Nice going Ryan. I like how it's coming along, very well done.
-
However, to follow up on Asteroids not being so hot with the controls, there is a better port of Asteroids that even blows Meteorites away, check out Asteroids Arcade, I have the ROM right here, I just might do a review on it after I film the one for Star Island, in which also has great control in which is much better, but yes do check them both out. It even looks just like the arcade version (hold down the fire button for repetitive fire) Check it for yourself!!!

Well, OK, except for the ones that were written with really tight tolerances for the values read off the pots. There are a few third-party games that give me trouble with that.
One of those games would be Asteroids, I have frustration with both keeping it on center and avoid inadvertent thrust (up) and hyperspace/shields (down) activation, there needs to be more of a dead zone between all 4 directions, perhaps maybe @playsoft, @Ryan Witmer or @Wrathchild can come up with that much-needed fix for this otherwise great classic game, it would've been (as I mentioned in Episode 2 of the 5200 Edition of The Atari Report) a great pack-in game as opposed to Super Breakout, even though that was a good game also. BTW I have included the ROM here from 1982 so maybe one of those three can come up with that control fix. Asteroids could very well become my favorite game if they can come up with that fix.

Hey @Ryan Witmer how 'bout them Hawks!!! I myself am a Raiders fan (since 1982, Los Angeles Raiders). Pretty impressive!!!
I don't know how we played against Carolina but I am looking forward to seeing what our new stadium looks like soon!!!

I plan of reviewing Star Island on this next 5200 Edition of The Atari Report and I will be filming the episode this afternoon and it should be up later tonight after I add the in-game voiceover for it.
As for the 2600 Edition I will be reviewing Dennis @DEBRO's masterpiece, Pac-Man 4K for the 2600.
Both episodes will be ready and uploaded to YouTube by tomorrow morning if not later tonight.

Next is probably Thunder Castle. I haven't put too much thought into it but it seems pretty workable. Another is Space Battle. I would also like to see some of the awesome Imagic games get ported over, White Water, Beauty and the Beast, and Demon Attack come to mind right away.
There's one Imagic game that I think 5200 owners would definitely go for..... Microsurgeon

Hey guys,
I started another thread for Intellivision games you want to see for the 5200!!!:
-
Since @Ryan Witmer is working on his own version of Tron: Deadly Discs for the 5200 with his really nice Intellidiscs I was wondering what other Intellivision games would YOU want to see ported/converted to the 5200 SuperSystem
Here are some of my ideas:
Night Stalker
Lock & Chase
Space Battle
Astrosmash
Space Hawk
Star Strike
Bump 'n' Jump
Thin Ice
Diner (we have Beef Drop already so why not the sequel!)
anyone have a wish list of their own???
-
Works on Big Sexy with my Atarimax, thanks once again @playsoft!!! I'll try to get it down pat this week and later give my full review of it on The Atari Report - 5200 Edition!!! 😊
....and yes, you WILL get your full credit on this one as I always do with everyone who comes up with gems like these!!!
Let's see:
Scramble, Yar's Strike, Galaga, Moon Patrol Redux, and now this!!! Wonderfully done!!!

bump. @Elias2600 where have you gone? We're still all waiting to see your finished version of this awesome project!!! 😊

I was wondering, so that I don't have ti get a Harmony Encore for my VCS adapter if anyone will ever put out a patch or added firmware so that I/we can play the most-recent lineup of ARM-based games such as Galagon, Robotron 2084, and the soon-to-be worked on Qix (all from Champ Games) on the FB9 series. None of the newer games that utilize an ARM-based program in it will currently work on it.
Is it AtGames that refuses to put out a patch so we can enjoy these and other ARM-based games in the short future??? I find the FB9 to be more convenient to use than a Harmony Encore on my 5200's VCS adapter or the R77 as the controls are all on the P1 joystick (I also use a 6-to-10-foot extension cord from my FB9 on my home a/v system here at BIGHMW.com World Headquarters and use it during my reviews of various games on the 2600 Edition of The Atari Report as many of you have seen before if you noticed it.
I would love to be able to play Galagon, Robotron:2084 and Qix and other ARM-based games on my FB9, we just need a firmware patch so we can do so.

That'll work.

Just checking in, anybody get started on a 5200 version of Star Island yet?
Here are those links to the ROMs again to stir up interest:

Getting back to the 8K version of Pac-Man BY FAR THIS ONE succeeds in bringing the (almost) true arcade version to the 2600, you can find out about it right here:
...and here is the ROM for it, I hope this was @DINTAR816's work if so then this is genius!!!

In this episode, mentally disabled musician and entertainer Ray Jackson introduces and reviews a variation of Megamania with a little bit of baseball flavor in it, Red 5's clever and genius work, YankeeMania, for the Atari 2600 Video Computer System.
WARNING: This game contains graphic elements and gameplay which may be offensive to Boston Red Sox fans

Yes. But, the honing bombs become faster with every passing wave, that's the big danger.

Whoever converts Star Island for the 5200 will get full credit and also I will review it on The Atari Report - 5200 Edition.
BTW. I will be recording the in-game voiceover for the 5200 conversion of Thetris this afternoon and then it will be uploaded along with @Red 5's brilliant Megamania hack, the baseball-oriented YankeeMania on the 2600 Edition of TAR as well, that was finished quite some time ago, but yes, provided someone make Star Island for the 5200, I will give it a full review and let all of you know what I think.
Here is the A8 version of Star Island to stir up interest:

Here it is in action since the link wasn't optimized so I copied and pasted it so I can see for myself, DO IT!!!
We would love to see a 5200 conversion of Star Island!!! How many are with me on this??? @Wrathchild @playsoft @Ryan Witmer???
I called for a 5200 port of Yars' Revenge (based on @Thelen's brilliant Yar's Strike) and playsoft delivered for me (it took 4 years to have happen as nobody took it seriously except for him and look at the success it became, why not Star Island???
I also included the ROm of Yar's Strike that he did up, it's tougher than the original Yars' Revenge ever was, as the Qotile is more aggressive in this one, especially as a swirl, outta nowhere he strikes at Yar, as he is quicker than in the OG 2600 version.

That they did, I also have that ROM as well, so here it is.
BTW I also did download all of Ebivision's games on ROM too, you can find them right here:
http://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-2600-vcs-ebivision_publisher_2219_2_G.html
BTW, ignore the SECAM listing, they work fine on my Flashback 9 and might work on Harmony Encore as well.

Thanks for the heads up @johnnywc. well they say great things come to those who wait, so I'll indeed do that. Also thanks for your post on my review of Scramble on The Atari Report (one of three unique YouTube channels I have, the others being BIGHMW TV and also my Ray Jackson YouTube channel), those two will be getting a huge makeover as I plan to move some of my miniseries, such as "Ray's Rants", "Loyalty To Royalty", "What's In the Closet?" and more from BIGHMW TV to my Ray Jackson YouTube channel, with BIGHMW TV strictly about me as faux-gangsta rapper AK47, and also my old days with S.M.F. (with me as The Heavy Metal Warrior as frontman) with select highlights from previous shows as well as complete concerts on both of those personas as well. All that work will be finished in time for the fall TV season.
