I had this exact same problem on mine. I fixed it by soldering all of the connections on both ends of the power cable on the inside of the Coleco. The end that connects to the female plug and the end that connects to the board. I would give that a try since it's very simple.

There are some pics posted in this thread. Somebody could probably make a 7800 port of D2K if they wanted to. I don't really see it being that great of a game if it were ported to the 2600. If you want to see video footage then I posted some somewhere in the thread.

That's what everyone seems to say. I agree that the game is difficult, but the original arcade DK was hard to begin with. I really don't find this one substantially tougher. I dunno...maybe it's just me. Do you guys really think it's that hard? After you get past level 1 then you will see a big increase in difficulty. Every level gets harder and harder until about level 4 or 5 when it tops off. I consider myslef a decent DK player but I can't get past Level 3 25m on D2K.

Here here, Jess! I'll try to reroute the thread. I'm having a blast with this game. I can get up to the mixer stage (175m) now. Darned if I can get past the part that dumps the pie filling into the empty plates, though. I can't wait to see what surprises are in store for level 2! Fun fun fun! The mixer level 175m is definitely the hardest level to beat at first. After you get the timing down for getting past the mixer then it will be one of the easiest. I was stuck for a long time on this board but now I rarely die on it. Level 2 brings a lot more surprises that you won't expect. The foundry 25m level increases dramaticly in difficulty and wait until you get to the barrel board. D2K is definitely a fun game and I really do hope that Jeff comes out with some more hacks for other great arcade classics. I have a video on YouTube that I made for D2K if anybody is interested. You might be able to use it to figure out how to get past the mixer. I'll link the video once I get home from work.

Well Trebor, I appologise if what I said affended you but I had to state the same issue about D2K modifying DK's code at least 4 different times in this thread. People tend to skim through posts, miss what was trying to be said, and then attack other people. After everything is said and done, does it really matter? When you compare D2K to any other homebrew or hack, what is so different about D2K that it makes everybody want to try and attack it. I honestly don't care if somebody is playing the ROM because it's not like D2K is marketed to the everyday collector. It's not even like D2K is the first arcade hack that has been made and sold but it sure is getting lots of attention. Not every homebrewer releases the ROM for their game/hack so why should D2K be attacked for not doing so?

The cage is made from different pieces in the game such as the ladder, the fruit is made by using old graphics, he used black to layer over other items to give them an appearace that it is something else (read in article from my last post), and if you can't tell where he got the pulley from then your not looking (Hint: it's at the ends of the conveyer belts). Read the article from my last post for this one. The pie is already in the code it just was not used in Donkey Kong. The Pie machine is made of different items layered on top of each other I know it has an oil drum and an elevator in it. same as with the apple This is called modifying the code. I have talked about this from the very start. You change the part in the code that says that Mario can't go across and change it so that he can. same as apple. The falling pie I explained above. The "3-D Red hearts" is a simple modification of code. You take a pink heart and turn it red and then layer several of them on top of each other as you pick up hearts. You answered your own question on this one. It is a hack or "modification to the code to make the level look different. There's no denying Jeff did a nice job with this title. However, trying to state all he did was use what is already in Donkey Kong is wrong. The screenshots prove it. What Jeff has done: 1. There was some slight modification on both the Barrel & Rivit stages also but I wouldn't expect you to know that since you didn't reasearch anything. The barrels don't fall off the sides when they are below you and on the rivits stage the flames come out faster. 2. Yep 3. Should of said "Created new levels by modifying existing code". 4. Well this is a hack of Donkey Kong. 5. correct which is the same thing that you stated in 1,2,3, and 4 6. Should read "created new graphics by modifying the code of existing graphics to make it look different." 7. No, way off on that one.

Here you go bud, Make sure to read everything. Don't just skim through it. When you get to the bottom you can click and it goes in detail about how he made every level. After you read that then come back here and read your post again. I've done my research, the problem lies with the people that havn't and then go around and make accusations. If you have fully researched D2K and you still feel the same way then that is fine but until you put some effort into actually looking for stuff and reading it then don't come here and try to correct me. After you read that article then make sure and do a google search because there are other articles and interviews out there. I suggest that you go read them. @Artlover - I know that I have stressed several times the fact that D2K modifies the code that is in Donkey Kong but that is because people like Trebor don't seem to be able to grasp that concept. I appologise for some peoples inability to read the posts and actually try to understand what they mean. @Trebor - What I have been saying this whole time is that D2K modifies the code. Everything that you see that looks new is all in the code. Some of it is used in different ways to make it look different (changing color, putting different items together, using ladder pieces to make a cage, etc) Some of it is in the code but was not used in DK (The falling Pies). If you don't understand this concept then please do not try argue with me about this. At least me and Artlover can seem to have an understanding on what the other person is trying to say. D2K falls on a very thin line on the issue of being illegal. Both sides have good arguements that everybody needs to take into consideration.

That is exactly what I was trying to say. The D2K chips just change the code to make it look different. Everything that is in D2K is already in Donkey Kong. The game is called D2K: Jumpman Returns, if you don't want to believe me then check Twin Galaxies and you will see. People refer it as Donkey Kong 2 but that is not it's official name that it was given by Jeff.

Found one for a good price. If anybody has a PS1 sitting around then I would like to buy it. I will purchase any model as long as it looks and plays good. That is different. If you are making a Star Wars movie and selling it than that is copyright infringement. Jeff is not selling a Donkey Kong arcade board that he made. He is selling chips that alter a Donkey Kong arcade board. He is not selling a game. If you could make a DVD player that mixed around the scenes on a Star Wars DVD and arranged them in an order to make a new movie then that would be completely legal to sell as long as you are not selling a pirated copy of the move with it.

They sure did get sued. But you know what, they won and kept on making Game Genies. Now you see Game Shark and several other similar cheating devices that are on the market. Obviously if it was illegal then they wouldn't still be making them. Has Nintendo shut him down yet? He released his first DK hack several years ago and nothing has happend yet. Nintendo knows about D2K because several people have come forward and said that they narced on Jeff. Not to mention that Jeff has even claimed to have contacted Nintendo himself about D2K.

Yeah but these people fail to realise that there was another hack before D2K. Jeff took the extra foundry level from that hack and added 3 more to make D2K. They don't realise that this has been around for quite a few years and Nintendo has known about it for all this time and has done nothing to stop it. That's because there is nothing that they can do to stop it since D2K is completely legal. Hell, Artlover tried to correct me when I said that D2K consited of 2 chips. Why don't you guys go distribute the ROM for the new Pac-Man collection for the Colecovision? Wouldn't you consider that illegal? Please, I want to hear your responses.

What are you not understanding about this? Do I have to tell you again? The D2K chips do not have any code from Donkey Kong on them. That is why you put then onto an already existing DK board. Think of it like the Game Genie. The Game Genie does not have code on it from any NES games. The Game Genie just modifies the code on the games to make something differnt. In the case of the Game Genie it's to give you cheats and in the case of D2K it's to give you a different game. He is not remixing a CD and selling it, he is selling a device that remixes the CD that you put in it. Got it?

I make a chip that plugs into your Adventure cart and changes the already existing code to make the game play different. I am not selling any of the code for Adventure. What I am selling is something that changes the already existing code. I don't know how else to explain it. There is no code for Donkey Kong on the D2K chips. If I sold a machine that took your already existing Britney Spears album, and this machine arranged the music differently to make it sound different when you played it on this machine, then I am not selling anything then is that bootlegging?

So your telling me that the 2 D2K chips that I purchased and installed into my DK cab was really 4? He isn't selling the ROM for the Highscore/Freeplay kit, the D2K chips install into the kit. Would you like for me to provide pictures for you? You might know some things but you definitely don't know everything.

For those that don't seem to understand, Jeff is not selling Donkey Kong boards. D2K is just 2 chips that you insert onto your DK board that you already have to own, and it changes the code on the DK board to make a different game. In no way shape or form is Jeff selling Nintendo's property.

I believe you since I own the actual game. How far have you gotten so far. I can never get past level 3 25m. I can't even figure out how I'm supposed to complete level 3.... You have to walk over all of the rivits and then go to the top.

I've had my Atari 800XL for about a year now but only have about 9 games for it. If you have any games for sale then please let me know. I'll buy any game for the right price. My 800XL has a 256k upgrade so the 128k gamesare no problem for me. Like I said just give me a list of the games you have for sale and I'll take a look.

I know that it's out there but you might be looking for awile. Most people, including myself, probably wouldn't help you even if we could. I own a DK cab and have bought D2K so that's the best way that I can tell you how to get it.

Really anybody that grew up with the NES and on this should come natural. I am right handed and I know that I play better with the joystick on the left and button on the right. It's how I have always played video games.
