BIGHMW replied to BIGHMW's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
That's just it, I DON'T WANT TO, that's why they're up here. I only threw up my hands and thought I had no other option. -
Well, it has become the 11th hour for me, I am flat broke with only 33 cents to my name and no gas and a lack of food in the house, so here it is: On sale here is my entire leftover stock of Atari 5200 cartridges, as you can see in the pics some are a little banged up but they all work, they just need a little cleaning. SOLD.

BIGHMW replied to splendidnut's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Well, I got to level 3 for the first time (I am using the difficulty switch set at B) and this game is slowly becoming one of my favorites, of my almost 650 games I have on my Harmony Encore Multicart, this is in the top 10, alongside Missile Command, Asteroids, Tempest, Pac-Man 4K, Centipede, and Yars' Revenge among them. -

I don't know about how to skate around that one. Beef Drop (or just about any other game for that matter) is always readily available on ROM file right here at AA, anybody can get one with a PM.

Unfortunately (for now) I am force to sell my Atarimax 5200 Ultimate SD Multicart out there. SOLD. No SD card though, as per AtariAge Marketplace rules, but there are plenty of links to get files for it. Maybe later on I will get myself another one but right now I DO need the money as I am in a bind. PayPal only please. Thanks! Ray Jackson

Yes, while both are readily available on both cartridge and on .bin file (and I have had both on cart and have played both and currently own both on .bin files on my Atarimax Multicart) I do find some significant differences between the two. Meteorites (Electra Concepts, 1985, very rare to find nowadays on cart) has much better controllability than does Asteroids (Atari, 1982, unreleased, although the original box concept for it was pictured on some 5200 gaming literature in 1982) in the fact that the hyperspace option on Meteorites is operated by the alternate (top, or, the right button on the CX24 7800 stick while using Redemption 5200) fire button as opposed to the old stick-downward function on Asteroids. Also Meteorites has some room for error when it comes to the infamous non-centering functioning of the 5200 controller itself, there is actually more "center" space on Meteorites (including the entire downward area of the stick) than there is on Asteroids, which makes Meteorites more controllable than on Asteroids, in which is almost impossible to manage, especially when it comes to being able to steady the ship while either rotating left or right, or thrusting up (or avoiding to). Graphics, while yes Meteorites wins hands down when it comes to the depictions of the actual space debris itself, it actually looks more cluttered on Asteroids in later levels as there seem to be more (and bigger) rocks up on the board, especially after they get blasted, it becomes almost an incredible mess to be able to escape from, with asteroids (both namesake and literally) coming at you from all sides, it makes the original 1979 arcade version look like a walk in the park compared to it (or its 400/800/XL/XE clone, in which it is ported from). Whichever one you play, you win, when it comes to playing this blast 'em up classic, although Meteorites wins hands down both graphically and also playability-wise. I myself like both, Asteroids for old-school sake, Meteorites, for its play and its looks.

I remember stopping by G.A.M.E.S. every month after school to stock up on 5200 gear in 1983 when I first got my first unit, they were located on Valjean Ave. in Van Nuys, CA, (I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, around Northridge and Sepulveda) a dream for any videogame enthusiast, coin ops, computers, and every home unit put out back then, I was a 5200 loyalist and since I owned a non-asterisk 4-port, the VCS adapter was no option for us, even though they did carry them. Most of my carts (pre-1984) came from G.A.M.E.S. before they went out of business.
