Wow! So it's available for the US now. I'll have to download it tonight and see what it does to PS1 games.

I've never watched a dvd on my 360 but I do have an upscaling Sony DVD player connected to my HDTV via HDMI and I have my PS3 connected via HDMI. Upscaled DVDs look great next to non-upscaled DVDs. I compared watching a DVD on the player versus watching it on my PS3. Now it all depends on the DVD. Some look great and others look ok. Usually new releases look much better than older DVDs. Now Blu-Rays look wonderful in HD, but then again some look better than others. It all depends. Obviously movies shot in HD are meant for Blu-Ray. For instance, I watched Rambo on Blu-Ray and it wasn't much better than an up-scaled DVD. Monster House looked really good on Blu-Ray and Kingdom of Heaven was pretty good too. By and large to put it all on a scale of 1 to 10. Blue-Rays are from a 7 to 10. Upscaled DVDs are from a 6 to 7 and non-upscaled DVDs are 5 and below. I know I'm rambling but I joined Blockbuster Online so I can rent Blu-Ray discs. When faced with the choice of re-buying movies at $20 to $35 a pop to get them on Blu-Ray, there really is no choice about it. Upscaled DVDs are great to watch. My eyes aren't that good anyway. Now when Blu-Ray discs come down to current DVD prices. I'll start picking a few up, but until then Blockbuster Online is the way to go.

According to Joystiq, the download is only for Europe. I hope we get it soon. Hmm... I wonder why it's Europe only right now? Something with PAL vs NTSC? Tempest Seems odd to me too. I don't really get it. Is it the same hardware? Wasn't there something about the PS2/1 emulation being software driven in the European models versus hardware driven in the initial US hardware. You'd think that would make upscaling via software on the US models easier. But then again, that's why I teach English rather than work on computers.

I've come across two Atari bats in the 10 years or so that I've been into collecting Atari items. I live around Pittsburgh, PA and both bats were given away as promos during Pirate games (I think in 1982). Unfortunately, I sold both bats and didn't get as much for them as I thought I would. I thought Atari collectors would jump all over them and I was wrong. I still keep my eye out for them at flea markets. I'll keep you in mind if I come across any this summer.

FS-- Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (XBOX)
heavy-sixer replied to heavy-sixer's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Just listed it on Ebay: LINK. -
I'm looking for complete Samurai Jack Gamecube or Playstation 2 game and/or the Samurai Jack GBA game. If the price is right I could pay via Paypal or MO. I'd prefer Paypal. I don't have much to trade at this time, but I do have a copy of Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows that I posted HERE. Feel free to PM me. Thanks!

This game is complete with case, manual, and disc. The disc is in very good condition with only a minor mark or two. I've played through this on my Xbox 360 and I'm looking to move on. I'd like to get $17 (shipped to US), but I'm willing to listen to offers or consider trades or a combination. As far as trades go, I'm mainly looking for Gamecube, Wii, DS, Xbox/360, PS2/PS3 games but I don't really have anything in mind other Samurai Jack for PS2, GC, or GBA. Maybe Resident Evil 4 for GC or PS2. I'll take paypal or MO. Thanks for looking.

It's the same serial #. The woman I talked kept saying how sorry she was but that I would have to send it back. I was calm with her but I did express how upset I was that I spent $15 to send it to them and nothing seemed to be done to the unit. I also played up how disappointed my son was because we haven't had our 360 for two weeks and my son just got Crackdown for his birthday and couldn't wait for today so he could play it. She was from India or somewhere and didn't really get what I was saying. I'm just floored at this whole ordeal. For once I wish I would have gotten the console at BB or CC and got the replacement plan so I could just get a new one.

I got my 360 back today. It was being repaired for the 3 flashing red lights. I plugged it in, and guess what? It didn't work. The 3 flashing red lights were still there and the GD thing didn't start up. Now they are going to send me a box to ship it back to them. What a waste of time, money and effort on my part in sending it to them the first time. I have to write a letter to somebody at MS. I'm so pissed!

Do you know anyone who has a spare HDMI cable you could swap it out with just to see if it's the cable? I have a cheap Monprice HDMI cable for my PS3, and I haven't had a problem with it.
-
I got my Xbox in July and I just got the 3 red flashing lights today. I tried everything they suggusted and nothing!! I have to send it in. Good thing they extended they're warranty to a year because I would have been SOL under the 90 day warranty. I better get the extended warranty when this gets back.

Well, now that you have established not only your technical superiority but also your ability to expend energy and attend to small detail, I hope you feel better about yourself. I find it absurd that I would have to take a disc out of a console if I'm not done playing it. It seems like an anal retentive obsession that would add more wear and tear on the loading mechanism than anything else. I think it would be a safe bet that most people leave discs inside their consoles, computers, cd players, etc. I am not trying to establish superiority. I though there was a conversation going on here. Sorry to have assumed that comments on the topic were welcome. I personally don't like leaving games in a console or seeing a game left in a console. This may speak to my organizational skills where I may be lacking in some area where you are not. It is not about superiority. It is about personal preference. I never said anyone here was wrong. I said I disagree with leaving games in consoles and I have reasons for feeling that way. Ultimately I like things to be in their place and when a console is not in use I feel like the game should be put away. I had to comment on the idea that putting a game away and getting it out later is too much work because video gamers are already stereotyped as lazy. The idea that something as simple as putting the game away until you play it again later takes to much energy just reinforces that stereotype to an extreme degree. Lazy is not doing something that you are supposed to do just because you don’t feel like expending the time or energy. I really should have used the word "unnecessary." It just seems like an unnecessary waste of time and energy to take a game out of a console and then put the same game back into the console the next time you turn the thing on. Why not just leave it in there? Is there proof that removing a game from a console before turning it off is a necessity? (And I’m not talking about moving the console around with the disc still in it.) If there is I’ll remove the discs because I’m not lazy and I care about my stuff, especially stuff I pay a lot of money for. But if there is no proof and this is just your personal preference, that’s fine too. But just don’t make it seem like your preference is the best way to do things. But really, this is not an argument as much as it is a friendly disagreement. Just something to talk about

I always leave discs in my consoles. On the lazy side of things, it's a pain in the ass to constantly be putting a disc in and taking it out of the console if I'm just going to put it back in the next day so I can continue playing it. Second, I didn't know it was bad to leave a disc in the console. I've done it with all of my consoles and I naturally continued the practice with the Wii. Of course, I didn't really read the manual for the Wii. I wonder if the same thing goes for the PS3.
