  1. Looks like there were some replies from both sides. I think that NE146 said it best. You have to get DK and DK Jr out of your mind, DK3 is a shooter with some platform elements. I play it like I would Galaga and Gorf but others want to play it like it's Donkey Kong or Mario Bros. There is so much to the gameplay other then shooting DK in the ass. You have bugs diving at you from the top, bugs coming at you from the sides, bugs shooting at you, bugs that explode like a grenade when you kill them, Caterpillers blocking your shots, Caterpillers crawling across the platforms, an ape to keep up top, flowers to protect, and coconuts being thrown at you. This is all happening at the same time. There are several ways to win and several ways to lose. DK3 is a fast moving shooter that really keeps you wanting more.
  2. I don't think that the Game Genie lets you bypass the lockout chip. I remember trying it in the past and having no success. The Game Genie uses the lockout chip in the game in order to work. Unlicensed games don't have that chip. Your only options are to disable the chip in the NES or get a top loader.
  3. I found a Donkey Kong 3 board online for a reasonable price and bought it. I have always loved to play DK3 on the NES and have played it a lot in MAME. I really enjoy DK3 but it seems that it receives a lot of flack from people. I just wanted to get everybodies opinion on DK3 and why they like or dislike the game. I've heard people argue that it is too big of a departure from DK and DK Jr but I think that is what is so charming about it. It is a really fun platform/vertical shooter game that really stands out from all of the other games of it's kind. Since DK, D2K, and DK Jr all have the same type of gameplay, it will be really nice to plug in my DK3 board every once in awile and play a different type of game. I should get the DK3 board next week so be on the lookout for a DK3 review done by me.
  4. The copy with the switch is an unlicensed game and will not work on the front loading NES. The reason it works on the top loader is because it doesn't have a lockout chip. I own this same game that you are speaking about and also own the front loading NES. Now that the lockout chip is clipped in my NES I can play it along with any other unlicensed game.

  6. You have to disable the lockout chip on your NES to play Micro Machines, it will keep your NES from ever blinking again and you will be able to play Unlicensed games. Here is a video that I made that will explain just what you need to do.
  7. Weighted Companion Cube is from the game Portal. It's not even alive, it's just a box with a heart on it that you have to move around. Tidus the main character from Final Fantasy X
  8. No problem, I wanted to make sure that D2K got as much exposure as possible. It's too bad that more people can't play this wonderful game. Maybe one day the ROM will eventually be released for use on MAME.
  9. After receiving my chips for D2K I did a review of the game on YouTube. If anybody is interested then please watch it. I noticed that there are no videos on YouTube that show the ending, but mine does. Enjoy. D2K Part 1 D2K Part 2
  10. Well guys, my chips for D2K came in the mail today. I played about 7 games and am loving it. So far my score is 36,600and I can get all the way to the mixer without dying. It took me several games until I was able to get past the Mixer but now I can do it but still lose a couple lives in the process. My favorite level is the Refinery and my least favorite is of course the mixer. I also enjoy the elevator board a lot better because it actually feels like a complete level since you can't just run right through it. I'll get some pics up later and then link my video once I make it and get it uploaded to YouTube.
  11. Welcome to the forums, I've been subscribed to your channel for a little while now. You might recognize my screen name because it's the same one that I use on YouTube. I have enjoyed all of your videos and am always excited to see new ones when they are released. Keep up the good work.
  12. I was hoping to pick up a marquee for it. Then I could switch it out for whatever game I'm into at that time.
  13. LOL, I bet our cabinets look exactly the same. (except mine just has a smoked plexi bezel from the vs) I still need to buy a bezel, marquee and sideart also. And mine was a dk that got converted to a unisystem that I converted back to dk. Let us know how d2k is and if it is worth all the hype (it definitely looks cool) That's pretty funny and ironic. At least you already had the holes to mount your monitor back to the vertical position. Mine didn't have them since it was always horizontal. I'll definitely let you know what I think of D2K. I'm sure that it will be an excellent game.
  14. So you bought the required high score save kit already and are just upgrading to the D2K, right? That is the $40 option. (which ends up costing you 85 in the end) I am going to have to buy the full kit ($79) for mine, since it is a stock dk right now. It is still a pretty reasonably priced game, but still pretty expensive when you have other things to buy for the cab also Yeah, I already bought the high score kit last month. Now I am just getting the upgrade chips for $40. I would have saved $5 if I bought them together but I really wanted the High Score Kit ASAP because it is a must have item. I've spent lots of money on my cab so far and I'm not even done with it yet. I still have a couple more things that I need to buy like the DK Marquee, Bezel, and sideart. Right now I don't have a marquee or sideart and I have a Mario Bros Bezel. Some of you guys probably remember that I converted my VS. Super Mario Bros into a DK. It was origionally a Popeye before somebody converted it to the Unisystem.
  15. I sure will jboy, I will also make a video that you can reference on your show. I would love to hear more people talking about D2K. It seems that a lot of people don't know about it yet.
  16. Yeah man, I'm super excited to play it. $40 for a brand new arcade game sure is a great deal. I hear that it is extermely difficult so I hope that I don't suck too bad at it. I'll be posting a video on YouTube once I get it installed and get some practice at it. Now I have to impatiently wait for the UPS guy to deliver the package. I wonder how many of the D2K chips have been sold so far? It would be interesting to see how many are out there.
  17. After getting my Donkey Kong cab up and running last month, I was finally able to order the chips for D2K. They are going to be sent out on Monday and should hopefully be to me by next weekend. I'll make sure to keep you guys updated when they finally arive. I am also making a harness that will alow me to play DK3 in my cab. Once I have everything complete I will be one happy camper.
  18. I have a Donkey Kong cab but it has a Vertical Hold adjuster on the back of the monitor. It sounds to me like it should just be an adjustment that needs to be made. Hopefully it isn't anything worse then that.
  19. Hey guys, just thought that I would update you on my situation. First I would like to thak Mister VCS for keeping the Colecovision HSC going. I want to apologize to eveyone for my sudden disappearance. I've been going through some ordeals in my life that I hope to straighten out sometime soon. Whenever I am able to get back on track I will return to the forums once again. At that time if Mister VCS feels that he wants to continue the HSC then that would be fine with me or if you wish to not continue anymore then that will also be fine. I'm not sure when I will get my life back to the way that I want it but hopefully it won't be too much longer. Thanks again guys for picking up the HSC where I left off. Keep on playing and enjoying the Colecovision HSC.
  20. Let's go with Mr. Do!'s Castle for the next game. I've been wanting to do that one for awile.
  21. Yeah, it's done. I've just been busy with overtime at work and lost track of the days. I'll get the new one up tonight.
  22. All that you would have to do to beat the score for Donkey Kong is smash one barrel or jump over 3. If you can't get 300 points in Donkey Kong in 30 seconds then you have issues.
  23. Chickeybaby is a superly awesome young lady to do business with. Another A+++ from me!
  24. I bought some games from RJ and he was excellent to deal with. I paid a very reasonable price for the games and then he even threw in a few more free of charge.
  25. And in that case, I would completely aggree that he should tone it down. The problem is however, despite all the back & fourth, and probing for details; The circumstances of why and what capacity he was there for are conspicously absent. It's rather hard to have a valid opinion without that key signifigant fact, even more so when it's someone who don't like him to begin with giving only one side of the story. When I see a situation where one could accuse bias of being invovled, I'm more open to giving the benefit of the doubt towards the other side. Atleast until all the details are available and a fair objective opinion can be made. This point however....It's not his problem if someone else doesn't know who he is. It's like, if your kids ask to go to the Eddie Murphy concert, and you don't know who he is, or think of classic SNL and take them, you can't use that as an excuse to complain once the mother f--ker's, suck this, f--k that, kiss my big black ass's start flying non stop for the next 90 minutes. Anywho, not knowing the full story, I can not and refuse to justify anything said or done. Fair enough? Sounds good.
