  1. Sorry, not possible. The capacitors have absolutely no uF or V written anywhere on them.
  2. I have my ColecoVision's motherboard with me as I'm typing, and I only see 3 electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard with this writing on them: 10/25 Does it mean the capacitors are rated 10uF and 25V? They look perfectly fine, and there's current going through them with a multi-meter test. I did, however, find a ceramic capacitor that has no current flowing through it, though I'm not sure if that's the problem, because there are some electrolytic capacitors hidden under the RF box.
  3. Okay, so here's the deal: I bought a ColecoVision that came with no power supply. I figured it wouldn't be a problem to just put a standard 12V power input along with a 7805 voltage regulator for +5V and a 7905 voltage regulator for -5V(power supply outputs those 3 voltages anyways). So I looked around for the pinouts of the ColecoVision's power plug, and got to work. The result? A part exploded(there was an actual popping sound). I saw the smoke come from the back of the console around the right side of the motherboard. After a visual inspection, I can't find a damn part that has signs of damage. I sure hope the part didn't explode inside the RF box! Either way, I think the problem comes from a part on the 12V line because after putting my multi-meter into the power supply(I REALLY should have done that earlier), I got a reading of 17V out of it. 17 VOLTS!!!!! And the power supply's rated for 12V!!!! WTF??? This is my only ColecoVision, and I REALLY want to fix this one up and not have to buy another one. ColecoVision experts, what's the diagnosis?
  4. The GameBoy Advance has everything consolidated on one chip: Z80, ARM, all other hardware. If the GameBoy Advance's hardware is included in something, unless the chip was redesigned(which, as Wickeycolumbus said, would cost more money), IT IS IMPOSSIBLE for the hardware not to have the Z80. STOP SAYING THE DS/GAMEBOY MICRO HAS NO Z80, IT'S BS!
  5. Other good shooters for the PSX: -Gradius Deluxe Pack(J): contains the arcade versions of Gradius and Gradius II. -Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus(J): contains the arcade versions of Salamander, Life Force, and the arcade-exclusive Salamander 2 And this: is an ABSOLUTE MUST for any Shoot-em-up fan. Best Gradius game ever made(well, at least I think it is).
  6. My buddies freak out over my Super Famicom and Sega CDX, especially the Super Famicom as it's a Japanese import system.
  7. You might as well just keep that NES. It sure doesn't hurt to have the Retro Entertainment System around, especially to keep that NES working.
  8. My jeweled FC Twin MURDERS Super C's music(it's REALLY DPCM-heavy). It hits a wrong note VERY often, almost every time the game plays a sampled instrument other than drums. I also noticed that on the jeweled FC Twin, Gradius II has distorted speech. I think it's a slight problem with the updated NOAC. I do like to know something: does the Retro Entertainment System play DPCM samples too quietly? I have that problem on my FC Twin, where anything that uses the DPCM channel is too silent. Also, take a look at what Yobo did to the FC Game Console(pay close attention around the Power and Reset buttons): http://www.xboygame.com/ebayImage/FC-Console/Yobo-FC.jpg Looks familiar? I think there's a new version of the system that's made to resemble RetroBit's version. If anyone has it, does it contain the same NOAC as the older FC Game Consoles, or did Yobo use the revised NOAC in the Retro Entertainment System? Apparently, the box is also different(again, look at the Power and Reset buttons): http://www.xboygame.com/ebayImage/FC-Conso...o-FC-retail.jpg The newer FC Game Consoles identify the colors differently too. From a picture I found(don't remember where), the color is now identified by a check mark written in black marker instead of a red circular sticker.
  9. And that's what really bugs me: why does the Y button issue not happen at all when a Yobo Super NES controller and a Nintendo Super NES controller are used and why does the Y button issue only happen on the Super NES side when using 2 Nintendo Super NES controllers(I'm talking SUPER NES controllers, not NES)? I can live with it, as I don't find the Yobo Super NES controller all that bad(aside from a super-short cord and slightly unresponsive D-Pad), but it's really annoying. This is why I'm asking if anyone had this problem occur on their FC Twin(I may have realized the issue recently because I rarely ever play 2-player games - my FC Twin might have had that problem out of the box and I never knew about it!).
  10. You know, I actually got my FC Twin by accident. I was pissed off I bought a defective Super NES Mini, and since the FC Twin was for sale at the same place I bought the defective Super NES Mini, I bought it(and one of the pack-in controllers were broken out of the box, so that already was a bad start). But I wonder: what chip(s) in the FC Twin would cause such a problem? By the way, no matter what official Nintendo-made Super NES controller I use(I have multiple Super NES controllers, including the rarer SNS-102 version with the Nintendo logo molded in the plastic), the problem doesn't go away unless I plug in my Yobo Super NES clone controller.
  11. Okay, get this: when I use official Nintendo-made Super NES controllers on both controller ports, pressing the Y button on both controllers triggers that combination of buttons, but when I use a Nintendo-made controller in one port and a Yobo Super NES clone controller(not the FC Twin's pack-ins), pressing the Y button on both controllers DOESN'T TRIGGER ANYTHING EXCEPT THE Y BUTTON ON THE RESPECTIVE CONTROLLER! WTF? Did Yobo somehow manage to force you to use at least 1 of their controllers on the FC Twin by having official Super NES controllers do weird stuff if you're using 2 of them? But, then again, it only does this on the Super NES side, which adds to the mystery.
  12. For whatever reason, just yesterday, my FC Twin started having controller issues. Here's the problem: when the Y button is pressed on both the Player 1 and Player 2 controllers, it not only triggers the Y button, but it also triggers Start, Down and Right on both controllers. This causes a wackload of problems in games with 2-player cooperative gameplay, but there's one part that I don't understand: it only happens on the Super NES side. What the hell? Has anyone had this happen to their FC Twin? I'm using original Nintendo-brand Super NES controllers, in case anyone's wondering. The system was also modified with a Super NES lockout chip for full compatibility with Nintendo SA-1 games and S-Video for the Super NES side. It was working perfectly fine after both modifications were applied.
  13. That S-Video mod is overcomplicated. Look at the 4th post in this thread: http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=55425 The mod was applied to a Master System , but it contains the same video encoder as a Genesis Model 1. It'll work on anything with a CXA1145 encoder. Just apply that transistor/resistor combination to Luminance and solder a 220uF electrolytic capacitor and a 75ohm resistor in series on Chroma(pin 15 - solder the positive leg of the capacitor on that pin, solder the negative leg to one end of the resistor, solder the other end of the resistor to the Chroma pin on the S-Video jack.
  14. Hey, I'd like to ask something: who's allowed to run a High Score Club? Can any AtariAge member run them, or only specific members?
  15. Famicom... A/V Famicom... JAPANESE MASTER SYSTEM... PC ENGINE DUO!!!! I'M GOING INSANE SEEING THOSE!!! I want those units SOOOOO BAD(especially the Master System for its FM Synthesis sound processor and the PC Engine Duo)! Is that Gradius II I see hiding in the back next to some red cartridge(if so, VERY nice)? Give it some more visibility, please.
  16. Yeah, I've heard the release date was pushed back quite a bit, though I'm not sure to what extent. Man, GET THOSE THINGS OUT TO THE MARKET, ALREADY! By the way, does the FC Mobile 2 have a bigger screen than the original FC Mobile? I've gotten to see one and the screen is just WAY too small for my tastes(so small, I compared it to a GameBoy Micro screen).
  17. Nifty little design right there. I'm sold!
  18. I'm REALLY starting to get tempted by the FC Mobile 2. Do you know if the system can take a power supply along with the batteries?
  19. I'd love to see the Retro Entertainment System in action. Hopefully, the retailers in my area will ditch the Yobo FC Game Console for this superior piece of modern NES clone technology. Though there's one thing I'd like to know about the system: is the plastic as cheap as on the Yobo FC? Its plastic is so thin it bends when pressure's applied(even when shoving in a cartridge; it practically bends the system in 2!). Does the Retro Entertainment System suffer from that same "cheap plastic" issue?
  20. Big surprise today: I got a Game Gear, but one that came from Europe! I also got a G-LOC Air Battle cartridge with it. This set me back a measly 20 bucks.
  21. For the Full Version 1.1 update. Mostly for bugfixes or updates to stage layouts, that type of stuff. Plus, there's also going to be a Weapon Edit mode for Full Version 1.1(I promised it, and I will add it in). And also for anything that might be worth it for the sequel. By the way, how's the Armor system? And how's Gradius: The Dark Armada coming together?
  22. Aww, damn it! It seems I won't be able to take advantage of the discount because it seems like all Hyperkin products on StoneAgeGamer aren't shipped anywhere outside the United States(I'm from Canada). Hopefully, the FC Mobile 2 will have proper NES audio like the RetroDuo.
  23. Hey, hang tight, I've got a sequel in the works called Gradius: The Dark Armada. This will be a much more elaborate game(no vertically scrolling stages) complete with a selection of 11 ships plus a hidden ship you can discover in-game, voice-overs during the stages, an Upgrade Shop(you will be able to buy upgrades for your ship), 2-Player Cooperative gameplay, and even Contra stages(this was an idea proposed to me by GameStone member Zelos). I actually have a test video of the game up on YouTube demonstrating the modified Unofficial Salamander 3 game engine Gradius: The Dark Armada will be running: A Test Video featuring one of the Contra stages will be uploaded once I get the standard Shoot-em-up part of the engine modified right. Now, about the complaints: Yuck! Most of the box art pictures suck. That was the planned title screen anyways. The framerate is awkward because it's running at 30FPS. Game Maker 7 makes games running lower than 60FPS look jerky. The game is a bit of a memory hog at times due to sprites being too big. Wait for Full Version 1.1, this resolves the memory hog problem. TOO EASY??? WTF?! I've had users complain about the game originally being too hard, harder than the arcade version of Gradius III! Hell, even I haven't been able to beat the game with ease. This is due to programming inexperience with Game Maker 7. But don't worry, when Gradius: The Dark Armada is released, that game will be much better in terms of visual appeal in the backgrounds. It DOES die, but you need A LOT of gunfire. The administrator at GameStone sent me a new design to be included in Full Version 1.1, so it will be updated showing the ships' weaponry. I'll repeat it again: the more elaborate stuff is for Gradius: The Dark Armada.
  24. I currently own about 11 Genesis systems, 4 Model 1s(2 of which have no boot screen, which means they don't have the TMSS BIOS), 6 or so Model 2s and a broken Model 3(it will soon work again, though). I also have the add-ons: a Model 2 Sega CD, 2 Sega 32Xs(1 will be used to make a Sega Neptune inside one of my non-TMSS Model 1s) and a Power Base Converter, not the official Sega one, but a converter I made myself. And my favorites are these: Genesis cartridge: -After Burner II -Thunder Force II (MD) -Thunder Force III -Thunder Force IV(Lightening Force) -Sonic the Hedgehog -Sonic 2 -Sonic 3 -Sonic & Knuckles -Virtua Racing -Road Rash II Sega CD: -Sonic CD -After Burner III -Sol-Feace -Android Assault Sega 32X(all the games I own): -After Burner Complete -Virtua Racing Deluxe -Star Wars Arcade -Shadow Squadron
