Yes, I'm using the Standard-Joystick that came with the Console.
Strange that those Games are set to the "Sega Genesis"-Controller by Default on the Retron... With the "Joystick"-Option it works, Thanx!
-
I am having Problems with SCRAMBLE and SUPER COBRA ARCADE: In both Games the "Air-to-Ground"-Shot does not work! On my PC it all works flawlessly, but on the Retron (with Beta2- and actual RC1-Firmware) I can only shoot straight forward and not hitting the Ground-Targets...
Is this a Bug or do i have to change some Preferences for the Games?
All other Games (also ARM-based Games like DRACONIAN) don't seem to have Problems (at least from what I've seen until now).

2 hours ago, atarifan88 said:Based on what you have experienced, is there any advantage of the Retron 77 over the FB9 besides the fact you can upgrade the version of stella?
The Emulation seems smoohter to me on newer Titles like Space Rocks e.g..
The Joysticks are better (heavier, more robust). The whole Console is a bit more on the Quality-Side.
Like you said, Retron can play all Titles available at the Moment with the Stella 6-Firmware and has more options for the Emulation at all (TV-Effects).
Downsides are the rather boring Stella 6-Look of the Frontend and that I had problems with my SD-Card, which got locked (but that could be just purely random).
At the Moment the Screen has to be adjusted for a complete Image on most TVs But the Stella-Team is working on it and most TVs can solve the Problem with Options like "Overscan", "Picture Adjustment" and so on.
I've bought a second Retron just one Day after having received the first one - and I don't regret it!

No SD-Card-Slot, no Sale!
I`ll stay with the FB9 and the Retron77

No, my Flashback 9 (also Boom-Edition) and Asteroids behave like they should...

Okay, the Problem seems to be common with (Micro)-SD-Cards if you look through the Internet. Noone seems to be able to solve that problem, but I found a Workaround at least for me: My MP3-Player can be connected to the PC to save new Songs to it and as it was able to format the Card, I tried to connect the Player to the PC via USB-Cable. That did it: I was able to write the Firmware-Image to it, create a new Games-folder and put roms to it.
Some, maybe exotic, devices don't seem to care about the read-/write-Status of the Cards and just "do what theit told". Maybe next time, I don't format the Card but try directly to to access it via the MP3-Player instead of a standard USB-Card-Reader...
Leaves the Question, why the Card got blocked in the first place?! Maybe switching off the Retron77/Stella leaves it in that "mode" and a save shutdown-Option is needed?! Don't know... Maybe someone else has experienced the same Problem or it just was bad luck!?

I'm really liking the Retron77 with the Custom-Firmware, but today I've encountered a Problem:
As I wanted to update the Games on the Micro-SD-Card and put the Memory-Card into my Win10-PC, the whole Card was blocked: I couldn't copy, delete etc anything on the Micro-SD! Always told me the Card was write-protected. No Tips from the Internet would bring the Thing back to live. Diskpart, Properties of the Games-Directory on the Card and so on - nothing.
Finally, I tried to Format the Card in my MP3-Player, which cleared the Memory but the card is still not accessible for Write-Operations! Even trying to write the Image of the Firmware to the Card doesn't work.
I ordered a new Card now, but buying a new one every Time you wanna update the Games or Stella doesn't seem to be a good thing - or have I done something wrong?
(Sorry, no Github-Account...)

Concerning Overscan: I habe the same Problem on my Samsung-TVs, too.
Until the Stella-Team fixes this Issue with the next release, it might be helpful to use the "Adjust Screen"-Setting for those who have that Option available on their TVs. The Samsungs have an Option "Picture-Size", where you can switch different Zoom-Modes: 16:9, 4:3 and the aforementioned "Adjust Screen" ("Bildanpassung" on my german Model). By that Option, the TV doesn't use overscanning and puts the whole Image on the Screen. Very Noticable with the Galagon-Demo...

Got the Cords today and everything is fine!
Special Buttons on Stick 1 work and there's no lagging...
So, Standard Cables work with the Flashback 9

Great! And thanks for testing!

I've ordered two Cables as the Cords on the Sticks are a bit short in my opinion...

Hello!
Does anyone know if normal Extension-Cables for the wired Controllers of the Boom-Version work?
Player 2 shouldn't be a Problem, but Player 1 has the special Functions for "Menu", "select" etc. on the Stick...

Ok, thanks all for your Help.
So, it seems to work with an Update then

I think some guys in GBATemp forum confirmed the Mega Drive FB 2019 is the same device as the Genesis FB 2018.
Yeah, seems so... The Seller of the Console mailed back and told me to look for a User named WD_GASTER2 on the Net. This User is in the GBATemp and has hacked the 2017 and 2018 Versions of the Flashback. So, if the '19 is the same device as the last years' one, it should probably work. Maybe someone here on the Forum has Experiences with the Firmware-Change on the 2019-Version and can give a Report if and how it worked out ...
-
@Atariboy
I'm totally irritated by now...
The Box on the ATGames-Registration-Site is the 2018-Console, so I don't think that the Update would work with the new 2019-Version (black stripe under the Cartridge-Slot instead of a red one; even if it unlocked the SD-Card-Slot on the 2018-Flashback), wouldn't it?!
@all
Can anyone say if there's a possibility of using the SD-Cart-Slot for Games (on the 2019-Console) or not?
I found an Auction on Ebay Germany that sold a "modded" Console (unfortunately the Auction ran out), but it has got no actual Picture of the Flashback although saying it's the newset Version...
I emailed the Seller and hope he/she answers...
-
Ok, thanks for clearing that out...
I was wondering why even amazon hasn't that product listed here in Germany - now i know why. There's only a small company called "Millenium" that holds the rights here and Distribution seems to be mainly via specialized Game-Shops and Discounters...
There's probably only little hope for even an unofficial an update...
-
So, if I understand you correctly, the official New Firmware on the ATGames site "unlocks" the SD-Card-Slot for Games, but they just don't confirm the whole Console and Updates officially to prevent Sega from arguing with them?
I would buy the System, but only if I can expand it with Games from SD-Card...
-
I've heard that the new Version of those Sega MegaDrive/Genesis Flashbacks doesn't have any of the old Problems like lagging wireless Controllers or Framerate-Drops anymore, so I'm thinking of buying one, but there seems to be no custom Firmware to load Games from the SD-Card-Slot.
I found one for the new Atari-Flashback, the Legends-Console and one for the old Sega-Versions, but none for the new one. Neither here or somewhere else or am I just blind?!

Thanks for your quick reply and clearing that out for me!

I've ordered a Harmony Cart from one english Seller warnersretrocorner-ltd (Article: Harmony Cart) and received it today, and I can confirm that it's a genuine Harmony-Cart: Even the Label on the Cartridge is the "classic" green one with Fred Quimby-Copyright! It's the standard Version with SD-Card-Support and simple Paper-Manual. Shipping was real fast. Hadn't a Chance to test it as my new AV-modded Console has, although from Germany, not arrived yet...
So, if you don't want to hassle around with the Custom-Clearance, I think it's Ok (although expensive compared to a Direct-Import).

Hi!
After Years, I've finally ordered a Harmony Cartridge. As I live in a PAL-Country (Germany), my question would be: What BIOS should I use?
From what I know, the Game "decides" the Frames per Second to put out, so why a PAL60-BIOS? Is it needed to play PAL60-ROMs on the Harmony and how do standard PAL-Games (i.e. PAL50) react to that BIOS?
-

Wäre nett, wenn jemand was darüber berichten könnte...

Still no digital Purchases?! 2020 is almost over...
What about sending Money via Paypal and getting ROMs via Email-Attachments, if changing the Shop-System is too difficult?!
