Not just the arcade...the whole MALL is gone.
kroogur replied to zerodin's topic in Arcade and Pinball
http://deadmalls.com/ Just click on Dead Mall Features on the left and then your state on the map to see what malls in your area died. It's kinda sad -

I set up a 2600 at work so Combat has been getting alot of play and Donkey Kong. My favorites? Usually it's Yar's Revenge,Haunted House and Adventure

**Update** I came across a 4 port 5200 at ye olde flea market today it came with all the hook ups and one controller, so i get it home and get it all cleaned up, hooked up and all i got was a second or two of buzzing from the switchbox and then nothing at all. No picture or sound, no clicking nothing. I checked the fuse in the power supply and all seems cool so is there anything to look for in the console or swithbox? and how would I go about opening the switchbox? I did a search but didn't quite get all the info i'm looking for thanks for any help! **okay i got into the switchbox and nothing appears fried in fact it looks pretty clean in there now when I hook it up do i have o connect anything to the antenna?

Not exactly a fair poll as Ol Kroo doesn't hate the 7800 nor does he hate you. Sometimes topics don't get responses it happens I myself have killed more than a few topics around here as well that happens too! Just relax an keep posting and don't sweat it too much if you don't get many replies.

It's a great system and well worth having in any Atari collection! the homebrews (from what i've seen) are amazing and the prototypes that have recently been discovered are incredible! Xevious is also a solid choice gamewise.

What was with the NES and old properties?
kroogur replied to godslabrat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I don't see a problem with any of those games, many children love dinosaurs and seeing the Godzilla movies where giant dinosaurs fight and smash things appeal to their imaginations no matter when they grew up 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's Godzilla is timeless and the same can be said for the Stooges kids love slapstick and the Stooges were still a big part of daytime TV back in the 80's. Why no Abbot and Costello? becuse it was a different formula the Stooges were pure goofy slapstick and all three were none to bright where-as Abbot and Costello followed more of a "Of Mice and Men" formula with a smart one/dumb one pattern and that is a tougher sell in a video game. Gilligans Island and Addams Family? the only reasons I can see for those is they too were still in heavy use as filler during daytime TV in the 80's the only game i'm aware of that tied in with the TV show was Festers Quest with the other game being a tie in with the Addams Family movie which made sense to try to cash in on the movie. -
So if i'm getting all this right if they(Atari) took a better look at the market and the competition then they should have did a redesign on the 7800 before re-release making the board and thus the console slightly bigger to accommodate a larger board with enough room for the 2600 stuff, better sound capability, and threw a few more bucks into cartridge design and programming they would have had a machine that would have trounced NES and SMS?

sorry...but what is the CC3? Cuttle Cart 3 for the Intellivision

The 7800 is a great choice for a few reasons, Utility- You can play both 2600 and 7800 games on it (with very few exceptions) which means you can also store away and protect that 2600 which is not getting any younger. Games- the 7800 library does have some titles that are great and some that are unique such as Food Fight,Midnight Mutants, Galaga,Ms.Pac Man etc....plus great homebrews! The 5200 can be a solid choice too! great games! cool homebrews, yes it has some downsides console is enormous, trackball controller is big ..real big odd hook ups and less than desirable controllers, but with that said the Gold controller repair kit from Best solves the controller issue and the sheer size of the system will eventually be overlooked as it truly is a great system! Intellivision this will collect dust. I have this system and quite a few games and when I can be bothered to hook it up it gets at best one evening of play. Don't get me wrong there are some really good games for it like the Advanced Dungeon and Dragon titles and other games like Beauty and the Beast or Space Battle and Utopia can be very interesting. My beef with this system would be the controllers first and foremost followed by the feeling that the console and its game have no "soul" I play the game and they are fun and pass the time but they seem "flat" where as with Atari the games can really pull you in and engage you. It's a great addition to my collection but sadly it does not get much use. 400/800 Ive always had fun with them as there is a great library of games and the computer aspect can be fun too I would probably lean more towards the 400 as I don't see them that often. C64 every bit as good as my Atari's, great library, neat peripherals, good support still out there for it! It too is an all around solid choice with no real flaws that can think of.
