  1. What makes you say that? Have you heard of someone destroying 50,000 Jaguars?!?!?
  2. any other unencrypted cd games besides AH that can use the memory track? will this work with Protector BJL (when used with the Jagcd) by swapping out the Protector cart with the memory track like one or two other utilities can do? Or, maybe I don't need to worry about it; will Protector's eeprom memory or BSG's work with AH or any other unencrypted cd games out now?
  3. Definately a classic and one of my all-time favorite games. I impressed a LOT of people with this game on my 8-bit Atari computer back in '85, even Amiga owners were WOWED. The 7800 version is higher res than the 8-bit and 5200 versions, which I think is very cool, but you do have to have some modified genesis controllers, 2600 sticks or and arcade stick (like me) to really appreciate it, 7800 controllers just make my hands cramp with it too fast. I do really love the analog controls of the 5200 version for this game, it makes it a real joy to play and otherwise is the same game as the Atari computer version. But, I usually play the computer version the most because it has the cool intros that the 5200&7800 versions are missing. All are great though and you can't go wron with any of them and best of all, all three use the POKEY chip for the cool music!
  4. Just got an Odyssey2 in trade, I played this system years and years ago at a friends house (back in the early-mid 80's) and always thought it was quite original looking and cool, but liked Atari systems better so I pretty much forgot about it until recent years. Now I own one. I do have a couple of questions though... I seem to remember a cool game I liked a lot when I played this system years ago, it was some sort of dungeon adventure game, but I forget the name of it...vaguely remember it and that I like it a lot. Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? Also, I thought I had KC Munchkin, but it's actually a game called KC's crazy chase; is this a sequel to Munchkin? I need to know from you Odyssey2 owners what the good games to look for are...one last thing, did some games come with keyboard overlays? I seem to remember that dungeon game having one, but maybe I'm mistaken...did the Bally Astrocade or whatever is was called have a similiar keyboard? I'm looking for one of those now...need to get another Intellivision too now, I recently traded it for an Atari 1200XL which I always wanted too, but I still want an INTV, so I'm looking for one again. One question about the INTV 1, 2&3 systems, was the 2&3 more advanced than the original, or just different design and will games that came out when the INTV3 did like Commando work on the original?
  5. 1) Yes, there are apparently one or two (possibly more?) prototypes owned by people, good luck getting a hold of one... 2) Never heard of such a "group." 3)It's not available yet. 4) It MAY be under development, it's been planned for a long time by Songbird Productions. The source code to Doom was recently released by ID&Songbird, maybe some day something like this will still surface. 5) Can't help you here except that they are simple childrens games, mainly only of interest to diehard collectors, and not even all of them (I know, I'm one, and I've not the slightest interest in either on at this time). They are presumably available for purchase from Carasel Entertainment(?). Do a Google search I would venture to guess...
  6. would that one developer happen to be Starcat and his Star Alliance project? Or are you refering to yourself in the third person?
  7. How can you possibly say that when you haven't even seen Native in action and say you won't?!?!? Drawing any conclusions or assumptions like that when you haven't seen them ALL is ridiculous!I'm not saying that you can't be right, I haven't seen the NEOGEO games in action, so I can't say but I have seen Native and I can tell you what your not seeing: Unfortunately, even those Native screen shots fail to show just how many hundreds of sprites can be onscreen at once in Native...the NEOGEO screen shots are showing more sprites. But, if you actually saw Native in action with a bunch of ships and shots and explosions and flying debri and power-ups, etc, not to mention the TON of asteroids and layers of parallax scrolling, all running at about 60fps, you'd see just how impressive it actually is, even in it's currently, drastically unfinished state, and all in 2megabytes of system memory...not to mention the higher resolution and color depth and TONS of animation everywhere and plenty of frames of animation too!
  8. I don't think so, the way I see it is although nintendo was a monster to battle for Sega and Atari, it wasn't a big enough monster that they couldn't handle or at least survive ongoing battles with, where as Sony is a much bigger beast that not only could stomp the little guys into the ground, but the Bears like Nintendo as well...Sony=godzilla, Nintendo=grizzly bear, Sega=mountain lion and Atari=wolf. of course now that Microsoft has gotten into it, we have two Godzilla's on the rampage and they are munching Nintendo right now...
  9. That may be what you said, but you should start reading my responses more closely. I wasn't addressing the specific game you said would be placed on CD, I was addressing the fact that ANY new game on CD cannot be made larger than 2MB without CD loading code that "nobody" has figured out. Ok, I'll start double reading your posts/responses too. So when you are talking about "multi-load" cd's, your talking about ANY cd game larger than 2megabytes and not just a MULTI-GAME cd like your demo disk?
  10. Not only that, but there is a good chance that the Jaguar would have stayed in the market longer without the sony competition and Atari may have still been around today too, with a Jaguar 2&3! It is my firm belief that sony led to the demise of both Atari and Sega as console manufacturers and both would have lasted longer otheriwse, as well as their respective systems, the Dreamcast may have been released later, and possibly a more powerful version too, as the Saturn probably would have lasted longer. by 96' the Jaguar 2 would have come out to compete with the N64 and Continue the competition against the Saturn that the Jaguar started. Basically the entire industry would look totally different today if Nintendo had kept their deal with Sony and Sony had never started their own console business...hence, I hate both nintendo and sony for destroying Atari and Sega, my all time favorites!
  11. you're right that the Jag can't push as many polygons as the N64, but it DOES have those other features built in and/or can be programmed into the game. But it HAS been commented many times that Battlephere looks like an N64 game and the Gold addition has even better graphics than the original! the Jag COULD do a game SIMILIAR to Mario 64, but it wouldn't have the same polygon count as mario 64 of course.
  12. True, but "nobody" knows how to load a game from a CD except from the boot sector, so it would seem that only up to 2MB of game can be loaded. Anything larger than 2MB would overflow the Jaguar RAM. Since a cart can hold 4MB, it looks like a cart version would have the most storage. Too bad there's noplace for people to work together on these projects, since "nobody" knows the answers to multi-load CD's. That may be true, but you've GOT to start reading my posts more closely! I said (now read carefully); "Putting a game LIKE these on Jag cd..." LIKE does not mean NATIVE, it means a SHOOTER LIKE NATIVE OR THE OTHERS! Something done FOR cd from the START!
  13. The game is damn good and very fun to play in it's current state even; I was willing to shell out $250 for a flashrom cart a couple years ago, just so I could download and check out this game. As far as I'm concerned it was well worth it and I then bought the cartridge from Songbird when it was released for the $50-60 dollars, so I could free up my flashrom cart for other things. Well worth it IMHO. I will again shell out the money for the completed version if and when it arrives. It's just that good, IMHO. This game would have been/will be another Battlesphere if and when it's finished!
  14. Putting a game like these on Jaguar cd obliterates the cartridge memory restrictions. I think a 790megabyte cd can handle it! But even Native in all it 2meg demo glory looks just as impressive to me (sprite-wise) as the NEOGEO games...if you see the REAL game demo in action would see...
  15. It's powerful enough to blow the minds of rocket scientists in the Apollo program.
  16. He did make it to the Lynx and Jaguar? that's news to me, but I don't know why he did...
  17. Carl has the rights or license or what ever to the game, and last I heard from him, he was promised the source code from the developers IF they ever located it, which is probably not exactly on the top of their list of priorities...but the unfinished version is available from Songbird and B&C, and is quite cool and playable even in it's current state...lots of cool levels to explore and hidden things to find as well as plenty of enemies to engage on most levels. As far as it ever getting finished, first the source code must be found and turned over to Carl, then he has to get to work on finishing it, which would take quite a while even if the source were found and given to him today. So don't hold your breath.
  18. spartados 3.2 and spartados x (cartridge) are both compatible with hardrives. And, if you use the Spartados X cart, is obliterates those memory conflict problems your talking about, since it's all instantly accessible from the cart and uses none or extremely little of the internal memory, should take up less ram than even 2.5 at least, so you might look into it for your programming needs. Superdos and Topdos are also hardrive compatible...as well as compatible with single, enhanced, double and quad densities like mydos, dos xe and spartados 3.2&X.
  19. I've recently added some of the new "demo" cd's to my Jaguar cd collection, like BlackIce/White noise and American Hero. As I was shuffling around discs to make room in the rack for the new ones, it occured to me that my Jagcd collection looks a lot healthier now; I've got American Hero, Baldies, Battlemorph, Black Ice/White Noise, Blue lightning, BraindDead 13, Dragon's lair, Highlander, Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands, Iron Soldier 2, Myst, Native, Primal Rage, VidGrid, World Tour Racing. That's 15. All I need is Space Ace, Caves of Fear and the Demolition Man FMV discs to have everything that's available right now. Looks a lot beefier than ever, even if a lot of it is just demos and unfinished games, it's still cool to have so much more to play on the Jagcd! How about you? How's your Jagcd collection looking these days?
  20. it would be cool to have the alternate reality games on cart, but I'm not sure if it is possible since they span multiple, multi-sided disks...
  21. The Saturn version is, from what I've heard, not personal experience, about as good as the Jag version, it's a direct port anyway; tempest 2000. the PSX version is called 'Tempest X' and I have played it, it's also cool, and has some good graphics, arguably better than the Jag's, but it's really a matter of opinion. Personally, I think the game play sucks compared to the original Jag version though, BUT, it does have the original Jag version built in as a secret code to unlock it. I haven't seen this version as my friend whom I played Tempest X with, didn't have the code when I played it, but he found the code later and tried it, and he said he prefered the hidden 2000 version on Tempest X over the "X" version...he also said he thought the Jag version was better than 2000 on the PSX, but I've never seen it, so I can't confirm. As far as I know, those are the only versions of the game except the NUON's T3k.
  22. Spartados was definately the most powerful dos for the Atari, and VERY similiar to MS-dos, so if you know MS-dos and like it, get spartados. If you want menu driven dos's then Mydos, Superdos, dosXE and dos 4.0 (never officially released, but downloadable and VERY cool and powerful!) are the ones to choose from depending on preferance. Avoid dos 3 like the plague, it's good for only one thing; it has the ability to salvage some bad disks if you format a bad disk with it and then reformat it with another dos. Dos 2.0 and 2.5 were the most commonly used dos's and are good too, but the others are more powerful.
  23. Usually there is a little dial either in the back or inside a door where adjustment dials are placed, sometimes it's just a hole in the back thatyou have to insert a small screwdriver into to adjust, it's always labeled H-hold or horizontal hold. Very rarely you may have to open up the TV/monitor and look for an adjustment pot inside on the motherboard of the tv/monitor somewhere. This is more likely on newer TVs since everything seems to have gone onto the remote control and if you lose the remote, you're screwed! Get a TV/monitor (composite) about 10-15 years old, these are the ones that usually have easy access to manual adjustments. Most will still have perfectly good picture too and the computers were made for these types of tvs/monitors anyway. Newer is not always better when dealing with older consoles&computers...plus, you can get them for cheap. I picked up my composite monitor (Apple IIe composite color) for $25 and a 20 inch toshiba tv with RCA composite video for $20, both have excellent pictures and I use them for my older console&computers. Only consoles&computers I have from the 90's forward are used on the newer TV's/monitors I have.
  24. A game dealer near me has/had 3 new in the box (although the boxes are "worn") Jaguar's selling for $69.95...I was there yesterday and I only saw one on display for that price, so they could be selling, but then, this guy changes his store around on a weekly basis, so he might have set the other two in the back or behind the counter to conserve floor space...he has like 6 Jag games ranging in price from $15 (dinodudes) to $30(wolfenstein)...I think those prices are a bit steep myself. He did have Kasumi Ninja for $10 now that I recall...these Jags, I believe, do come with Cybermorph.
