The first time I ever saw the picture below of a mock-up IBM "Atari" PC, I fell in love with it's look and colors. And after twice doing retro-bright procedures and having the yellowing return within a year or two, to my 800, I knew the only lasting solution would be to paint it. So I decided I would make my dream computer, an Atari 800 with colors inspired by the one below. I am making some changes, it's not going to be exactly the same (Ignoring the different case style for starters, that would take far more modification than I want to do), and it will still be badged as an Atari 800 with the Fuji, etc. I'm doing all my 800 series peripherals up to match. This will all be added to my 800 modding and hacking blog, but for now a sneak-peak!
The QWERTY keys will be white instead of light grey/off-white (I'm not sure) as on the IBM "ATARI" PC mock-up, I haven't decided yet if I want the space bar to be white or grey, and I haven't decided yet about the color of the four cursor-arrow keys just to the right of the grey RETURN key and blue CAPS key. I have custom Atari black text on white decals for the keycaps, though those will only be used on the white keys. I have something else in mind for text on the grey and blue keys. I also have custom Atari white text on black key-cap decals for another project, and was thinking either white or grey cursor-key caps, but then use the white text on black decals for the key tops for them. I also decided that the four blue keys on the top-right of the IBM "ATARI" PC keyboard had an unbalanced look and I wanted more symmetry, but I did want them a different color than the QWERTY keys, so I went with grey on three of them. Opinions about the space bar and cursor-arrow key colors are wanted...help me decide...(of course opinions about any of it are your prerogative)
