  1. I must be in the minority but I always loved U.S. Games. Towering Inferno, Gopher, Name This Game, Entombed, Squeeze Box, Commando Raid, and M.A.D. are all great games in my opinion that I come back to all the time. The rest of the games are all decent enough with the exception of Sneak n' Peek. Anybody else love the U.S. Games releases?

  2. I don't buy sealed games unless they are the same price as an opened copy. Hell I don't even buy boxed games unless they are the same price as a loose copy since I don't collect boxes. The few sealed games that I had, I opened. I don't see how it being sealed is going to make the game any more valuable. I buy games to play just as much as to collect. If anything I would want to pay less for it since you can't verify if the thing even works. I have opened about 10 sealed Intellivision games and a few Atari 2600 and NES games so far.

  3. Calling Diablo an MMORPG is like calling Call of Duty Black Ops an MMORPG. Black Ops has massive ammounts of players online and it does have a system where you level up but it's still nowhere near an MMORPG. Diablo is and has always been a dungeon crawler or an action RPG. Just because you can play online and there are massive ammounts of players that play the game, doesn't make it an MMO. You can play the game completely solo and never ever ever ever see another player controlled character if you choose not to. To stay on topic, I think it's cool that there will be an auction house with real money. But I will choose to not use it and stick to the seperate auction house for in game gold currency.

  4. I think it's a great game. I've played DN3D from a kid all the way up to now. DNF is just what I expected. I think that the graphics are amazing, the game play is fun, and I have yet to come across one glitch. The only complaint that I have is only being able to carry 2 guns. If I had to make the choice again then I would gladly fork over $60 for it. For those of you that had it pre-ordered then that means that you had access to the demo and could have easily cancelled your pre-order once you got to play the game.

  5. Last year I pulled a really nice Gemini with both controllers and a bunch of games out of the trash at the warehouse at my work. It was in the child center and then I guess it got put in the warehouse cause they thought it was broken. Turns out the power cord on the inside just needed to get soldered back to the board. Works like new now. The controllers work good except the paddles are a little jittery. I'm planning on selling it as soon as I get done moving.

my question is are these worth investing in? Could I fix them up and sell them for profit or are these heavy beasts not worth the hassle?

Those would be a great deal if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. Not sure how much of a profit you could make off of them but if it's all cheap fixes then you could probably sell them for a profit. I'm not a fan of Street Fighter so I would personally pass on that one.

  7. the "I AM ERROR" almost made me crap my pants at the orthodontist's office. That was the first time I played Zelda 2.

I don't understand why people think this is so weird. His name is Error. That is why he says "I am Error". You even talk to somebody that tells you to go speak with Error and gives you a hint on where to find his house. This is just one of those things that has always bothered me.

To keep this on topic I would say that many moments in Resisdent Evil gave me that feeling. Especially when the dog jumped through the window.

  8. My first time playing Duck Hunt was at my cousins house. It was also my very first time playing an NES game. I've only played Atari 2600 games up to that point so it really blew my mind. I was 5 years old at the time but I still remember every detail of that day. Then my cousin showed me SMB and that was it for me. Me and my sister got our NES that Christmas. I never had the desire to shoot the dog and never even thought about it until many years later when I first started using the internet. I couldn't get mad at the dog because I suck.

  9. I think it has to do more with the age of the collectors that influince the market. When the Atari 2600 was at it's peak it was when the people that grew up with Atari were at an age where they wanted to re live their youth and were at a position that they could afford things like collecting games. Now that the Nintendo age kids such as myself are into their 20's - 30's they are looking back on their youth and wanting to re live their past. We now are more financialy stable and are able to collect the games from our past. Of course for me I still prefer collecting Atari games over NES games so it's all fine and dandy for me if the market drops. Plus as mentioned before, video games grew more popular after the NES came out. That is just my opinion.

  10. I just found a Coleco Gemini with all hookups and two Gemini controllers in the trash. I also found 10 common 2600 games and 6 common Intellivision games along with a bunch of manuals. Here is a video showing the Gemini. The Gemini wasn't working when I first got it but upon inspection I noticed that the AV and RF inputs both broke free from the board and were no longer soldered in. I soldered them in and now have a fully working Coleco Gemini with two working Gemini controllers.

  11. I find that Defender on the Colecovision is fairly easy. Probably the easiest port I have played of it. I was able to roll the score about 4 times before finally turning it off. I was playing for about 5-6 hours straight. Donkey Kong on the Colecovision is also an easy port. I broke 1 mil on the hardest setting.

  12. Way to go! I assume the "dreaded" voltage demons didn't get you too bad :) Sanyo's are bad about that because your arm has to go right next to the tube "plug" (where the HV wire plugs into the glass) during install....always good to re-discharge those Sanyos before installing the chassis.. been bit a few times that way! I would say of the brands to repair, the Nintendo game monitors are probably one of the hardest ones...you are ready to tackle ANY of them from here.

I am always glad to hear people fix their own stuff. Its a high-school electronics class difficulty and with some common sense its not a problem to do one of these. Does take time, but SOOOO worth it.

    Way to go!

How do you discharge the voltage? I have a Mario Bros. that needs a cap kit bad. Any advice would be appreciated.

Second the advice request. I've got a Lady Bug that's in desperate need of a cap kit. I've owned it for over 10 years, but been too scared to do it -- give the possibility of death and all :)

Discharging the monitor is very easy but can also be very scary the first time you do it.

Nothing much to it really, just be very careful.

  13. Wow! That really inspires me to buckle down and replace the caps on my Blasteroids monitor!

Then buckle down and do it tommorow. You will love yourself for doing it. I can't say enough about how much a simple cap kit can improve a game and make it look and feel like a different game.
