  1. Dead thread, I know, but I didn't notice Raskar's question. I really don't think it can use those controllers since I heard that they don't work the same way as a NES Zapper. Hopefully, I can get a spare Zapper and wire it to a SNES extension cable and try to get it to work. I just got an FC Twin yesterday so I can test that out. And, in case this hasn't been mentioned or if nobody noticed, the NOAC in the FC Twin has been FIXED(audio-wise, at least). Yes, the NOAC in the FC Twin(the new ones with the Yobo jewel in the back) has been revised and now, every game sounds exactly like it should, except that the triangle wave is a bit too quiet and the volume jumps around in Gradius when you destroy the Core at the end of every stage. This makes me wonder if Yobo's FC Game Console also has that revised NOAC. I'd like it if people who just recently purchased a Yobo FC Game Console give me some feedback on how the sound is on your system. This makes me want to put up a comparisson video on YouTube as proof that the games sound exactly like on original Nintendo hardware, so keep your eyes out for the video to show up. BUT, still no Castlevania III(no intro, corrupt graphics, then it crashes after the introduction you see before the first stage, you can hear the audio, though) or Rad Racer II(garbled gray screen). The carts are all clean, by the way(except that Rad Racer II is in pretty bad shape, some pins are missing). Something I'd like someone to try is if they have Akumajou Densetsu and a Famicom-NES converter to see if the VRC 6 chip in the game works. Only expansion chip I confirm to be functional so far is Konami's VRC 4, used in Gradius II(Japanese-only).
  2. Considering the Majesco Genesis 3 won't work with Virtua Racing I doubt it. Also the 32X requires those ports in the back, I don't think a clone system would include that. No, but I believe if the 32X is modded for separate A/V ins and A/V outs(meaning separate red/white/yellow plugs), it *might* work. As for the Genesis 3, isn't there a mod you can perform on it to get Virtua Racing to work on it like this video shows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs5WDBp4YOw? How is it done? What's so special about the Sega Virtua Processor that it can't run on a Genesis 3? Also, just for the fun of it, can anyone compare the size of the Genesis 3 to a Genesis 2(I know I'm going off topic, but this poked my curiosity)?
  3. Never mind, guys, I had to part with it, but I got an FC Twin in exchange. What a great little jewel.
  4. NEW DEVELOPMENT: I just discovered that the noise seems to come from the power supply input. The system came with a third-party power supply with power rating DC 9V 800mA with negative tip, while Nintendo's original one is rated DC 10V 850mA. Something tells me the system is receiving too much power or something, or maybe there's bad noise insulation or something around the power supply are(that thing's so damn close to the A/V outs, I'm not surprised that would have a been a source of noise). Who has a SNES Mini? Tell me if your system does the same thing.
  5. It sure doesn't look like it. I only have one fully functional system. No, the noise comes from my TV's speakers every time I turn on the system. Well, obviously. I've tried two cables out of all those I have and it doesn't change a thing. It's buzzing, kind of like static or something, worsens when a sound clip is playing. Haven't done it for too long, but it didn't change a thing. I even tried to clean the contacts on the A/V port(mind you, this system looks quite beat-up), but to no avail. PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE! I've been dying to get a SNES Mini and I don't want to have to ship it back.
  6. I just came back from buying a SNES Mini, and upon hooking it up and testing it, I'm getting an image, controllers work fine, but I'm getting a very annoying buzzing sound with every game I put in(from the TV, not the system). Could something be blown inside the machine, maybe a defective sound chip or something? I need to know as fast as possible because I bought this thing for collecting's sake and I don't want to send it back.
  7. I was actually wondering about this system ever since I first saw it on eBay. What I would really like to know is if it works with the Sega 32X and Virtua Racing(the Genesis version with the Sega Virtua Processor).
  8. I just put separate audio and video ports on one of my three Model 1 Sega Genesis systems because I don't have the A/V cables for the system and its RF unit is broken. Now, I can get a video signal, I can see the "Produced by on under license from Sega Enterprises LTD.", but then, black screen. I don't have a damn clue what the hell's going on. I know the game's functional(Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II), but why won't it work? I don't even get any audio, not from the audio jacks and not from the headphone jack either. Any fix for that? It's the earliest Genesis with "High Definition Graphics" on top of the cartridge slot. By the way, as if this affects anything, I also broke one of the wires that powers the LED. Not sure if this might cause a problem with the system besides a non-functional power light.
  9. I sure wouldn't want that as a 9th console(a PC Engine Duo-R looks much better, although I might re-paint the one I buy in black, looks nicer).
  10. It's been a while I've been asking to myself what version of the Nintendo 64 San Francisco Rush 2049 is depicted in these pictures: http://media.ign64.ign.com/media/013/013526/imgs_7.html The only ones I've ever seen don't look like this at all. The timer is gone, you only have 5 drones max and the interface and audio has been completely altered. Anyone know if this is a Beta version of some sorts?
  11. I don't even want a SuperGrafx. I might be missing out on some good shooters, but I couldn't care less that I miss some(the ones I absolutely CAN'T miss are Gradius and R-Type). I'm also ready to get a PC Engine Duo-R in my house, as I found a power supply(my modem's....) rated DC 9V 1000mA(1 amp) with a positive tip. Just need to buy the system.
  12. I guess it's Duo-R for me. Just need to find a power supply that matches its power rating(just to clarify, tip is the inside of the plug, right?). The SuperGrafx is useless for me, not to mention that I HATE ITS DESIGN. It looks so stupid(pardon my language). Just 2 little questions on the PC Engine Duo-R and RX. What's different between the two besides their controllers? When you turn on the system with no HuCard in the slot, will it automatically boot the Super System Card?
  13. I'm looking into buying a PC Engine or TurboGrafx 16, but I need some questions to be answered: 1-What are the best shoot-em-ups on the system(besides Gradius and R-Type)? 2-Is it possible to use a Japanese CD-ROM unit through the American Interface Unit(Turbo CD units are harder to find than PC Engine CD-ROM units)? 3-Can you use a PC Engine CoreGrafx with the normal CD unit and a Super System Card(not the Super CD-ROM unit)? 4-Is the Super System Card integrated on the PC Engine Duo/Turbo Duo? 5-What is the PC Engine CoreGrafx's power rating(with and without a CD unit, I don't want to burn out the power supply because of American power outlets' 120V output instad of Japan's 100V)? I apologie if some questions are stupid or noob-ish, but PLEASE, DON'T FLAME ME OVER THIS.
  14. I have a 110-in-1 that *almost* fits the bill of actually having 110 games(including Mario Bros.(original and Super), 1942, Arkanoid, Gradius, etc.).
  15. EMxx #EM14 is at fault. I get no reading from pin 4 to the middle pin of EM14(port 2 is fine, though).
  16. How can test for continuity on pins 4 and 6? Those seem to be the faulty ones because the D-Pad right and buttons A and B are not working. The solder is fine, but the buttons don't work. As a side note, what could be broken inside the RF modulator in the other Genesis that makes it output no audio or video(I don't even get a black screen, I stll see the TV show broadcasting on either channel 3 or 4)? The problem is....... you tell me if you know it.
  17. I have a second one that gives no video at all from the RF modulator whose controller ports I can use(it's the oldest one with the EXT port on the back, not sure if it means anything). I'll check the pins mentioned, see if there's a problem.
  18. I was given a Model 1 Genesis to fix and discovered that not only is the RF plug on the board loose, but controller port 1 is not working properly either. The system recieves no input from the A button, B button and right on the D-Pad. Which pins control the input of those three buttons? I know it's not the controller because I have 2 of them(both of which are 3-button ones), and they both do the same thing, so it has to be the port. Any advice?
  19. Give it some time, yes. It's been a couple of months I had my copy, and I STILL have no clue as to how the game works. Anyone know?
  20. Doubledown, those mods are SICK! Did you perform the A/V out mod on a Model 1 Genesis? I need to do that because the RF out plug is loose on mine and I can't find any Sega A/V cables.
  21. Scrapped the NES-Genesis mod again, and have come up with something else. I call it the "Americanised Family Computer Mod". What it is is basically making a Famicom-like casing(in red and white) around a front-loader NES board. Like my previous mod ideas, the console will become a top-loader, BUT, instead of sticking in a 60-72 pin converter to let it accept Famicom carts(of which I own 2) like the original, it'll take NES carts. Unlike my other mods, the controllers will plug INSIDE the machine, so if someone wants to plug in a Zapper, you'll need to take the casing apart. How's the idea(if you're not fond of hardwired controllers, don't blast the mod idea, please)? I just like the original Famicom but don't feel like buying one, so I'm modding my second front-loader as described instead.
  22. What I really needed was the size of the CASING, but the board dimensions will do fine anyways, like that I can compare a Model 1 board to a Mini board, but would like casing dimensions. By the way, I have a question about cutting off a piece of the board with the controller ports on a Model 1. I need to cut off the piece that has the power LED on it in order to properly center the controller ports(they're too much to the right the way they are now). Will that ruin anything? As for the Yobo board, I don't have one yet, but I was wondering whether it's possible to stuff it in straight without having to increase the height of the casing(I believe that if I don't, the carts will tower out of the casing, but I don't care). And, as a general question, what material should I use to make the casing? ABS modelling plastic, or something? By the way, I will proceed with my NES inside a Model 1 Genesis mod, because I CAN'T FIND A DAMN NINTENDO-BRAND TOP-LOADER NES IN MY AREA(which is in Canada)! Now, just a little clarification about the TurboGrafx 16 region switch. You wire up the pins to the switch, and then you wire that to the motherboard pins? Did I get that right?
  23. Crap, I just remebered I didn't post my completed mods. Here they are: -NES lockout chip disabled -SNES cartridge port tabs removed and(does this count as a mod or half-mod?) replaced the external-line-head screws by philips-head screws -Modchip in mini PlayStation(discovered it when I repaired the system, I bought it broken, mind you) -Modchip in slimline PlayStation 2 And my work-in-progress mods are: -NES front-loader to top-loader(wanted to stuff it inside a Model 1 Genesis casing, but I might scrap the idea) -Stuff a Yobo FC Game Console in my SNES(if I ever get one) -Make a SNES Mini casing and stuff in my SNES' board(I need the casing's dimensions, though) -Should my SNES discolor, I will custom paint it in blue or red -(this is not a system mod) Repaint my SNES controller's A, B, X and Y buttons in Japanese/European colors -Should I find a top-loading NES, I will A/V mod it -I might get rid of the lockout tabs on my Nintendo 64
  24. Single Tooth, while you're at it, you think you can give me the dimensions of the SNES Mini so that I can try to stuff my Model 1 board in a custom-made casing of the same size? This is for my big to Mini conversion for all boxy SNESes. By the way, Uzumaki, how exactly does that mod work? Do you wire up the lines to the switch, and then the switch takes care of the rest? Is there a link to that mod anywhere?
  25. I was always wondering how that PC Engine region mod is made. Will that same mod work on a TurboGrafx 16?
