  1. Always the Show-off but Nice! I just grabbed that pic from an old "show me your collection" thread, it was just the easiest way as I couldn't find any pics of the stick alone on my PC anymore, I did not intend it to show off the rest of that stuff, but, that is only the half of it; do a search for the thread in quotes above, page 3, if you want to see the rest (which of course doesn't show many things added since)
  2. The only thing I don't understand is that if some people here think the Jag sucks, then WHY, OH WHY do they hang out it this forum and keeping coming back? I own or have owned a few systems that I think suck (the Jag is NOT one of them) and I have NEVER gone to a forum for those systems even ONCE, let alone keep going back and flaming the system...it tells me that the said system doesn't suck as much as the people coming here and saying it does, do. It's has it's share of poor games, but there are just as many good/great games if not more, in my humble opinion, even with it's small library.
  3. Do you mean something like the one pictured here?
  4. Just put him on your ignore list like I did; the only problem with it is that people keep quoting him so I STILL have to see his crap once in a while, please stop quoting him!
  5. If you have BS/BSG, you can load them up with JUGS and play them with no modifications (as long as you have a jaglink or maybe scatbox) they are both cool games. They COULD be put on disk I think, like the other games on the BSG demo disk...but you have to know how.
  6. Iron Soldier is one of the best games on the Jaguar and a classic game that is a must have in general. IS2 has better gfx, but the gameplay is what's important and if you even vaguely like mech games, this one is a must.
  7. Notheydon't burn out often at all from my experience, i still have my original from '95 and it still works perfectly, but you never know when something might happen like a power surge or lightning strike, and it's not like the spare has to collect dust, you can use it to network games as we've said...I have backups or will get backups for ALL mys systems just in case something does happen; and if both go bad, there's always a chance to make one working one out of two or more broken ones. The Saturn is much more likely to go before a Jag is, since it has the cd-rom which I doubt will last as long as a solid-state cart based system.
  8. Wasn't there A Simpons game of some type released on the DC? I thought there was...
  9. having a back-up of any classic or modern console is a good idea if you intend to keep using them for some years, they aren't getting any more plentiful! But as far as Jags go, it is mainly a networking thing for most people, you need two for Doom networks and two or more for Aircars and Battlesphere. But they are a lot more expensive than they were just a few years ago; I bought my second Jag for $20, but you won't find one for that cheap anymore and they may just get even more expensive, so you better buy a couple if you ever want a backup just in case and if you ever plan on networking any games...
  10. the original label was OK, but all it was was just a laser or inkjet print out that was lamenated itself! (I know, I had one and looked closely once)
  11. Now that is cool! I don't care if it's second generation or not since the first generation were a low-budget pulication anyway with no box, etc. At least now I can get two copies for about half the price it would have cost mefor one! It's a hard game for even a collector to want to pay a lot for since it doesn't have a box or anything. I'm sorry guys (those that have the original) but it just never was a good enough product to hold it's value in light of this, I really do think the originals are going to drop at LEAST back to their original price of like $70-75. I just don't think anyone will want to pay more (at least very few), it's not like it was a quality release in ANY way, the game is shoddy, the packaging is shoddy and the ONLY reason this one fetched a good price WAS it's rarity (as in lack of availability). IMHO.
  12. So Simpsons Road Rage IS on the DC then? No, Crazy Taxi didn't have a two player mode, so that is a bonus on the Simpson game.
  13. Or even ST/Falcon versions, after all there are the dev. programs for the Atari computers just like the PC. Why did they make some tools on one computer and others on another? That doesn't make the least bit of sense to me (not that a lot of what atari did, did make sense). Luckily I have a Mac and ST and PC, so I'm covered.
  14. Why not both? there are many who just have a Jag to play games and could care less about packaging and then there are those of us (like myself) that are collectors and want as professional a job as possible; a box to put in our libraries with the rest. The end result would probably mean more sales doing both anyway, because you'd get those that may otherwise shy away because of the higher price of a more professionally done package (this would probably also discourage piracy too, if it can be had for cheap, since most pirates obviously don't care about packaging).
  15. Didn't this game come out for the DC too? Or was it another Simpsons title? Also, if a simpsons game did come out for the DC, how is it? Anyone ever play the South Park DC game? How is that one?
  16. No nastalgia here, I never cared too much for the 2600 controller and was always looking for something different and more comfortable for the 2600 back in the day. BUT, The N64 controller is a total piece of CR*P and that is all there is to it, I've searched EVERYWHERE for something different to use on the N64 because I REFUSE to play with this piece of CR*P! At least I was still willing to use the old CX40. I FINALLY found a controller called the SuperPad 64 which has the trigger and analog moved over by the digital pad and not in the middle (what the H*LL were they thinking? Not to mention what the H*LL were all the third party manufacturers thinking when they copied the design?!?!?) . At least Interact changed it; it's still not perfect, but I can at least play the N64 without hating it! No comparison: 2600 stick hands down! Sorry I was late, but that's 2600-11, N64-4 people that need their heads examined!
  17. I payed $10 for my copy and it is definately worth that! knowing how good it is now, I would have payed as much as $25 for it had I been able to try it before I bought it, maybe even more. lemans is killer too though, i can't believe you didn't already have that one with as many game as you have for the DC! But at least you have it now. If you don't have F355 ferrari yet, that's another must have for realistic racing sims, I didn't mention those to Brian because he said he liked Arcade style racers, not sims. Now if I could just get my hands on Half-life... Having fun yet with your 3DO yet Clint? not that you have time with your 150+ DC games and the Jag...
  18. Alien front is pretty cool. Your right about Speed Devils online, I have a demo of that and I thought it really sucked. So I never bothered with the original either for a long time, but then I saw it for $2 so I picked it up anyway and am VERY glad I did, it is much better than the online version.
  19. I was going to wait until I had completed the game to get into the editor, but I did browse it and it looks cool! I like the fact that you can flip the car and have real damage in V-rally, also the fact that you can choose a game mode where the damage is only superficial or one where it actually effects your car! Good stuff! I just didn't care for SR2 because of it's lack of game modes; I always hated Sega racers because you have to play with the damn clock and make it to the next checkpoint in time or you loose, and also because they NEVER give you enough tracks, 3 or 4 is just lame! V-rally has over 80!!! But one can do worse than Sega Rally, it's all right.
  20. The control on V-rally is much, much better than Sega Rally and there are a lot more modes of play, from Arcade to total realism. You should try Speed Devils if you want a game like Rush 2049 but not as difficult (to start with) you can choose the difficulty level and the game is the same type as Rush. Also you must get Vanishing Point, this game just rocks and the control and graphics are spot-on. I have the original Toyko Xtreme and like it, I wanted 2, but the first is all I could find. I think you would really like 4 wheel thunder too, it's arcade off-road racing at it's best. Test Drive 6 is also a lot like SpeedDevils/Rush too, have you tried it? The DC just has tons of cool racers, both arcade and realistic. IMHO it's the best system EVER for racing games, none other compares.
  21. Ok Captain Schadenfreude, what have they sowed for a long time? Relying on cartridges for the N64? Not doing enough to court third parties? Depending on their core franchises too much? Not pumping out enough first party shovelware? I don't think any of those are such terrible crimes. None of the above. I'm speaking of their shady business practices of the past ONE esample: threatening developers so that they would only make games for Nintendo, which Sony and Microsoft are now doing to them. Atari and Sega both were effected by this and had lawsuits against Nintendo at various times for things such as this. Nintendo did some VERY underhanded things in the past and now bigger companies are doing the same to them.
  22. Just picked this game up last night and I LOVE it! 100% better than Sega Rally 2 in my opinion, I REALLY love the realtime damage and the cars actually getting dirty etc. Plus 26 cars, 80+ tracks and a track editor/generator, is totally awsome! The game handles well and is fun as hell! the multiplayer looks good too. No slowdown in frame rate either like Sega Rally 2 in single or two player (haven't had a chance for 3/4 player yet).
  23. Anyone who says this isn't "necessarily" the end of the GC is BLIND! Stopping production is only one measily step away from being discontinued and has happened all to often in the past: 3DO, Jaguar, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast just to name some that this happened to in the past decade. By Christmas it will be discontinued. The next step is that you will very quickly see development houses stoppong development and games being cancelled, etc. It's happened far too often not to know this to be true. As far as I'm concerned, the big N is finally reaping what they have sowed for a long time and are going down console-wise just like 3DO, Atari and Sega before them. It's very sad in a sense, not because I like Nintendo, I could care less about them, but because the huge multi-national Corp. (Sony&Microsoft) are now in control and that will eventually lead to a lack of competition and inferior consoles just like the PC's of today (talking about windows and how crappy it is compared to the OS's of lore from Commodore, Atari and Apple). I long for the days of proprietary computers and consoles and the competition that made them great.
  24. I thought your review was good, never said it wasn't. I was siding WITH you, but I do feel that the graphics are better than what you thought, that's all.
  25. Thanks. Sounds interesting, but it didn't explain it quite enough for me. The interlaced to progressive scan is definately a plus, but can this thing actually use an HDTV broadcast signal, or is it merely taking the 480i broadcast signal and displaying it on a monitor? I'd buy one today if can recieve HDTV signals.
