Anybody with any other ideas they would like to present?
-
Thanks Stan. I assumed that's what had happened. I had a feeling they were a group of pretty young kids. I'm not trying to pass judgement on them, I welcome anybody with enthusiasm in Atari, however they way they spoke about their efforts sounded rather juvenille. They certainly did create a commotion on the list tho. Justin

It would be a great idea if someone remade all of the Activision labels... Activision had some great games out (Kaboom!, Pitfall, River Raid, need I continue?) and I dont think I have seen an Activision game for the 2600 which did NOT have plaque all over it since maybe like 1995. If anybody would be willing to develop these labels in 400+dpi I can have them produced. Or if somebody produces them on their own, we could help sell them on Atari 7800.com to help get them out. Anyways, cheers to anybody who'se willing to give this a shot! Justin Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

Either way I want these kids to contact me.
-
Do they have a webpage or anything? They were a big deal for about a week and then I never heard another thing on them.

We actually have produced brand new full color Antiplaque labels at Atari 7800.com. There are three label designs, one design for refurbished game cartridges, another design for pack-in cartridges which ship with our system sales, and ofcourse the original production labels. ... You can view the blue pack-in labels here: www.atari7800.com/prosystem ... and the black refurbished game labels here: www.atari7800.com/catalogue/pg8.htm And ofcourse the original reproductions look identical to the originals. We're working on doing exactly that. Posters from old cartridges that are crisp and clear for those who appreciate it. http://www.atari7800.com/catalogue/pg20.htm Justin Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

A month or two ago someone was posting that they had started a "company" called "AtariArts" and were calling it "the only Atari company" or something along those lines. They were coming up with new ideas for 2600 games and trying to learn how to program for the 2600. If I remember correctly, it created a little commotion. Im just curious as to whatever became of these guys and their efforts? Anyone know? Justin J. Scott Founder, Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

Room - I know the feeling man... I feel your pain. I feel pretty good after several hours of 2600 Asteroids or 7800 Ms. Pac Man.... but get me playing canyon bomber or yar's revenge for too long and blech... ill get a headache and just feel sick and think "why did i just waste 2 hours playing this stupid game?" Crappy games are even worse... if I play like circus Atari or some other no-good 3rd party game ill wanna puke after like 5-10 mins. What's worse is when you've spent all day at some flea market digging thru dirty sticky cartridges that smell like someone's basement. That's even more nauseating. Im not sure about Sentinel... it could have been the last game released in Europe but it was never officially released in the United States, although cartridges are available. Pit Fighter was the last game in development to make its way to light. I dont know about the European market, but if your talking about the US, and official licensing doesnt matter, then the last 7800 title would be Save Mary! which will be comming out soon from another Atari vendor. The last licensed US 7800 cartridge was the Monitor cartridge, and I am still not positive of the last 7800 game title to come directly out of Atari to be released in the States.

TurboGrafx-16.com - New Site!
Atari 7800.com replied to Atari 7800.com's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Just hang on a few more weeks! We will have Turbo Grafx-16 systems BRAND NEW in the box for sale! And they will be *alot* less expensive than our 7800 systems We will also carry brand new Turbo Duo and Turbo Express systems, as well as boxed refurbished PC Engine units. These will be sold thru a webstore which will be set up very much like what we have at Atari 7800.com. And as usual, everything sold will come with a 2-year limited warranty and 24-hr customer support. (sales will just be a small part of the site tho, it will have alot of history and game reviews and all that fun stuff as well) Anyways, we haven't started a waiting list yet for the systems, but I can start one if youd like to put your name on it =) Justin Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com PS- we still have a need for Turbo gamers to join our team and assist us with reviews and the like. If anybody is interested, just drop me an email. Thanks! -
Ya know, I have heard a few times that "The Eidilon" was supposed to be released on the 7800... what's interesting is that I haven't heard much talk about it among regular Atari gamers, its only been a few people that used to work with Atari or were vendors at the time that have mentioned that they "think" it was in development. From what I was told, it was developed for the C64 and the Atari 800 computers, and was going to be translated over to the 5200, but then they put that idea on hold to focus on making it for the 7800. But agian.... as I'm sure alot of you have noticed im big on Atari History and documentation, and backing up speculation with some sort of proof or historical material. "The Eidilon" is on my list of mysterious 7800 titles that I have been told was in development but have never ever seen anything on as far as announcements or paperwork. Games like GATO, Rescue on Fractalus, Klax, Pit Fighter, Save Mary!, and other titles have surfaced recently either in paperwork or in Rom coding, but then there are games like "The Eidilon" that no one seems to have any information on. Anybody care to shed more light on this? Justin Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

TurboGrafx-16.com - New Site!
Atari 7800.com replied to Atari 7800.com's topic in Classic Console Discussion
You're welcome! Infact we could really use some help right now if you (or anybody else) would like to work with us on making this a great site! If youd be interested in helping us with game reviews etc, email me or visit our "work with us" page by going to www.turbografx-16.com and clicking on the "work with us" link at the bottom of the home page. BTW- Robo- It's interesting that you posted this when you did. Ive spent the greater part of my evening playing Robotron: 2084 and then cooling off with a bit of Keith Courage. =) Best, Justin Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com -
Actually slimy they are half right.... it was *SUPPOSED* to be released for the 7800 sometime in 1985 or 1986, but after Atari was purchased by the Tramiels and the 7800 was put on the backburner, Rescue on Fractalus was released on the 5200 along with Ballblazer, both being from Lucas Arts. Although Ballblazer eventially made it to the 7800 as we all know, however Rescue on Fractalus didnt quite. It was in development for the 7800, and I am trying to get ahold of one of the prototype Roms for this never released 7800 title. So yeah... they are sorta right, sorta wrong. Depends on how you look at it =) Justin J. Scott Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

I had to do this 50 times last weekend... ouch! There really is no trick to the proline controller disassembly. Here are a few easy steps to get the controller appart: 1.) Unscrew the Pro-Line Joystick and pull out the buttons w/ springs. 2.) Get a pair of plyers or grips and get ahold of the metal joystick shaft which is exposed when the two half-shells of the joystick are seperated, and hold TIGHT. 3.) Grab ahold of the joystick knob with your hand, or a pair of rubber grips, and TWIST HARD 4.) Twist back and forth, pulling the knob off of the metal shaft. 5.) Once the knob is off, you can easily slide the shaft out of the joystick, and take off the white spider at the base of the shaft. I hope this helps. I have TONS of joystick parts if you need anything extra in your work. Good luck to all! Justin J. Scott Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

This sounds like a good thing to document on our 7800 History page at Atari 7800.com. If anybody has knowledge of any definate factual release dates and development dates for any of the games in the 7800 library that they wish to share, please contact me at [email protected], or on our 24-hour customer assistance line at 941.598.1862. I would love to get a database of this stuff together. This way we will not have to rely on heresay and speculation any longer. Thanks Justin J. Scott Atari 7800.com / Turbo Grafx-16.com

The 7800 was originally released in the spring of 1984 (mid May I believe) with a small library of tested & true classic arcade titles to support it. (This was only a month or so before the Tramiels took control and canned the 7800 until 1986) The original 1984 launch titles, according to the documentation that I have, are as followes: Centipede Joust Ms. Pac Man Dig Dug Asteroids Robotron: 2084 Food Fight Dentipede Galaga Pole Position II I'm fairly sure that other titles such as BallBlazer, Desert Falcon, Impossible Mission, and unreleased games such as SkyFox and Rescue on Fractalus would have been 1985 releases had Atari remained under Warner control. As far as Centipede not being the first released 7800 game, it was definately the first official 7800 working development title, and was released right along with the other original titles. Lance @ Video61 can back this up. If you have something to back up the idea that Centipede was indeed *not* the first developed and released 7800 title, id love to see it. The *LAST* official Atari game release is debatable. Some would say that it was the 7800 High Score Cartridge which was released by the AHS in 2000. However that was not an officially licensed item for the 7800. The last officially released licensed cartridge for the 7800 was the Monitor Cartridge in 1992 or 1993. ...but that didnt come directly out of Atari, nor is it really a game, but more of a computer program. I cant say for sure which was the last released 7800 game cartridge. I want to say it was Midnight Mutants but im pretty sure that there was one or two more after that, and I cant find the paperwork regarding the last released games. But again, the official last licensed 7800 title was the Monitor cartridge. Hope this helps... Justin Atari 7800.com / TurboGrafx-16.com

The first games came in 1984 actually, not 1986. Centipede would be officially known as the first release as it's designation is CX-7801, the 01 being the first title for the 7800.

Specials: Atari Lynx, Neo Geo, 3DO, Sega Saturn
Atari 7800.com replied to Atari 7800.com's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Just an update... we are almost out of 3DO and Neo Geo merchandise. We will most likely unlist these items within a week or so unless we can procure some more units. Thanks! -
007- I don't know what to tell ya. We designed the site to be 100% compataible with Explorer and I've never had a problem. Maybe you should try a direct link to the home page.... http://www.atari7800.com/delta Hopefully that will work. If not, try visiting our other sites at www.TurboGrafx-16.com, and www.ManhattanDM.com. You can link to 7800.com from both of those. If you keep having problems, just email me directly and Ill try to work with you on it.

It took me over 10 years to master Karateka. I bought it in like 1987 after playing Shinobi on my best friends Sega MasterSystem. Like all of you I was utterly disappointed. There was just no comparison. However I tried to make the best of it. Once you figure out how to control the character and move him around and understand the combos etc, it's ALOT more fun. But for 10 years I hated it until I got used to it. It's certainly a basket case game. Justin Atari 7800.com PS- I also saw the C64 version of Impossible Mission and I was very suprised to plug in the 7800 version and see how beautiful it was. The way the secret agent man does gymnastics thru the air is just incredible.

TurboGrafx-16.com - New Site!
Atari 7800.com replied to Atari 7800.com's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Albert- Thanks for the warm response to our new site! Unlike the Atari systems, the Turbo Grafx line of systems has virtually NO support by either sales, service, or a centralized website. We are trying to change this in a big way. We have found that many long-time Atari gamers turned to the TurboGrafx-16 for their 16-Bit era gaming needs once they realized that the Panther would never see the light of day. It's really a unique and innovatiave system that deserves its place in the videogame hall of fame. Thank you to all for supporting our new site! Justin J. Scott Atari 7800.com / TurboGrafx-16.com PS- Atari 7800.com will not be neglected due to the efforts of our new website. -
The reason why when you click on Zonk it takes you to Atari 7800.com is because we have just begun work on TurboGrafx-16.com, and there really isn't a whole lot to see yet, as compared to Atari 7800.com. This way curious visitors who click on Zonk will see our previous efforts (Atari 7800.com) and have an idea of what to expect when TurboGrafx-16.com fully launches. In the mean time there are pages on Turbo History, Turbo Duo, Turbo Express, About TurboGrafx-16.com, among other pages which are fully funtional and accessable to the public. Once TurboGrafx-16.com launches in the next few months, the link to Atari 7800.com will change and the link from Zonk will then take you to the new TurboGrafx-16.com homepage. Thanks to everyone for visiting! Justin J. Scott Atari 7800.com / TurboGrafx-16.com
