I tried FAT32 at the time, and wouldn't work either. I do not recall the allocation size, but I think it was 4096 bytes. -

This continues to be a very exciting project, as I don't even like Doom! HA HA. Vic is amazing, and he's also created a new driver that allows the SEGA CD to pick up sound processing via PCM, which frees the 32X processors up. It's kind of funny that they released a "patch" on romhacking, when in fact this is really a new, standalone game. Yes a lot was taken from the Jaguar port, but they replaced the entire engine, it's really no longer the original 32x game at all.

I've heard this claim, but how well documented was that? Look, MSU1 is no different than say SGM on the Coleco. These are concepts which were very much possible during the lifespan of these consoles. Since it makes little to no sense to generate manifestations of these concepts using period hardware, they've been done with what's available now, often in an emulated form. That's fine. But they still remain conceptually valid for the time period. MSU-1 remains a valid use-case for what the SNES CD may well have been used for. Why? Because it's exactly what Sega and NEC did on theirs. That said, name me one CD-driven console upgrade from that generation which had any real success, particularly in North America? MEGA/SEGA CD, TG-16/PCE CD, and Neo Geo CD systems all did middling to outright poorly. Amiga CD32 never even got here. Given the high entry price for CD hardware, they just didn't make a ton of sense.

I would agree with Kirk, there's no way of knowing what the final design might have been. It was just one of many competing products in N's pipeline, and ultimately and wisely they went in a different direction with stuff like SuperFX and SA-1 and the like. Beyond the FDS, Nintendo have rarely been supporters of major hardware add-ons. The 64DD was never brought stateside, and aside from that the Gameboy Player was basically the only success, but that was a concurrent platform already well established. I always lamented at their reluctance in developing network play, whether it was the Satelliview, X-Band, and the GameCube Broadband. They finally did it on Wii though, I guess once they were confident it would be something that worked well.

All the hardware in the world means nothing without committed and well financed and planned software. Sega CD never had any beyond maybe Sonic. The SNES CD would never have been released in my opinion for the same reason. Sega struck a joke of a deal with Sony to get mainly the trashy Digital Pictures FMV content. Very little "new" was produced on the partnership. Moreover, the CD system for both would have been quickly out of date, surpassed by the oncoming 32-bit spate. Nintendo wisely realized it was better off spending on enhanced 16-bit carts than messing with 32-bit without that being a ground up new console. Additionally the CD user base would never have been large enough to support either company. Not for maybe the third year, which works what, 1994? Not sure I view MSU1 as the SNES CD because as I said, Nintendo never ever ever would have released an add-on that just ran FMV ports or CD audio enhanced games as the Sega CD really did. Let's not forget the horrendous titles which Philips wound up doing on the cd-i. They knew better. Yamauchi's head would have exploded if presented with all that junk. Not to mention the prototype was nothing to write home about. MSU1 is very cool but it's not what the retail product would have been. Not for Nintendo.

I see. HC is I believe 4GB and higher, whereas standard was 2GB and below, so the 1GB cards are not HC yet they work. PS: I tested the 256's on another NGPC I had to dig up, and they worked. They did not work in my unmodded 7800 either, so it's definitely a 7800GD deal. As I said, I'll use them for something else. -

First, sending the card isn't worth the postage! Unless you were desperate to research it. LOL. Second, interestingly enough, all over older 1/4/8GB micros seem okay in there. And the problematic 256MB seem to both work on your Lynx and Jaguar GD's so go figure! I suspect they'll work on my NGPC GD too, if the handheld worked. Decided today it doesn't want to turn on, so I have to poke around at it. In any case, I'll just one the smaller capacity ones on the hand helds. -
Receiving a "Filesystem Not Found" error on the below SanDisk 256MB cards. Tried formatting in FAT and FAT32. The Apacer 1GM card in FAT32 works. I tried blank, putting the 7800GD.ini file on it, and also upgraded firmware to 23.08.0858, won't work. This is quite aggravating as I want to use the smaller capacity microSD's as the bigger ones I've got are for other uses.

Why would the RetroTink 4K be substantially more expensive than the 5x Pro? It's bigger, more connections, but really the FPGA cost is the only wild card. Pixel FX I see finally announced a release, although not really. Their incredibly tardiness will be its undoing. Mike Chi's team have been a truly remarkable model for the retro community. I myself don't really need the 4K, but it's going to be the #1 for many, for sure.

Does the TIA volume setting save? I lowered it to halfway, but didn't seem to stay. Reboot of system, it was back to full. -
Got the cart the other day, played around with it today. The addition of the Yamaha emulation is incredible, easily my favorite part. Can't believe what I was missing before, the 1942 game sounds so great. One question, will exFAT ever be supported?

Well, sadly not the case, ha ha. AV route, any kind of "special audio" Pokey, Yamaha, etc., results in grey line interference. Good news is that the RGB feed into my good ol' HD Retrovision components is crystal clear! Thanks, yeah my intention was to have the AV mod replaced with a newer S-Video mod. However, with the advent of the 7800GD's RGB out, I likely don't need to bother. But will keep it in mind. -

Mine is an old, crappy, Longhorn. I have a Concerto with Hokey, it works though. However as mentioned, the Pokey games are not very loud. -

Do these issues occur via the RGB out on the cartridge? That's my intended method, and I have little faith my AV mod was installed properly given all the past issues I've had with it. Lol.
