What do you think of this eBay issue?
heavy-sixer replied to RickHarrisMaine's topic in Auction Central
I think that would be fair. I think Sony will fix that problem for free even if it is not under warranty. They did it for my PS2. -

Whether the guy felt ripped off or not, that is not the kind of email you send to a person that you need and/or want to help you. I've been both a seller and a buyer on Ebay since 1998, and I've always gone the extra mile to help people out when they are nice whether I was doubted their motives or not. By the same token, I've always received satisfaction as a buyer when I've been helpful and cooperative with the seller. As was hinted at above, the buyer was wrong to let it sit in a box and not test it out within the 7 day provision set by the seller. -

His last reply is totally out of line and it smacks of somebody who knows he's been found out. If he really wanted to resolve the issue he would have tried to be a nice as possible. Your reply to him is great and puts the ball back into his hands. Hopefully, he will just go away, but if he really wants to resolve the issue he knows what he has to do. -
Thanks guys for all of your help. I'll probaby pick one up within the next month. I haven't seen a PS3 in stores since they launched. Things might be changing because just today they've had them at GS, EB, and Target.

I was in Gamestop today and they had a 60 gig PS3. I almost bought it but the guy kinda talked me out of it. He said they have a ton of overheating issues. I went up to the EB on the upper floor of the mall and they had 60 gig units too. He said he hasn't had any returns and doesn't know of any overheating issues. So I guess the question I'm asking is, how many people with 60 gig units have had lock ups/overheating related problems? (I've been kind of on the fence about getting a PS3 because there is nothing I am really dying to spend $600 to play, but on the other hand I have $400 in credit at GS/EB). Also the guy at EB told me that PS3s only have a 90 day warranty. Is that correct?

I'm posting this from my Wii and it's pretty cool. This is about as much typing as I can handle for today.
-
I did that too! I thought it was pretty cool that my blue light was on when I got home from work. My wife thought I left the console on or somthing.

You can save them to your SD card, or delete games and replace them with new ones. I believe that you can re-download games that you have already purchased. That's what I figured, but that seems like it will be a huge pain a couple of years down the line, once there is a ton of downloadable content. I don't know if they can change that in firmware or not -- make it possible to download to and execute software from sd cards or usb hard drives.
-
What happens when you internal memory is filled up? Would you have to swap things out onto SD cards so you can download new games and/or play old downloaded games?

It would have been nice if Nintendo would have thrown some free points around, say 1000 points for buying a system at launch. Or I thought they might throw a free download of Zelda in for buying Twilight Princess. That would have been a nice touch. Anyone download DK Jr.? I'm tempted, but I really don't remember it from the NES. Is the NES version any good? I had it for CV.

Mine is slow too, but I can't narrow down the problem just yet. Recently, my Verizon DSL seems to be slow. I never had issues with my DSL since I got it about 3 years ago. Lately it just seems too slow, but then again, I think I'm having wireless router issues as well. Today I'm going to get a new wireless router. I can't wait to see how that affects the Wii's connection speed.
-
Same here! It was refreshing fine and then boom! Nothing would load. Kinda disappointed but kind of relieved because I really didn't need it in the first place.
-
I'll be at my parents tomorrow for the feast and luckily they got DSL not too long ago and a new computer. I already set down rules that I will be in front of it from 1:50 to 2:10 EST! I have to avoid having too many beers so I can click and type fast enough and hope there will be no distractions or system failures. I wish I knew how many people will actually sit down and try to get this deal. I hope they all eat too much turkey and fall asleep or are too hung over from the great Thanksgiving Eve night out or become too distracted by family or football to actually get it together long enough to clog up Amazon and try to get one of the 1000 xbox360s.

To Wii Owners: Is It Really Just A Gimmick?
heavy-sixer replied to Mendon's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I just have to say that at some points I thought that it was really just a gimmick and at other points it seems much more than that. My friend just came down and he (37 years old), my son (10 years old), and me (37 years old) played a most enjoyable 9 holes of Wii sports golf. I was watching as we all interacted in a way that was more akin to playing a board game or playing a real round of golf than just sitting there and playing a sports video game. It was the first time we played the golf and it was a blast. We were moving around. I was drinking a few beers, and, in a way, it was really a revolutionary way to play a video game. It also brought back memories of when my friend and I would play Intellivision golf back in the early 80s. But I was really struck by the social and phyical structure of playing the video game. So I must say that I think Nintendo may be on to something here. We had a blast with bowling too. It was almost like the real deal. -
old stuff downloads, not free after all?

old stuff downloads, not free after all?
heavy-sixer replied to thomasholzer's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
This isn't true. You create an account with Nintendo and it keeps tracks of the games you download. So if you lose your Wii, or it breaks down you can get them back. Apparently, on other boards people say that you can delete games to make room for others and you are able to redownload them later when you have more space. http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/06/wii-virt...onsole-details/ Here's a question: Say, I get a second console and tie that to my account. Can I then download the game to the second console free of charge? Just kind of thinking out loud here. Would you mean running two Wii's in the house on one account? Or buying a second Wii later to replace the first one? I think Nintendo's customer support would be willing to help out any customer with this problem. If there's a video game company with excellence in customer support, it's the Big N. I was thinking either way, sort of like downloading a song from a service. I can put it burn it to CD, put it on my MP3 player, and listen to it on my computer. -

If you have your downloads tied to your nintendo account, it should keep track of your downloads. If that is the case, then you should be able to re-download things you lost. I was hoping they would offer Super Mario Brothers right off the bat. I'd pay $5 for that, but not for Mario Brothers or Donkey Kong. Maybe $2.50 for Donkey Kong. -
Anyone camping out at BestBuy for the PS3?
heavy-sixer replied to RickHarrisMaine's topic in Sony Playstation 3
I was just out at my Best Buy and there must be at least 20 people in line outside the store. The thing is, it's raining here and about 42 degrees. It's really miserable weather and those people still have tonight, tomorrow, and tomorrow night to wait. I wonder how many of those people will actually get one. -

My friend just emailed me and said there were 10 people in line at our local Super Walmart last night. -
Do you plan on getting a Wii or PS3 this year?
heavy-sixer replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
I just got my pre-order for the Wii this Sunday. I'm kind of excited to see how the new Nintendo console does against the PS3 & Xbox 360. I have a 360 and I'll probably get a PS3 at some later date. I just cannot bring myself to drop $699 on a console, even with the Blu-Ray player built in. While HD movies look great on my 50" Sony xsrd TV, I don't feel like going out and re-buying movies I already own. Plus, there's not one launch game for the PS3 that I must play. Hell, I waited until this summer to buy a 360 (when I got the premium 360 via Overstock.com for $360 shipped) and the only 360 games I currently own are Madden 2006 (bought used for $13) and Gears of War. I'm really pumped for Nintendo's system. I just don't know whether to connect it to my HD TV or my 27" SD TV. -
Anyone getting a Wii?
heavy-sixer replied to HP Atari King of Michigan's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I just snagged my pre-order yesterday at TRU. They had 12 and I was #11. This was their second round of pre-orders. I was in line for the first round but I was too far back. -
I showed up at my TRU at about 9:25 (they opened at 10 am) and I was 11th in line. They ended up having 12 Wiis, so I lucked out!!! Sucked to be the guys who were there at 4:00 am. Anyway, I'm happy I got what I was after. I got in line for the 1st pre-order and I got nothing. Luckily not many people seemed to be aware of the 2nd round of pre-orders. I pre-ordered Zelda, but I have Red Steel pre-ordered at GS.

Guitar Hero II's song list (all 40 songs released)
heavy-sixer replied to Red 5's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I played through everything on medium last night, and it's great. I don't care so much for the 7th set list. I am upset about one thing. The guitar that came with it has a squeaky wammy bar. It's really annoying. I don't have this issue with my first guitar controller. I don't know what to do with it. I'm afraid to spray some WD40 or something in there. I don't really feel like taking it all back to Best Buy. Any ideas?
