada, never seen one here before), complete and a Supercom Pro. 1 SP-3200 copier unit(!!), complete too with the floppy drive(!!!), all for $250.

If they ever do release wireless Genesis controllers, they'd better be 6-button controllers with a MODE button, unlike all those new Genesis/NES 2-in-1s. If they make 3-button controllers(which I highly doubt they will), they're retarded.

Unfortunately, Hang On/Safari Hunt is the only Sega Master System cartridge I own, so I can't really test everything out. Sorry. I'd test R-Type next if I had it. But I'm pretty sure compatibility will be the same like Sega's own Power Base Converter. Now, I need a broken Master System or a slot I can use to fit Master System card games, a custom casing or modified Genesis cartridge casing and it's 100% done.Might sacrifice an EA game or a copy of virtua racing. Seems like the case would be big enough for all the wires and such
I sacrificed a Sega Sports game. I'd NEVER sacrifice Virtua Racing, though, because I like the game and I don't own it, nor have I ever seen it anywhere. I could, probably, when I go pick up my Super Famicom, get an EA game, scrap the board and stick my converter in it(if I can't get it to fit in a traditional Genesis cartridge).
Virtua Racing is an excellent game and one that I'd think twice before scraping too. Good luck getting it all to fit in a shell. Post more pics of the project.
It was a tight fit, but...
I got it to fit inside a normal Genesis casing! I unfortunately can no longer take pictures of the board since I glued the cartridge slot to the top of the casing using epoxy. I will, however, show what the converter cartridge looks like(pause button is glued on top of the cartridge too). Just need to add a custom label(I'm not gonna bother to add a card slot. If ever I do get some card games, I'd just use another crappy sports game to make a second converter for card games, or maybe an all-in-one converter).

I am asking because DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure is a great import Platform game for the Snes. I downloaded the game. The only complaint about the game is the lack of translation. The translation doesn't affect the game play.
There might be a Pc Engine games being released next month for the vc in North America. I am not sure yet though. The game would be Final Soldier if there is an import vc release on the tg-16 next month.
Only if it's a Sonic game. Other than that, it's shoot-em-ups and driving games for me.

Well, you're in luck! It's working perfectly on both my Model 1 and Model 2 Genesis. But, please, if anyone is to make their own Power Base Converter, use a sports game. They're all over the place! I hate it!

Or maybe the cartridge's pins are badly corroded? Use some Windex to clean the cartridge, see what happens then. If that doesn't work, you think you can open up the cartridge(I apologize if I'm being a pain, but I don't give up until all possible problems are ruled out)?

I've got a doa Virtua Racer CIB. I might volunteer the cart/pcb to be one of these DIY PowerBase converters real soon.

Hopefully, it won't decide to go crazy on my Model 2. If I leave it on for too long or play Safari Hunt, I get corrupt graphics and the game sometimes resets itself. The Model 1 is safe from this.

The picture seems to contradict that somewhat...This would be fabulous if they actually worked with 100% accuracy. It seems that no has yet built an NES clone that didn't have issues. Nintendo couldn't even do it!
But hey, I'd love to be proven wrong...
It certainly works better than the Genesis 3, I can tell you that for a fact(Virtua Racing works perfectly on this system(Power Base Converter too(!), but the d-pad on the controller doesn't respond)). I was actually thinking of getting one of these, a broken Genesis 3, take the NES board out and stick the Genesis board in the Genesis 3's casing(and rewire the hookups, maybe add in the 9-pin Mini-DIN plug from the Model 3 and test with the 32X).

All early cartridges have small flat-head screwdrivers holding them shut. Little tip: if the cartridge has 5 screws, there's a chance that there's a converter in there. If it has 3, it's a normal US board.

Yes, that's right, 4 AA batteries. As for where to get one, it just happened that I found one, so I don't really know where you can get it. When were these things discontinued if they were(wasn't this like a limited release thing?)
On a side note, I have an audio problem that only seems apparent on Sonic(this is the oldest Radica). Some sounds are barely audible(Sonic's jump), while others are WAY overblown(especially drums), causing the audio to scratch pretty badly(worse than my 2nd spare Model 2 Genesis). Is this a hardware defect that's normal or is my unit going crazy?
