Who Bought Neo Geo Games 'Back in the Day'?
DragonmasterDan replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Back in the day, usually between 199.99 and 299.99 US. Also So tough, you have to realize the exchange rate at the time was different when you got Special Champion Edition, that would have been around 90.00 US in the early 90s (it was around 1.6 Pounds to the Dollar). -
Who Bought Neo Geo Games 'Back in the Day'?

Babbages and EB carried Neo Geo stuff in the early 90s, so did Software Etc. Funcoland carried used stuff. Some ToysRus stores carried the system (gold package only) and no games or accessories, due to its high price (and likely poor sales at those locations) by 1992 I think TRU dropped the Neo-Geo. -

Well MVS games were mostly bought by arcade owners Anyway, as far as AES stuff goes I got mine around 96 or so but I didn't buy games new at the time. In fact until about 1999 I only had two games for the system. -
The Wii is just over a year old, so games designed for the Wii that are in the 10-15 dollar range are probably pretty awful since they either massively dropped in price or were priced in that range to begin with. I think there's a lot of good GameCube games you can find in that price range though.

Everyone wants it, it's awesome and has online play.

Article on Telenet games.
DragonmasterDan replied to jboypacman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I was in a discussion about telenet just a week or so ago on another board. So this is rather interesting. -
From what I read there's a lot of platforming elements ON FOOT with the same loose terrible control of the on foot segments of the Saturn version, only in this game you actually have to do things on foot besides jump into the Nights suit and make your way back to the gazebo.

What? There are videogames after 1984?

I always think of the C64 as being a computer. If it comes with a keyboard by default to me it's a computer. -
I just won the auction today. In fact it was a spur of the moment purchase, I saw the auction with a few minutes left and decided to bid. Anyway the auction says it's tested and working, I'll find it out when I actually get it (which may be a while since I'm certain it will be shipped the most inexpensive way possible at 6.00 for shipping costs). Oh also I guess I should ask how does the Colecovision compare to say the Telegames Personal Arcade clone for example? Also no one really went over any must have games.

This is the wrong forum but...

You mean the contacts in the cart? Try an eraser, you may want to use those hexnut screwdriver heads to take the carts apart and clean the contacts out from both sides thoroughly. Some games just can't be restored. -
I heard talk about it at the time, but once Sega started talking about Katana (which would become Dreamcast) the feeling in the Sega community was that it would be a Katana game (it was in the form of Virtua Fighter 3: Team Battle).

Holy $#&^! My wife just scored one!
DragonmasterDan replied to RickHarrisMaine's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
Yeah, Wii play comes with a wii more and an extra nunchuck gives you two basic sets. Also you DEFINITELY want Mario Galaxy. -
There's a lot of RPGs with those kinds of plots, the problem is much like most movies, most video games have particularly terrible character development. Lunar 2 has that story that's done fairly well for example. But it's uncommon to see it pulled off without it being headache inducingly terrible.

Fell Victim To The Infamous Three Red Flashing Lights!
DragonmasterDan replied to fdurso224's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
The problem isn't just the cooling system, the problem is the inability for heat to dissipate throughout the case. It's a bad design from a thermal management standpoint, you can't just put a big enough fan, or toss heatsink in there because there isn't enough room to do so adequately. In Microsoft's rush to address some of the complaints with the original Xbox (one of which was that it was physically too big) they failed to consider proper heat standards. If you made a special case (thus voiding the warranty) for your Xbox 360 and ran it that way then it wouldn't ideally have any problems. But using its current form factor there isn't enough room for the CPU or GPU to escape. And it's not like this problem has been entirely solved. Microsoft's first fix was a slightly beefier heatsink, it still doesn't solve the problem entirely. The new Falcon CPU's help, but the GPU still does overheat. Added in edit: I guess I should clarify that the problem is with the form factor of the 360 and not with the cooling system itself. There's just not enough room for air to flow. -
My thoughts on Game Boy Color (rant alert)
DragonmasterDan replied to Segataritensoftii's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Exactly, the GBC was a stop gap measure. It was to keep any further handheld market share from going to new competitors like the NGP and Wonderswan in the East and the Game.Com of Western markets. It's also worth noting that the Wonderswan (under a new name) may have come here. Mattel signed a licensing deal with Bandai to bring the Wonderswan family of handhelds to North America going so far as to hire Bernie Stolar (former SCEA and then Sega of America head honcho) to run it. The problem was that many of the important games for the platform were designed by third parties like Namco or Square who were not interested in publishing for the platform in North America. This would have forced Mattel to license and localize most any Wonderswan products that made it out here. This is ultimately what led to Mattel's decision to abandon release of it. -
The second web browser version was available exclusively from Sega as part of a package with Virtual On. I think there is a browser 1.0, I have both browser discs "somewhere" I'd need to look. Also I can look at my Enemy Zero as well, I'm guessing it also was black sleeves only but I don't know for certain. Added in edit: The later browser that included Virtual On and Sega Rally was 3.0. I have no idea about a 1.0. Also my Enemy Zero has black slip cases.
