Yes. It's worked great for me, for the most part, so far, as most of my posted conversions prove. I haven't seen a lot of pre-processed conversions that top the best of what I've posted. A few, like your conversion of 'Green Acres' is better than mine. And a few as good as my best, but if I can be among the top "conversionists" without pre-processing I don't see why I should change. I forgot until just now, on occasion, I have enhanced color saturation pre-Rasta, but that's rare and that's it.

3-D Printable Atari 8-bit Cartridge Holder
Gunstar replied to Bill Lange's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Well, I do happen to have a removable and flexible surface with clips that is made to flex for easy removal (though only use will tell just how good it actually works), though I do understand and agree with you otherwise. I didn't even know people would use 3D printers without a removable surface; mine came with the flex surface and clips stock, and it's a knock-off brand of Creality's Ender3 Pro (though it seems to be a damn good knock-off and very well made: Saint Smart brand). But I'm sure once I have time to get back to it and properly leveled, I'll be making plenty of upgrade parts and buying others too. In fact, I do intend to buy the self-leveling upgrade (and other upgrades I can't print) for it now that the U.S. Congress has passed another $1400 stimulus bill that all us tax-paying Americans should be seeing in about a month or so. After all, it's intended to be a national stimulus and what better way to help the economy than buying more crap we don't need! (I'll make sure I buy American where ever possible) -
Ok, gotcha.

Yep, both of my images I posted were at a normal distance of 1.2xx and not improving, but then, as I said above, getting the destination image good in the first place was a pain in the arse. Even you had to reduce colors drastically, apparently, as you said. I prefer not to change the input images myself and make the best of the original as they are, but that's just my style. And I see in your image that you have the same "bar" going across the nose which is unacceptable to @_The Doctor__.
-
If you are talking about the "line" that is more than one scan-line, no, that is in the destination image and it would not change, that is not an error from evaluations. But I could try redoing everything from the beginning to come up with a destination picture that doesn't have it, but I'm really not all that interested in revisiting it. Because faces and skin tones are a pain to start with. I've been having real trouble with the picture of the blonde woman just getting skin tones that aren't totally blotchy looking for the destination picture and still haven't gotten one good enough to run. Rastaconverter just isn't good at skin tones which is why I rarely do faces myself. I only do them for others. I'd rather spend my time doing images that work better with Rasta. In any case, I've moved on and if someone else can manage better, have at it and good luck.

I managed to get a better forehead and a better eye on this conversion. Also, this image supports my argument that it's not about running a conversion forever, but about adjusting the settings so it doesn't have to run forever. This one took half the evaluations, 400 million. The first one I let run overnight and was over 800 million when I stopped it. This one was as good at 250 million, but I let it run longer in hopes it would get better. It didn't, in fact, some line segments where introduced beyond that. The Lady. 36 colors. TheLady.xex

I agree with your second sentence in the top line, and I agree with your last sentence. But before I drop it, I just want to thank you for making my judging words bold in your reply, I should have thought of that!

Yep, photo-shopped shirt, looking more closely, though they got wrinkles in from the lower half, there is no bulging around her breasts, the picture is flat.

#FujiNet doesn't boot on 1200XL
Gunstar replied to x=usr(1536)'s topic in #FujiNet SIO Network Adapter
Yep, even though on my Incognito 800 Fujinet boots fine, as it has the Incognito boot screen to allow Fujinet the time it needs, I always use the USB power so if I reboot my 800 everything stays the same on Fujinet. Plus, less amperage strain on the PSU with all the upgrades I have in her and more to come. Even if my 31VA PSU would be up to it. -
Last Squadron ABBUC software contest 2020
Gunstar replied to shanti77's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I think there are actually four levels in the ABBUC contest release, and there are going to be even more in the commercial release, IIRC. But I've only made it to level 2 myself, though I have made it to the boss at the end, so I'm getting closer to more level goodness! If only there were a pause feature and possibly a feature to start from higher levels like Space Harrier(though I've only gotten far enough along in it to allow me a level 6 starting point)...hopefully in the final version there will be. I remember making an initial comment about not liking the background music in L.S., but I do like the second level music! -
Me too.

The first VI65 image I did a triple take on, and had to look really hard to realize you did indeed type out "80" columns and it wasn't a typo that I thought said 28 columns the first two times. I think that tells me enough about how readable it's 80 column mode is for me; it's the worst 80-column software mode I've ever seen in and out of this thread. The 64 column mode looks fine, the 53 column mode, though it looks fine, I almost don't see the point; I might as well just use 40-columns.

Not for me, I don't even know if that shirt is in support or against the guy, it's quite vague and if it was against, I'd have expected the red circle with a line through it, but there isn't, but the caption seems to be pointing him out as a "landlord." It was purely a pre-judgement on the woman's appearance, which people these days seem to strive at making statements about themselves by what they wear and do to their bodies, and the statement she makes to me is exactly what I said about her. If that is a pro-chairman shirt and is some translated quote of his, then it just proves my judgement of her right IMHO. Because he was one of the biggest landlords ever even if he and his followers thought otherwise. If it's against him, I agree with the shirt. It's confusing to me though, because of the use of the word landlord. Surely there is a better word to get the message across, whatever it is suppose to be. But I'm not going to respond to @ivop's remarks except with a emoticon-

I'll certainly convert the first, but I wouldn't touch the second picture or woman with a ten-foot pole. I can't stand woman who denigrate themselves with so many tattoos and God-awful stretched ear-piercings and lip piercings and the like. Do they think it makes them look good? It just screams of "lunatic woman" to me. I've had to deal with or encounters with such denigrated woman too many times in my life and every last one of them I loathed. One arm tattoo like on the 'Lady' I can deal with...

Thanks for the credit, but you definitely spent far more time on it than I was willing too, and your last version is the best.

My current attempt appears to being going better, already the eye and forehead are coming along better. Big tits will be after that...
-
Here is my best of several attempts at the image @Faicuai posted in another thread and asked me to convert. I'm re-attempting though, as I don't like the "bloodshot" left eye in this conversion or the upper left forehead area. Lady. 33 colors. Lady1.xex

Well, the mirroring bit is intended to have the black area of the photo on the side of the Rasta screen that has less color change points and the face on the side with more. I'm not sure how mirroring it would allow me to crop less though, the Cropping bit is mostly for cutting off the length of this long photo and cutting off a bit of the white and black on both sides so the face can be "zoomed in" for more detail. I'm looking forward to see what you're posting about the 80-column editor! I assume you are referring to a replacement for the current 40-column editor that we have to put SDX back into 40-column mode to use? Will it also work in 64-column mode?

I bought a 1.0 Fujinet from The Brewing Academy for my 800, but have been planning on converting my 1030 into a wi-fi modem for my 1200XL long before Fujinet was started. I'm still going to do this with my 1030 for a version 1.3 (or better-depending on if 1.4 or higher comes along in the meantime). I have a similar idea of using it's SIO and LED's and PSU switch, etc. in my plan as well. My current plan is to keep the original 1030 board in there as it make a perfect mounting platform for the current SIO ports, LED's and power switch already in place, cut traces in suitable places and just use whatever board is available for Fujinet 1.3 mounted on the front bezel and make a slit for the SD card slot, then just run jumper wires & cables to the LED's, on/off switch and SIO & PSU port in the back and use a USB PSU with the proper barrel plug for it. The BT LED would be added to the front bezel as well. So only one new slit and one new hole in the front bezel is all I need to do to the 1030 case. Though I do think I'll change out the red LED's for white and orange, or at least one white for the wi-fi. I'd be interested in a board for the 1030 if anyone makes more besides for themselves.

Of course you know I'll have to crop everything but the head shot, and whether the freckles will turn out nicely we will have to see, it's going to be converted to pretty low res after all! This one looks like a perfect candidate for a mirrored image too.

Upcoming Feature - Host Slot to Host Slot Copy.
Gunstar replied to tschak909's topic in #FujiNet SIO Network Adapter
A Fujinet splash screen could be slapped onto the "Fuji Commander" if it's a separate program, maybe have it reside in extended memory for those with more than 64K. Maybe even something that works from inside SDX as well and can be set up in memory reserved for it in the Config.sys. A program like Fdisk or SDX menu file server. Unless the point is to have a "Fuji Commander" as a solo program so SDX doesn't have to be involved at all. Just spit-wadding to see what sticks as I don't know anything about R: and N: handlers yet and what all can already be done through SDX. -
I use a D1: boot disk, in my case from a real floppy drive that has the config.sys file and needed tools on it. The HDD driver for whatever type of HDD you are using needs to be in the config.sys file, for me, I use it with SSDX cartridge from Dropcheck and piggy-backed MyIDE II HDD APT partitions. On my Incognito 800 I use a floppy boot disk in drive one when I want to bypass SDX for Sparta DOS 3.x for use with the ATOS desktop, I use the Side HDD driver in the config.sys for it along with devices, etc. needed to set up ATOS. This way I don't have to worry about re-flashing SDX with a new config.sys and once the system is booted up, D5: becomes the new Main directory for HDD leaving 1-4 open for SIO.

3-D Printable Atari 8-bit Cartridge Holder
Gunstar replied to Bill Lange's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'll get auto leveling eventually, but once I get it right the first time manually, I don't expect a big issue with it going forward.
