Question about backing up sega cd games
DragonmasterDan replied to ultramoo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If ripped properly it will work. Yeah, but using standard disc copying software it won't it since as I said the original disc isn't an ISO complaint CD. That's the problem. I've tried to copy it using a lot of different types of software to no avail. It's my favorite game of all time (hence the screen name) and the day will eventually come when the disc will rot or otherwise lose its readability and I'd like to still be able to play it. -
Question about backing up sega cd games
DragonmasterDan replied to ultramoo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Backups of Lunar the silver star freeze on an actual Sega CD system (it seems to run okay on emulators) around the opening FMV. The game isn't a normal ISO standard image so copying it doesn't work right. The original glass mastered disc always works fine. -
What 2600/VCS games don't work with the 7800?
DragonmasterDan replied to DragonmasterDan's topic in Atari 7800
I have a few Imagic games that don't boot, maybe that's why. I've had no problems with my activision titles though. I've actually had pretty good luck with it all things considered, I have a four switch that is in a box unused so I could use that to potentially test if I have bad carts or it's the 7800. I'm guessing mine is a later model due to the lack of the expansion slot (or any sign of where it would be) -
I've read that some VCS/2600 games do not work with the 7800 (or certain models of the 7800). Does anyone have a list of what games are known to be problematic and does anyone know why?

Some games only boot with new batteries?
DragonmasterDan replied to DragonmasterDan's topic in Atari Lynx
I don't have an AC adapter for my Lynx to test that with for comparison. Do you have a Lynx I or II? -
I've noticed on my Lynx II some games only boot with brand new fresh batteries (example Crystal Mines or Chips Challenge) then other games will always boot even if the battery is almost dead. Has anyone else noticed this?

So as I mentioned in my earlier thread I have only one working proline after doing surgery on two of them and having to replace some of the metal contacts from one to transplant in the other in order to have one fully functioning stick. At this point I am debating on getting an Atari Joypad CX78 or a new proline. What other options are there that offer both button functionality? Any suggestions?

Of the variations of 2600 Hardware released to the public, what are the rarest. I'm guessing the Columbia Home Arcade and the Sears Video Arcade II would be the least common but are there others I'm forgetting?

Flashback 1 sticks
DragonmasterDan replied to DragonmasterDan's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
No. They might work with other NES knock-offs that use 9-pin plugs (and there are several), but they won't work with anything expecting an Atari-compatible joystick. Yeah, I own a Yobo Neo Fami (which has the same pin out as the Atari platforms but has incompatible controllers) -
Do flashback 1 7800 style sticks work on actual Atari 2600 and 7800 systems? I know the flashback 2 sticks do but I'm curious about the flashback 1 sticks.

I took a look on Best's page. Do the Sega to Atari converter cables allow you to use two buttons for the 7800? Considering some of what I've read about the 7800 pads I am wondering if that might be a better purchase.

I did some surgery to the working one and have it working, kind of, moving right is extremely stiff, I had to realign the joystick presser outline below the stick with the sensors. Are the sticks supposed to be super stiff? On a side note I located one of my old VCS sticks which is definitely a lot more responsive.

I just got my Atari 7800 in the mail today, and unfortunately neither pro line controller works. One has buttons that work (but not the stick itself), the other seems completely unrecognized by the system. At the moment I'm using a genesis controller and an atari trackball. Any suggestions for how to repair a pro-line? Is it even possible?

I just picked up (but have not yet recieved) an Atari 7800 on ebay. I own a questionably functional VCS with a handful of games I bought years ago as a wee lad. I own a Lynx and some games and I bought a Jaguar roughly around the time of its release in 1993 (well technically in early 1994 when Tempest 2000 was released) and eventually the CD add on . The 7800 seems to fill my need for a better functioning VCS as well as plug a hole in my console collection (I have most US consoles released since 1985 with the Laseractive, Amiga CD 32, Nuon and Playstation 3 and N-gage) being the only exceptions I can think of offhand. I'm getting a pretty decent collection of 7800 (and more 2600) games with it. So I have a few questions for Atari fans out there. First off, I hear the 7800 controllers are bad. I've heard people mentioning that Best Electronics has the control pads, is it worth investing 15.00 each in new controllers for it, or will the pack in sticks work decently? The second question is are there any must have relatively speaking titles for the 7800? The third question is are there dip switches ala the 2600 on the system somwhere? from the pictures I've seen they don't appear to be visible. If not, how is difficulty and other settings adjusted? Thanks.
