  1. I went to go see Austin Powers the other day and they had a preview for Star Trek Nemisis... it said something like "The Final Voyage of a Generation Begins" ...whats the deal with that? Is this the last voyage of the 1701-E? Blah
  2. I've noticed this from time to time but it is definately the exception. Very rarely do I come across Activision titles in the wild that dont have plaque all over it. We have a huge discussion on this topic in another posting in this forum. You can access it here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11391
  3. Yeah I found that out earlier today too.. The Odyssey3 prototype was pretty nifty looking. I love their idea of making the Odyssey3 backwards compatable like the 7800 was, but also allowing new games to be created that could be played on both. Anybody have any pictures of the released unit or screenshots of graphics?
  4. I have mentioned before that we have an in-house label development & reproduction operation underway at Atari 7800.com, and now that we have file support and stuff I thought I would share them with you. Our first design is a simple reproduction of all of the original 7800 labels. They are identical with the exception of "Printed in the United States of America by Atari 7800.com" in tiny print on the bottom of the label. The second design, which we are placing on the common titles of our refurbished games, are featured below. These labels feature a new gloss black background with full-color graphic and copyright information on the bottom. We put these new labels on all of our refurbished cartridges so that we may get rid of the original labels which are usually dirty or torn and generally dont feature color graphics. This also allows us to create a refurbished cartridge that feels "new." We designed this label based off of our "There Are No Limits" advertisement which we did in December 2000, and is what we believe the 7800 cartridges would have look liked during the 1986-1988 period under Warner Communications. Our final label design is for the games we include as pack-in game cartridges with our system sales. Although these cartridges are brand new, we have designed these cartridge labels so that we can keep the pack-in titles in line with the rest of our packaging materials, which feature a similar blue background, including our box face, RF Switchbox, Owner's Manual, and even our Gift Certificates. Well anyway, these labels are not for sale or anything, but I thought I would share them with everybody nevertheless. (We do sell the black cartridges at: www.Atari7800.com/catalogue/pg8.htm ) Best wishes,
  5. I believe I saw something once on the Odyssey3 game system. I don't know if this is something I saw in a dream once or if it was actually real... I want to say that it was designed by Magnavox but never realeased because of the big crash in 84. I think it was white and looked somewhat like the Odyssey2 and had graphics on a par with ColecoVision and 5200. I'm also pretty sure that it had a built in keyboard as well. Anybody know anything about this?
  6. Thats pretty creative if you ask me.... have you tried "Football" on RS Football on the 5200 and so forth?
  7. Wow I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. This looks better than the Intellivision version Ive seen. Think you can get this to run on the XE and maybe the 7800?
  8. My box is just a regular silver Atari box... whats goin on here?
  9. I always wanted to see Miner 2049er on the 7800, I think it really would have shined on that platform. But yes, Miner and Bounty Bob are both excellent games as far as I am concerned. They are very typical of the computer platform games release between 1982 and 1985. They were both challenging and fun to play. The 2600 version doesnt live up to its counterparts, but it does the game justice considering it is playing on the 2600 with its limited capabilities.
  10. They should be the original one produced by TTi. I am not sure on price just yet.... I'm hoping to keep it below 59.95. Im targeting 39.95 though, but I'm not sure if thats feasible. But were gonna try =)
  11. oh you know what i mean. Its a cool idea.
  12. Ya know I gotta say this but Odyssey2 is just flat out a wonderful little system. Thruout my years growing up as "the kid who got an Atari for Christmas instead of a Nintendo" I have always been pretty narrow-minded when it came to game systems.... I stood by my Atari like a Captain going down with his ship, and for years and years I despised Nintendo and pretty much shunned all other non-Atari systems with the exception of a few underdogs (i.e., Turbo Grafx-16, Neo Geo, 3DO) ...these days I'm a lot more open to other systems, but one of the only true-classic systems that I actually had a real appreciation for was the Odyssey2. What a great system that was! Don't get me wrong, I love Stella, she's a beautiful lady, and I'd never cheat on her but the Odyssey2 was vastly under-rated at the time and ran in a distant third in a race against the 2600 and Intellivision. They were faced with poor advertising and numerous legal situations, such as the intellectual property suit regarding KC Munchkin being a rip-off of Pac-Man, etc. Once the ColecoVision came out, the Odyssey2's fate was pretty much sealed, and they went down without much of a fighting chance. The Odyssey2 just came with its own mentality ... it's so hard to explain to someone who doesn't own one or who just doesn't feel the love for the system. The Odyssey2 had all of the little extras that the 2600 was supposed to but never got released by Atari. The built-in keyboard was way ahead of its time, and the voice synthesis module was, in my opinion, far superior in quality to that of Mattel's and the nonexistent 2600 module. The games were unique compared to those of Atari's other competitors who normally just made their own version of popular Atari titles for their own system. Odyssey2 was different. I remember wishing that I could have had Pick Axe Pete, Freedom Fighter, and UFO on my Atari. That was really the only time in history (at least to that point) that I had felt rather "outdone" by another system. Anyway, for those of you lucky enough to actually own one of these rare systems, congratulations... you have something really special in the world of classic gaming. I can't say enough good things about these units, and this is coming from an extremely dedicated Atari enthusiast. Best wishes to all
  13. These are actually somewhat hard to find now days. We will be carrying them at TurboGrafx-16.com in the near future if you can hold off another month or so. www.turbografx-16.com Best wishes,
  14. I dunno if its a joke or not but I'm getting a good kick outa the "CX-NCC 1701-D" on your Avitar. Lol, creative.
  15. I'd say thats pretty rare... not quite an Atari System X or Cosmos or anything, but close to it. Could we see pictures?
  16. These labels are looking excellent! Keep up the good work. We will try to make sure we can get these into production within a week or so and test out the prototypes on some old activison cartridges. We can also set up a webpage for these reproductions as well. In the meantime keep checking back here for the latest advancements!
  17. Dave- I do have an extra Vader 2600 blackface 4-switch model in my personal collection if you'd like it. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, its basically mint in the original box with instructions ans papers. If you'd like I can send you pictures. Good luck!
  18. These really look authentic. I'll talk to the rest of the Atari 7800.com family and see if we cant go ahead and get these into production within the week. We already have a really serious in-house label design and production operation in place and underway, I don't see why we couldn't get these labels turned out within seven days. Good luck with your project.
  19. I just want to wish you guys luck with your new site. It's always nice to see people get into Atari and try to lead the masses to a better understanding of what Atari was all about, and help everybody get to enjoy Atari for what it was. Anyways I wish you guys the best.
  20. The Tramiels killed *everything* but their own egos. Why else do you think Sam Tramiel named it the ST.... its his own initials. This arguement can go back and forth for years... but it comes down to the bottom line... Jack Tramiel and sons did not save Atari... had they done what they stepped in to do, we would all be checking our email with Atari computers and playing with our brand new Atari systems.... not getting excited every time we see the lastest Infogrames game with a Fuji on it. The Tramiels did nothing with Atari but liquidate the assets and bring about a few nifty computers and games along the way that they didnt support. Anyways... I've spend enough breath in my life discussing these individuals. Now I wipe my @ss with them. Just my 2 cents.. (sorry if this was rather unprofessional, but it needed to be said)
  21. Actually that looks pretty accurate. As long as its in 400 dpi and is in .tiff format, you can send it my way and I will have the guys look it over and see if we can print these babies. We can start a development page at Atari 7800.com as well. Go ahead and finish the rest of the batch and catch up with me. We will take a look at them then. Thanks!
  22. I did not mean to say that Jack was trying to compete directly with Mortal Kombat.... all I'm saying is that he was trying to squeeze blood from a stone, looking for a game that could do what Mortal Kombat ended up doing a year or two later. Would have been cool to see something like that though.
  23. I have these.... which board layout do you need? Or do you just want the actual computer chip?
  24. Actually they are pretty much one and the same. Save Mary! was one of the last games designed for the 2600 and used a new kind of cartridge which utilized an Atari proprietary chip known as the Janice chip. This doubled the resolution capability of the 2600, and basically was the 2600 equivalent of the 7800's Super Game Cartridge. What has happened is that somebody (I'm not at liberty to say who) who has been working on this game for some time, was not able to get it to work appropriately on the 2600, but was able to beef it up and put it on a 7800 cartridge board and it plays beautifully in 2600 mode. Again I'm not allowed to say anything more about this game but if and when it is released, you will be sure to find it on Atari 7800.com. BTW - I know there have been some recent 7800 prototypes uncovered, including the Chuck Norris game.... but have there been any found that were in development after 7800 Pit Fighter? I do know that Pit Fighter was pretty late in the game... Jack supposedly got frustrated that he couldn't get a Mortal Kombat type game on the 7800 and then basically canned the whole 7800 line to focus on the Panther / Jaguar.
