BIGHMW replied to BIGHMW's topic in Atari 2600
Before I film any more episodes I need to know, if you guys like the current format with uninterrupted gameplay followed by a brief review or would you guys want some added quotes during gameplay (added narration)??? -
The Atari Report - 2600 Edition - Episode 1 - Chaotic Grill!
BIGHMW replied to BIGHMW's topic in Atari 2600
Anytime bro. I was going to add narration but because you and others like the game action not disturbed by added narration I will just go ahead and leave this and the first 5200 episode as they are and all future episodes with also be without narration during game play, with just a short overall analysis after game play. Thanks! My 2 new miniseries (this and also the 5200 Edition of The Atari Report) are a hit!!! -
In this episode, mentally disabled musician and entertainer Ray Jackson introduces and reviews the new spin of the 1983 arcade game Burgertime, with AtariAge user Splendidnut's newest homebrew game for the Atari 2600 Video Computer System, "Chaotic Grill!". Here is the links to both games so you can download and try both the original Burgertime 2600 port from 1983 and also this new 2600 homebrew version of it shown here as well. #ChaoticGrill #Atari2600 #TheAtariReport Burgertime.bin ChaoticGrill.bin

BTW, just 24 hours off from having debuted the first episode of the 5200 Edition, I will be filming and debuting the 2600 Edition as I will be showing off and reviewing @splendidnut's new spin on Burgertime, his wonderfully-produced Chaotic Grill! That will be shown eventually (and how do you guys feel about it) tonight both with and without narration during the gameplay part of my review. Filming starts at 6:00 tonight and it should be up soon after that, first without and then later on with narration added on as a separate episode (same episode number just tagged w/narration)

The Atari Report - 5200 Edition - Episode 1 - Yar's Strike
BIGHMW replied to BIGHMW's topic in Atari 5200
Well, I finally figured out how to add narration to the existing audio on the clip you guys are enjoying here using Windows 7 Movie Maker, the only misunderstanding I had was that the existing audio is muted only in the process of recording the narration, but, it adds it onto the already existing audio, so yes I will be adding the narration onto this existing clip and relaunching this episode as well as filming the debut episode of the 2600 Edition of The Atari Report, so stay tuned for both, and yes, there will be narration on top of the existing audio on all future TAR episodes for both systems as well. GAME ON!!! -
In this episode, mentally disabled musician and entertainer Ray Jackson introduces and reviews the new spin of the 1981 Howard Scott Warshaw classic Atari 2600 game, "Yar's Revenge", with this newly-ported 5200 version from AtariAge user "playsoft" called "Yar's Strike", adapted from the original 8-bit port originally programmed by AtariAge user "Thelen" back in 2009, for a mini-comp game contest entry which limited entries to 4K or less. Here is the link to @Thelen's original 8-bit port and also the link to @playsoft's 5200 version I just presented: Yar's Strike - 8-bit Version.zip Yar's Strike - 5200 Version.bin

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! A 5200 version is here for you 5200 owners to download and try out, you can thank @playsoft for converting this great classic, just 4 years after I first saw the original 8-bit version on this topic that @Thelen created way back in 2009. It's an awesome (and tough) game to play but yes after 4 years after I called for a 5200 port Big Sexy finally has one of her own!!! Here's the ROM for all of you!!! Yar's Strike.bin

Thanks!

Well, I tried to defeat the dreaded Qotile in "Yar's Strike" and only managed to beat him once in 2 days and about a dozen plays, it's so much more difficult than "Yars' Revenge" was for the 2600. And with that said, should I just go ahead and do my "live-as-I-play-it" review anyways even if I don't destroy the Qotile??? I WAS going to post a take yesterday but couldn't for fear of embarrassing myself in the process of reviewing it. I should give it another take or two tomorrow morning/afternoon so I can post it as one of my many reviews of different 2600 and 5200 games I intend to debut this Saturday, about 2 or 3 of each system to start and then as the number of views hopefully goes up a few more every week after that. The camcorders (both Sony HDR-CX12 Memory Stick Handycam units) and lights (LS Photography) are all set in the positions I need them in, in which will be bookmarked with blue tape spots on the floor, just like they do in many TV studios, it's just a matter of filming the clips, and posting them up on both the 2600 and 5200 forums respectively by this Saturday, so watch for them and if you like what you see on them, or anything else you might see then hit the subscribe button on my official BIGHMW TV YouTube channel (site address in my signature below)!!!

Here are the Main Title Openings for both Editions of "The Atari Report", ENJOY!!!

That'll work. BTW great theory and yes I DO know that Red + Blue = Purple, just like Red + Yellow = Orange. I used to take Play-Doh and mix up the colors to get just the right shades too back when I was a kid, back then they only came in red, yellow, blue and white, so I had to improvise.
-
Makes me wish I should've kept one more Redemption 5200 unit (either 2600/Sega or 7800-compatible) as it would've made Super Twin 78 work with Big Sexy for both 5200 Robotron and Space Dungeon, and also by itself for use with the VCS adapter for 2600 Robotron for it
-
Hey I notice you're just an earshot away (past the Hood Canal Bridge, a Bainbridge-to-Seattle Ferry ride and a trip down SB on I5) from me here in PT down in Burien, you're right about the 7800 having its own colors, but anyway with wearing face masks becoming State law under Governor Jay Inslee (D - WA) don't you wish by now they had Atari logo face masks in both 2600 red and 5200 blue, just like the t-shirts I stole the jpegs off of to create those openings??? Those T-shirts are available at https://www.supergraphictees.com/product/atari-video-game-logo-t-shirt/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw-Mr0BRDyARIsAKEFbec4G6stLTSeqtinqbrDbIJKy-HCgaJNtRp5Xfj2_5qHQz2PDmow8E4aApqAEALw_wcB

Well, I tried to play Yar's Strike while narrating at the same time, but, it seems like I've sorta lost that gaming touch I used to have about up until 20 years ago (starting from 1983 when I was 17 until 2000), but, that is nothing that can't be regained, but I have to hit the games hard in order to be able to get it back, but since i don'y know how to use third-party narrating on Windows 7 Movie Maker, even though I do have twin camera angles and the ability to splice them together for any kind of continuity, I have to get it again, but it's kinda like talking and chewing gum at the same time (well not quite), almost impossible without my edge somehow slipping away in a crucial situation during game play. As for the opening themes, yes, those are done, as soon as I upload both to my official YouTube channel, I will present them here, they'll (at first) make you feel like you're watching the evening network news only it's me at voiceover (I couldn't afford the $$$ to get NYC-based voice actor Jim Cutler to do it for me so I had to DIY it.) and not much animation except for slapping on the Atari logo (in red for the 2600 and blue for the 5200) and cutting different theme for each with a different spoken intro for each. They'll be up tomorrow but the first reviews will be up this weekend, after I've got that gaming touch again.

Well, after just getting done with the opening sequence for the title opening, just by merely slapping on a jpeg of the Atari logo (in a blue background for the 5200, I also did one for the 2600 Edition, but in red), and using 12-second snippets from two old opening title themes from "ABC News' World News Tonight with Peter Jennings" (one from 1998-2000, used for the 5200 Edition, the other from 2000-2012, used for the 2600 Edition). Both compositions were composed by Edd Kalehoff). I did the voiceover since I couldn't afford Jim Cutler to do it for me, and ran multiple takes on both trying to get the mix just right on each, and the end results are great, it's almost like you're watching the news, only, it's a video game review program instead. In my first episode and the series debut I will be playing and reviewing the wonderfully-translated 5200 adaptation of the good-old 2600 classic, "Yars' Revenge", called "Yar's Strike", in which adapted and recoded for the 5200 by @playsoft from the original 8-bit 4K minigame comp written originally by @Thelen from way back in 2009, for a contest which limited programmers to 4K at the most. I hope to give a good review of it as I am playing it, much like you see on the various other channels currently on YouTube. I hope to have it up here as my series debut episode by Wednesday night, I'm sure I'll be good enough for all of you, I'm sure most of you have viewed my video catalog on my BIGHMW TV YouTube channel (link in the signature) and know what I have done in the entertainment business for the past 25 years, so I hope you enjoy it. Thanks!!! Ray Jackson

Agreed, especially when you use the VCS adapter as it adds about 4-5 inches (and an extra 2-3 inches with a 2600 cart in it) to that overall height clearance you need to be able to use it.
-
Now that I got my Atarimax SD multicart back I'd love for him to fix my CX53 Trak-Ball, it doesn't work, there are multiple things wrong with it, and I would love to be able to play Missile Command, Centipede and Millipede the "proper" way again.
-
No need to suggest Yars' Revenge, as @playsoft has already fulfilled my 4-year-long wish for one a few weeks ago, with this gem of a version, originally made by @Thelenfor the Atari 8-bit computer lineup back in 2009 for a 4K minicomp-style contest entry, called Yar's Strike, I have included it here for all of you to play and/or check out: Now, for other games I'd like to see, here they a few: Phoenix Gravitar LadyBug Star Castle Any more ideas guys??? I'm gonna hit the sheets and I'll read your comments and/or suggestions when I wake up tomorrow morning. Good gaming and goodnight!!! Yar's Strike.bin

BEAUTIFUL!!! I would definitely want one of those for my 5200 rig myself, thanks for posting up yours, I am sure you would definitely get a bunch of orders for that same one if not for the twin-stick model for games like Space Dungeon and Robotron that would utilize it. How much would you take for one, my PayPal account awaits, I know I'll have to wait for my order but it should be well worth the wait considering the quality of the build of it, just looking from yours!!! ❤️

Champ Games - RobotWar: 2684 (aka Robotron:2084), 2600
BIGHMW replied to johnnywc's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Nobody let me know of either the WIP update as talked about by @ZeroPage Homebrew on the most recent live stream I missed the broadcast of as it aired during my work schedule (7:00 pm to 10:00 pm weeknights), and where I can find it or about why this great game won't work on my Flashback 9 HDMI, I'm still waiting to play it but can't because it won't work on the FB9 and I don't yet have the $$$ to reacquire the Harmony Encore so I can play both it and also the demo to Galagon, in which also will not work on the Flashback 9.
