nintendo's response revo specs vs 360 & ps3
heavy-sixer replied to Shannon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I don't see how it can be considered a gaffe of 2005 when it hasn't been released and won't be until 2006. -

Any interest in the Majora's Mask for $25 shipped to US locations? -
Have you checked out the XGameStation? It seems kind of similiar to what you want to do.

What is the best hand held/portable system?
heavy-sixer replied to silverpoodleman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My 9 year old son has a DS and SP and he's always begging to play my PSP. I would recommend the DS or SP. In fact, I got my 7 year old daughter the pink DS Nintendogs Bundle for Christmas. She has an old GBC and always wants to use my son's SP. This way she can play the GBA games we have in addition to the DS ones. Both my son and daughter really like the Nintendogs game, so I got my son Nintendogs for Christmas too. The way I figure it, virtual pets are the way to go. Once the kids get tired of them, I won't be stuck with all the mess and fuss. If you are brave, you can hit the Walmart Black Friday sale and get an SP for $48!!! -
SOCOM FIRETEAM BRAVO FOR THE PSP
heavy-sixer replied to fpselite's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I got the game last Sunday and I completed it by Friday. I thought it was pretty good; however, I haven't played any of the Socom console games so I really couldn't say how it would compare with any of those. The controls took a little getting used to due to the fact that the PSP doesn't have two analog sticks. I did get online with it but I didn't actually play online. -
gba-sp new backlight version ?
heavy-sixer replied to ATARIeric's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I saw some demo units at different stores (Target, Best Buy, etc.), and I have to say they are impressive, a huge improvement over the original SP and the screen seemed brighter than the DS. I'm very tempted to pick one up, but I already have a SP and a DS and a PSP -- so maybe after Christmas or when they drop to $49. -
I always was partial to the Moon Patrol (arcade) music.

Reformatting a PS2 Memory Card?
heavy-sixer replied to heavy-sixer's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm getting the same impression. I've been reading things about devices for it as well and the official PS2 owners manual says nothing about reformatting memory cards. I already have two new cards so I don't really want to put out extra cash to buy some device. -
I have a PS2 memory card that says it has no data but only has 400 KB free. I deleted a corrupted file and now I can't use the card. So I figure it needs reformatted but I can't figure out how to reformat it. There seems to be no option for reformatting. Any clues? Thanks in advance.

I just bought one yesterday at the Super Walmart in Greensburg, PA. I've checked there several times since this thread was started with no luck, but yesterday was the day. They only had two sitting on the shelf, so I picked one up. I had a $10 gift card I'd been saving, so I only paid $21 and change (sales tax included). My son (who's 9) and I played that thing for hours last night. He actually beat Adventure on the 3rd level! Any way, I was really impressed with the quality of the sticks and the machine itself. I think mine doesn't have the voice on Quadrun, but that's fine. I noticed some god awful flicker on Caverns of Mars. I didn't play Millipede so I don't know about the v-hold issue. I just have to say that for $20 it was worth it even with the sound issue and the flicker. And yes, I got into a conversation with the check out lady about her Atari memories. Here's a question: is there a way to get out of a game and go back to the main menu without turning the console off and on again?

Nintendo Revolution: Back Catalogue = Free! (?)
heavy-sixer replied to Lost Monkey's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I think they should price it at $199. That would put them well below the PS3 and Xbox 360. I don't think they'll announce the price point until after Sony and MS show their hand. -

Nintendo Revolution, the art of simplicity.
heavy-sixer replied to Jasoco's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Nintendo promises a console that will run anyone's code? Here is something that sounds pretty revolutionary that I saw posted on Slashdot. I'll qoute it here but here is a link to the blog it was originally posted on --Boing Boing: Not much detail, but if Nintendo makes good on that promise, they're poised to kick the competition's ass: a world of consoles that only ran signed code was a nice racket while it lasted, but at the end of the day, needing to get permission to run software on your own device sucks and devices that let anyone write software for them get more valuable as more people write more code for them. Here is a link to the Nintendo.com article that was quoted: Nintendo.com -

Nintendo Revolution, the art of simplicity.
heavy-sixer replied to Jasoco's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm wondering what the price will be? If they price their console at say $200 and offer all of the free online stuff, that might be the revolution right there in the face of $400 to $500 consoles. -
Game Boy Micro announced - the Game Boy lives!
heavy-sixer replied to 128bytes's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I kind of like it but I wish they would have kept the same size screen as the GBA. It looks like they could have kept the size pretty much the same but added a bigger screen. I'm sure it's easier said than done, but I already have an SP and a DS so I won't be in a hurry to buy another GBA. -

Official XBOX 360 Information!
heavy-sixer replied to jeepnut24's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Here comes what may seem like a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. The fact sheet said that Xbox 360 will be Wi-Fi ready. Does that mean it will be able to connect to my wireless network right out of the box, or will I need to buy an accessory? If it can connect right out of the box, then what does "video camera ready" mean? Found an answer at Gamespot: -
My Playstation N2O game works in a cd player. You can listen to music by The Crystal Method. I don't know of other PS games that do the same thing.

The Lumines high score thread

Holy cow! I must really suck. My high score is only in the 50,000s. But at least I have something to shoot for now.
