  1. Most of you here know that I'm a HUGE fan of Konami's Gradius series, so much so that I decided to make a fangame. It's called Unofficial Salamander 3, an unofficial sequel to the Japan-only Salamander 2(Salamander is the spin-off of Gradius), featuring 6 playable ships each with different weapon setups across 15 different stages(Boss Rush included). If you want to try it out, here's the link to the download page: http://www.gamestone.co.uk/gradius/forumvb...read.php?t=1983 Tell me what you think. I'm preparing a big update(Full Version 1.1), and I'd like to get as much feedback as possible. I also have a sequel in the works. Look around, and you'll find it(my username on GameStone is Ace).
  2. Okay, I managed to build something(Xboo cable), but now, I can't find any good software to flash a game onto the friggin' cart!!! I tried the Xboo software, but it doesn't seem to find any of the ROMs I try to flash. I tried LittleWriter, but it doesn't recognize anything. I finally tried SPLINK, but after the program boots on my GameBoy Player, the PC program crashes, and my GameBoy Player crashes with the boot screen of the program and a code of some kind on the top-left corner of the screen. I'm getting really pissed off with that, and I REALLY need a program to flash a game, especially since one of the games already on the cartridge(Contra Advance) is corrupt(crashes every time the player touches a power up or enemy fire) and I can't find a Gradius Galaxies cartridge. Anyone know of a good program(it MUST use the Parallel port).
  3. It all started when I got 2 broken Front-Loader NESes and had my slim PlayStation 2 modchipped. I then wanted to solder, and when I got my soldering iron, the good old Internet was my friend. Thanks to the Internet, I now modify and repair: -Front-Loader NES -Top-Loader NES -TurboGrafx 16/PC Engine -Sega Master System -Sega Genesis/MegaDrive -Super NES Mini -Sega Saturn -Clones, more specifically the FC Twin and GN Twin
  4. How's this for a nice thrift find: -Boxed Atari 2600 Jr. Long Rainbow -Atari 7800(had a broken power plug, but it works now that I've fixed it) -20 or so controllers(too many to count) -Over 40 games All this set me back $80, which I believe is the value of the 7800 by itself.
  5. I got some gameplay videos on YouTube, mostly Shoot-em-ups(Gradius, Thunder Force, R-Type, even my Gradius fangame) as well as clone console comparisons and my favorite video game music(not the point of the topic, but it's worth mentioning anyways). Here's the link to my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Ace9921
  6. So you're saying I'd be able to use Uniflash via a DOS boot floppy to flash a game onto the EEPROM? How?
  7. I'll give it a run on an NES game I don't like, and try to build a programmer for the cartridge(know of a guide to make one?).
  8. Boot Block Single Supply Flash Memory Is this a giveaway that an EEPROM will NOT work in a flash cart?
  9. Took WAY too long to edit my post, so I'll put what I wanted to say here. Look what I found on that same website: http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/genesi...sis_cart_en.php Turns out I can 2 8-bit EEPROMs to make a Genesis flash cart. Hello, After Burner II! Been having a hell of a hard time getting my hands on it, but now, all I have to do is assemble a flash cart and the Genesis flash cartridge programmer, and I'll be on my way to blasting fighter jets out of the sky in an F-14 Tomcat(virtually, duh).
  10. Is there any difference between the AT49 and M29 variants? If not, then thanks for finding this. Do you know of any place that has a guide to building your own NES flash cartridge programmer?
  11. ! :-o :-o :-o Holy crap! Is that as big as a Genesis 3??? It's a friggin' small thing, but is the PC Engine SMALLER than that? By the way, is your Genesis Model 1 a "High Definition Graphics" model?
  12. :x :x :x :x :x :x Why can't I ever find a TurboGrafx CD?!?!?!?!?! By the way, just how SMALL is the PC Engine?
  13. I've sifted through some old computer motherboards and have found a couple of different EEPROMs that look like they can be used to make NES flash carts. They're actually very small, either 1 megabit or 2 megabits. I found 3 different EEPROMs, but I only have this one with me: an STMicroelectronics M29F002T Here's the datasheet of the EEPROM: http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/...S/M29F002T.html What's the typical size of an NES game? Super NES? For what consoles would that specific EEPROM work well for?
  14. I would like to see the unofficial list, unless it's confidential information.
  15. Oh, man, I forgot about that! While I LOVE Sega's infra-red wireless controllers(they function REALLY well, despite their limited range), RF wireless controllers(or a built-in RF receiver for wireless controllers a la Generation NEX) for the RetroGEN would be the bomb.
  16. I'm assuming it uses a full cloned Famicom chipset. This is one of the earlier Famiclones, probably pre-NOAC old. EDIT: Found a little tidbit of information on the system: http://ultimateconsoledatabase.com/famiclones/gentex.htm It was released in the 90s, so the odds of it having an NOAC are 50/50.
  17. Mark, what you have is an NES clone made to play(usually, don't know about this unit) Japanese Famicom games. Do you have a closeup of the system?
  18. Why am I seeing so many Atari 7800s when I haven't even found one ANYWHERE where I live??? Mark, what is that Famiclone at the complete bottom of the shelf in the left of the picture?
  19. I have all this(any console that's bolded is hooked up. If I have more than one of the same console, only one of them is hooked up): Consoles Atari 2600 Light Sixer Atari 2600 Vader Atari 2600 Jr. Short Rainbow Intellivision II(x2) Front-Loader NES(x2) Top-Loader NES Sega Master System Model 1(x3) Sega Master System II TurboGrafx 16 Sega Genesis Model 1(x4) Sega Genesis Model 2(x7) Super Famicom Super NES Super NES Mini Sony PlayStation(gray model) Sony PlayStation(PSone model) Sega Saturn Nintendo 64 Sega Dreamcast(x2) Sony PlayStation 2(fat model) Sony PlayStation 2(slim model) Nintendo GameCube(with GameBoy Player) Nintendo Wii Yobo FC Twin Yobo GN Twin Addons: Sega CD Model 2 Sega 32X(x2) Pictures to come.
  20. I bought myself an X-ROM 512Mbit flash cartridge last week, but it didn't come with its programmer. So, to save the problems of finding it, I want to build a cartridge programmer myself. I did manage to find this: http://www.ziegler.desaign.de/GBA/romcap15.png The problem is that it seems to be a cartridge READER(look here for more information): http://www.ziegler.desaign.de/GBA/gba.htm#cart%20reader Is there any way to make a programmer out of that? If so, how? What tools will flash the cartridge via the Parallel port of a computer?
  21. Are you serious??? I guess this only means one thing, unless someone takes over: bye-bye TurboGrafx HSC.
  22. Atari5200, WHERE ARE YOU??? The TurboGrafx HSC has been inactive for several months, and I want to continue it.
  23. Virtua Racing does work on the GN Twin and Gen-X, but it DOES NOT on the FC3 Plus. I don't want the Genesis clones backtracking in terms of compatibility. There are, however, other games that don't work right on the GN Twin and Gen-X: -Super Monaco GP -Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II -Formula One(made by Domark) These games all have control lag, for the simple reason that there are low-quality chips that convert the NES controller signals the controllers use to Genesis controller signals. The lag is so bad, the games are unplayable, and in Formula One, it's SO BAD that when you press Start, it keeps registering the Start button, and when a race starts, the game crashes! Since the RetroGEN is supposed to be Genesis-only, that problem will be fixed. Same for Sega Master System converters. While they work on the Gen-X and GN Twin(NOT the FC3 Plus), no presses of the D-pad are registered while playing a Master System game, again because of those conversion chips. The 32X works on the Gen-X and GN Twin(except there's no plug for the patch cable on either unit), but NOT on the FC3 Plus. All the incompatibilities on the FC3 Plus are as a result of pins on the cartridge slot left disconnected for whatever reason.
  24. On the FC Mobile 2, all I want to see is this: -Full compatibility with Castlevania III and Rad Racer II, 2 games that have caused so many problems on a ton of Famiclones -Fix the reversed registers for the sound output on the NOAC(reversed sound registers seem to be the cause of the NOACs having audio with wrong pitch And for the RetroGEN: -Make it look like the Genesis 3 -Make it use an ACTUAL Genesis A/V out(same like the Genesis 2 and Genesis 3) -MUST BE COMPATIBLE WITH VIRTUA RACING! -Compatibility with Master System converters -Compatibility with the Sega 32X -Integrated region switch -Use the TecToy-580G ASIC like in the Hyperkin SG/FC Dual Action, but IMPROVE THE SOUND CIRCUITRY(use the one of the Genesis 3, AND NOT JUST IN MONO; include Stereo sound as well)
