I think there was a thread about this recently, but could have just been for the joystick support. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ht=stelladaptor Joe

Unfortunately, there is no touch tablet support in the Stelladaptor. It specifically looks for, and adjusts its data output, based on the standard Atari joystick, paddle, driving controller, or Track & Field pad. Joe
-
Is there a reason for this? Stelladaptor will work with any emulator that supports USB game controllers. Driving controller support will need to be added to the emulator (see the tech. specs in the Stelladaptor on how to do that). Joe
-
Sounds like a problem with the emulator that would happen with any USB joystick. Joe

Awesome! Thanks for the comments Joe

Help! I Can't Get Stelladaptor (w/Paddles) To Work In Mame!
joesmooth replied to hepcat's topic in Atari 2600
OK, I finally remembered what I also had to do to get MAME32 working. Go to Microsoft.com and grab the latest version of DirectX. MAME32 uses some of the DirectController (or something like that) support to handle certain controllers, and that allowed me to edit the values in MAME32's Controller tab. I would also suggest RESETTING all your calibration data for the Stelladaptor game controller from the Window's Game Controller control panel app back to the defaults. You don't need to calibrate the joystick and driving controller (which is essentially treated a joystick, as it's a encoder with 4 discrete positions - read the manual for more), and it's hard to calibrate the paddle, since one paddle controls the X and one paddle controls the Y. Honestly, you won't need to use the Calibration within Windows, anyway. As long as you're seeing the + move when you move the various controllers within the Window's Game Controller settings, which you are, then the Stelladaptor hardware is functioning properly and it's a matter of configuring whatever application software you are using to handle the controller data. Help! I Can't Get Stelladaptor (w/Paddles) To Work In Mame!

I've used Stelladaptor with Mame32 on Win2K without a problem. But, I honestly can't remember what I did, if anything, to make it work.. I know that I had to set something in the "Controllers" tab of the "Default Game Properties" - I think it was disabling the "mouse" and "steady key" support and enabling the "joystick input" (which then also let me adjust the "analog joystick deadzone" slider bar). Of course, "lightgun support" should be disabled, too. It most definetely works, though, and since Stelladaptor is recognized on your Windows machine, it must be a configuration issue. I'm pretty sure it only works with ROMs that have the "Trackball" selection listed as "yes" (like Arkanoid). Hope that helps, Joe -
This sounds suspiciously like a cold solder joint, which can cause intermittent activity or complete failure. It's due to poor soldering technique and caused by poor heat transfer between the solder and materials being soldered. A shameless plug, but my document on Basic Assembly Techniques (http://www.atariage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=249) provides information on proper soldering You could open up your cart and reheat/reflow all the connections and see if that works. Don't bother. I'm already here To tell you the truth, I haven't found much down here, though way better than Boston (Christian Scott may say otherwise - he always found the good stuff there). I think Ianoid cleaned this place out before he moved. Joe

Thanks for your comments. The Stelladaptor can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including other emulators for other systems. It's not JUST for z26 and shouldn't be considered as such. I fully commend Eckhard's work with z26 - he is an amazing and talented person. So, providing bug reports for a free emulator is one thing, but EXPECTING something or complaining about something that is offered for free is another. Furthermore, the Stelladaptor was NOT created "to make a quick buck", so PLEASE do not bunch me into that category. I designed the product for my love of videogames and because I had just moved across the country and didn't bring any of my videogames with me. So, if you think I'm in it for the money, take a look at the hobby, take a look at my past work, and think again. Joe

The topic of the thread is clearly stated "2600 Clear and Colored Cases in AA Store". It obviously wasn't related to that and was an unsuitable place for your message. Unless maybe it was an attempt to show that Packrat also has other colored cases available? Though, now _I'm_ off topic. Joe

Just another graphics hack? Joe

I got a boxed Body Slam Super Pro Wrestling for INTV for $20 and Starpath Frogger tape for $20. Those were my good deals Joe

Thanks for the great review, Curt! I knew you'd like it Joe

When you plug in the Stelladaptor, it is recognized by the operating system as a generic USB Game Controller. So, I suppose you could write a custom program on the computer side to do anything you want. My design intention was to keep it as simple as possible for end-users to just plug in and play with any computer program that supports USB Game Controllers. Joe

Haha! Yes, that was me. How did you know? I don't think I even told him my name! The Bachelor Party cart was my only real trade bait that I brought to the show. I picked it up at a swapmeet in San Diego a few weeks earlier when I was searching for a 2600 system to test a new PCB I was working on (I ended up with a Sears Video Arcade II, so I was happy). I think it was Sunday when I decided to take a walk around the show and just carried the cart with me - holding it up as I went. I was looking over some carts and your friend was checking out my Bachelor Party. He asked if it was for sale and I said "Yes." and then we negotiated (well, I said "$30" and he said "$25" and I said "$30" and he gave me money). So, I'm glad it went to a good home! And that is the story of my Bachelor Party cartridge. Joe

Well, they do! I was slightly afraid of mentioning Softporn Adventure as one of my favorite games, but I had to tell the truth! Joe

From what I know, Mike Stulir from www.backntime.net recorded the audio from the session and hopefully he'll put it up on his site! Joe

Man, I think I'm finally recovered from the weekend.. As always, I had an amazing time and it was cool to meet some new people (and just put the names to some faces). I can definetely say that this year's show was the best convention I've ever been to. And I'm not just saying that to fuel some sort of convention-war. Things ran so smoothly, the crowds were big, I got a chance to play some arcade games (when I was supposed to be working the AA booth), picked up some new additions to my collection, signed lots of books, sold lots of Stelladaptors, got no sleep (thanks, Albert), and just plain enjoyed myself. I'm looking forward to next year already. It was also an honor to be able to participate in the "Programmer's Roundtable" panel with Howard Scott Warshaw, Tommy Tallarico, Ed from Videogame.net, and Roger Pedersen. Talk about feeling inadequate I also want to thank Tempest, Dale, Albert, Chickybaby, Sean, SS, MegaManFan, Mrs. MMF, Curt, David Newman, Mark, Cassidy, Mike Stulir, and Sunmark for being so cool and helping out with everything. Sorry if I forgot anybody. I took about 190 pictures during the weekend and have sent them to Albert. He'll be posting them along with the ones he took later this week.. We'll have to hold that to him, as he knows what happened to the PC4 pictures I sent him. That's it for now, Joe

I was wondering the same thing!

Sweet! I'm glad you like it! Joe

As we mentioned at PC5, Eckhard is finalizing the release version and should be ready this week. A lot of other changes were made to this version of z26, so he wanted to ensure that it was a stable version before releasing it. Joe

As long as it is "7800 controller-compatible" I see no reason why it wouldn't work. Joe

Depends on whose thumb it is.. Joe
