I'm not too sure on the controller issue. I had to use the standard controller last night, my cv controller of choice, the spectravideo quickshot III, decided to develop a case of the no-go-righties. I generally enjoy it better with the tall-stick control than the two-finger style of the base controller. gavv

I haven't played this in quite a long while as well. Still plenty of rust to shake off. Now that it's offline for now, I don't remember what my TG high score was gavv 23465

Just wanted to check, is that Wednesday Oct 31 (Halloween) or Sunday Oct 28th? gavv - That's what I get for putting it up without checking a calendar, end time corrected (cparsley) -
gavv Ryan Gavigan Indy 500 Game 6 score - 44 I pulled out the ol cart out and gave it a whirl again, and I haven't lost my touch (granted growing up in Indy i have played this literally since launch ). One thing I'd note for emu players, is that I don't think there's any way you can be as quick and precise unless you have the driving controller. There's just enough reaction time needed to cut corners, reduce drive distance and spin on a dime quickly enough without hitting walls that keyboard or other controller just can't quite keep up.

IIRC, it was in the low 40s. Most Indy500 hi scores got maxed out (ie 15 on game 1B,etc) but game 6 is one where both skill and a little luck in ball placement left room for more. gavv

HSC Season #3 - Game #9 BurgerTime!

Not bad at all, well done. That was almost exactly where I was at when I first set my 2000ish Tg high score, level 22 at iirc 332900. Getting much past 22 is very tough. I may have done that only once Gavv -

key to board 7 is hoarding livesand peppers before getting there. Minimum i've ever cleared it or board 14 is about 2 lives and 2 peppers (usually in a good game, you'll have accumulated many more men than peppers, so sacrifice them before peppers. (I'll refer to platforms via #s, from left to right, then from bottom to top, so 1.5 would be the top left where the pickle starts out) Hot dog comes out at the left side, 'level' 2 (1.2). best way to start is go up the ladder from 2.1 to 2.2, go left and edge onto 1.4 so the bottom left hot dog goes left on 1.1, and that the hot dog from the right goes *up* from 3.3 to 2.3 and not down to 2.2. That allows you to slip back down past 2.2 back to 2.1 before the hotdog comes back from 1.1, and drop him on the 1.1 ingredient. Keep moving right and you now have all ingredients following you from behind and for a little while at least won't get trapped from both directions while you do some damage getting those upper ingredients lower. It also gets you the chance to be near the ketchup when it first appears gavv -

gavvv 508,850 One final game, definitely played smoother, and had my best ever board one (54,500), and about 267000 after board 7, finishing off just making it to board 19. -

gavvv Ryan Gavigan 427,350 Decided to play some after watching a rousing Colts comeback. I've been using the ultimate pc interface so i can use an actual Inty controller. just can't seem to like keyboard controls . and included, some snapped pics of L7,8,9,10 of apple 2 burgertime. levels 1-6 are fairly close to arcade/cv levels. Controls are worse than i remembered, keyboard control directions stay active until you actively choose another direction. -

it was a 5 minute setup just to get something since intvdude asked about it . just enough to get an idea in general how i handle some levels, and getting something up immediately without having to do any conversions. I'll see about getting some non-webcam vid recordings of the A2 Burgertime gavv (and only have the gavvv acct as the email tied to gavv was lost eons ago and i lost logins for it ) -

I never quite dug the NES burgertime version, though haven't played it in a while. Beef Drop for 5200,A8bit, 7800 are good, though i in general don't like the drop-the-enemies-and-they-respawn-instead-of-reviving-where-they-dropped behavior. 2600 - Slow, respawning enemies, can be on one level and be killed by an enemy on the next level down in certain places. But on positive side has mostly consistent behavior. C64 - absolute worst BT version on classic systems. ugly and plays totally different Apple2 - good looking for A2 of the time, only controls with keyboard (no joystick support as far as I know), and unique and many levels (that is by far my favorite part of the A2 version, levels you wont' see elsewhere). TI994A - decent but very slow and has imho, broken scoring system. you get as many points for squashing enemies as you do dropping them. CV - good controls, easier to score high. you notice INTV version adds a touch of randomness to how ingredients revive after drops, can be spread out some and go different directions, making grouping tough. in CV, you can hold together an 8k group for multiple consecutive drops fairly easily. Has a game ending glitch that cuts the game short if you do not avoid the scenario to produce it Gameboy - BT Deluxe has unique things like extra long ingredients and some random mini-games. GBC - Flintstones BT in Bedrock - not really that interesting and has some confusing and unpredictable gameplay controls. Mattel Aquarius - surprisingly holds up. Fidelity is much lower on this machine. good controls similiar to INTV but can be a bit clunky almost a bit like a halfway point between an Inty version and a LED tabletop version. gavv -

keep trying! Key is getting comfortable maneuvering without *having* to clear the board or rushing to clear the board, dropping enemies only from the bottom-most ingredients, then you can work on grouping for higher drops. I played for many months back in 83-84 at my best friend's house as it and Utopia were our favorite games. took a while to master timing but i remember in the day getting to max about 160k. gavv -

yeah, i'd bumped the cable of it with my knee and had to keep trying to nudge it one handed while glancing 90 degrees to the side to check the ustream window and get it recentered ^^; -

gavvv, Ryan Gavigan 369,250 I tried a ustream of it, and it 'recorded' , though it's a flimsy webcam connected to a laptop with a not so optimized lighting setup for the game area, and i apparently didn't enable sound, but it's there. http://www.ustream.t...corded/25866295 key is being able to point press and group effectively especially on the 2nd 'fry' board (5) that gives you the most ladders to work with and on the 2.5 board, getting some 8k's are pretty key. -

pretty much all my old score videos either tape or tape->dvd that were sent to TG were my only copies (only my Inty and CV burgertime vids might've been mildly interesting, maybe some roc n rope or 2600 indy 500 maybe). I'll try and record a ustream of it and see how it goes. gavv -

not bad, not bad. I'll try to shake off some rust and get a quick 300k up there tonight. hadn't played in a few years after my TG 400k until playing at the Intellivision Prod table at CGE (plenty of rust and mental errors only getting to about 220k). I'm glad I finally noticed it in time when it made it around HSC again gavv -

memory a tad hazy but that looks like its from CGE02, didn't they have a travel issue with the band's instruments and had to scrounge up some borrowed gear to play on that morning?, or was that just some movie plot i'm misremembering -
