  1. Got through the whole thing with out any zaps. I could have easily paid somebody else to do it or just put up with it the way it was. I figured that if I'm going to have an arcade cab around then I might as well learn how to fix it. It really was high school level work. Wasn't much to it once I figured out how to take everything apart. I know, it's beautiful.
  2. Today I played my first game of DK3 since I installed my cap kit yesterday. I sat down and started playing and I was in the zone. I passed the 100k, 200k, and 300k mark with ease. I was going for a high score but I had no clue about what would happen. My high score was 347K and as I passed the 300K mark with tons of lives in reserve, I knew that a new high score was in my future. What I didn't realise is that I would also pass up the 400K mark. But I didn't stop there, I kept going and going and getting closer to 500K. Did I pass that 500K mark? Well the answer to that question is no. I fell short at 497,600 points. The worst part is that I only had one bug left to spray and I would have been onto the next level and gained enough bonus points to put me well over 500K. I was on my last life with that last bug in my sights, what I didn't realise is that at the same moment a coconut was heading straight for my head. I was so concentrated on that bug that I let my guard down. BAM! that coconut hit poor stan and killed him dead just shy of half a mil. I'm still proud of my new score but am sad that I didn't pass that milestone. Oh well, there is always next game.
  3. I was scared at first but I made sure to do my research and I was prepared before doing anything. It was definitely gratifying when it was complete.
  4. Yesterday my cap kit came in the mail for my Sanyo 20EZV monitor in my Donkey Kong 3 cab. This was my first time installing one so I was nervous as hell. The colors on my monitor were washed out and bright. After I completed installing the cap kit I plugged everthing back in and fired up the ol game. I was nervous that I had screwed something up in the process. When I looked at the screen I almost cried because it looked so beautiful. The colors were crisp, clear, and vibrant. It was like I was playing a brand new game. Here are some before and after pics to compare Before - You can see that the colors are kinda washed out and the black background is very bright. It makes the lines appear on the screen. After - Now the colors are way more bright and the black actually looks black. Plus those lines are no longer present from the brightness being so high.
  5. Each machine is different. Some only require a dip switch setting while others might require you to mod the game by adding hardware. You could also always add a button for credits and wire up to the coin mech harness. Do you know what games you will be getting?
  6. Not only have I heard of it but I am a member of the forums. Are you a member? If so what is your screen name over there? It's good to see some promotion for Classic Game Room over here.
  7. Paranormal State would just want to burn it. Didn't you see the episode with the piano?
  8. 347,500 LVL 25 Here is a pic of my new high score that I got yesterday. It's a little dark because I had to use my camera phone to take the pic. The best tip that I can give is in later levels, spray DK up as high as you can at the start of the round and then only concentrate on killing the bugs. Don't worry about DK unless if he gets too low down the vines. When the big bug (Beespy) comes down with the two smaller ones surrounding it try and shoot the big guy without killing the small ones for a nice bonus. Although not needed to complete the game, keep your flowers as your #1 priority. You get major bonus points every round if you keep them safe. Try to save your super sprayer for the third round where you spray DK into the beehive. If you use it on this round then you can easily beat it and the next round before your time runs out for the super spray. When the blue bugs come down from the sides pay attention for then to come at you. If you can then drop down below them and shoot up as they are passing for an easy kill. Keep an eye on the creepies (caterpillers) that crawl down the vines. You want to try and keep them from reaching the platforms or they will make navigating and shooting a pain. You can only kill them with the super sprayer.
  9. I played a game yesterday and will post the picture later with the score. All I will say is that it will get me the #1 spot so far. I'm happy to see that there are some people here that are finally understanding what is so fun about DK3. It is my favorite arcade game of all time and is why I converted my nintendo cab into a DK3. It's a very fast paced game that really keeps you on your toes at all times. Lets keep the love going for DK3, the most underated arcade game.
  10. Here is the link to my page that I said I would post. You can ignore all of the wifes Elvis stuff unless if you like Elvis.
  11. I have a bunch of video game videos up on YouTube. I can't link to my channel right now because I'm at work but I go by the same name on YouTube (theking21083). I'm sure that I'm not the greatest at making videos but I have fun doing them.
  12. That's really cool. Daniel is an awesome guy. He sent me one of his Colecovision Canadian multi game carts for free. I can't say enough good things about that guy.
  13. I would like to claim: Daedalian Opus - Cart only, near-pristine (Game Boy) - TheHoboInYourRoom Face Ball - Cart only, lower label corners slightly lifted (Game Boy) - TheHoboInYourRoom In return I will put up: Basic - cart only (Atari 8-Bit) Assembler Editor -cart only (Atari 8-Bit) and I already had 2 other items posted.
  14. I updated the list. Sorry it took me so long. If you notice anything wrong then please let me know.
  15. Those are some very good finds. I found my O2 in the wild with 14 boxed games for $50 and I still think that is a good deal. If the console is less known on ebay then that is fine with me. It just means that I can build up my collection for cheaper.
  16. Both NTSC and PAL games will play on a NTSC and PAL Master System. The Japanese SEGA Mark III games will not work for on any console except for the Japanese one because the carts are shaped different.
  17. Rampage is fun on the NES but doesn't have Ralph in it who is my favorite character.
  18. Wow, you are lucky to have even the one, when I was in the military we always had a small place, it would be hard to manage. Hey, when you get out then you can go wild! I always tell my wife that once I get out I am going to go hog wild and by a bunch of arcades. She doesn't like that idea too much but I have another 12 years to convince her.
  19. I have just one and at the moment I don't have any space issues. I am in the military though and move about every 3 years so it could become a space issue depending on where I move. I would love to get more but there would be no way for me to move them all over the country every few years.
  20. You don't have to take the labels off on the front of the Colecovision to it them. Just take the screws out of the bottom and then you can take the top of the Colecovision off. It's difficult at first because you have to lift and pull back but once you do it once it makes it easier.
  21. Yeah, I've never heard of anybody having a problem with the Gamecube controller either. I guess I'm one lucky guy then because I still have all 4 of my original N64 & Gamecube controllers.
  22. Same here. I've had my N64 since 1998 and I still have all of the original controlers that I got with it. I have never had one joystick go wobbly on me. I honestly think it happens when people mistreat the controller and push way too hard. Maybe you should pay attention to how you are playing and see if maybe that is the reason for it happening.
