Quick question where is the best place to get a replacement switch for my 2600? It's a light sixer and i broke off part of the switch when i was cleaning the unit. It's the Color/BW switch.

See thats in perspective for me for items that large i can understand paying more for shipping for such items, i'm trying to figure a way to target people charging $10-$12 to ship a single DVD -

All depends on how you go about it, how much you sell and how much you want do for yourself, i never have any trouble finding free boxes simply by either getting them from work, going around to other businesses and asking, same again on packing materials re-using popcorn, newspapers, bubble wrap etc. is a great way to save money and it costs most business money to throw that stuff away so they are usually happy to just give it away. I pack my own stuff so that saves money as well. Sounds like you are a high volume seller so i imagine you you would have more overhead that the "part time" seller. High volume sellers usually aren't dealing in exceptionally rare items so i tend to buy those items from places like Amazon who has very reasonable shipping rates. -

Ebay lowering insertion fees, and raising final value fees!

Myself like alot of folks turn to ebay when we want something very specific, things that are no longer available anywhere else so we have no other options if we want something otherwise unobtainable. sometimes you get a fair deal but often i have received small light items that i was charged $10 or more for shipping and when it arrives i have seen $1-$2 printed on the shipping label Even if it was a buck or two over actual shipping i wouldn't mind so much but good lord some of these sellers are brutal. I don't sell alot on ebay but when i do i charge exactly what it costs to ship it's the fair and customer friendly thing to do. Gouging is a very ugly business practice. -

Is there any law that says another company can't start up a fresh internet auction site? If ebay crashes or shapes up i could care less some healthy competition would be a good thing. Things i 'd like to see: A properly functioning feedback system for example if both parties are happy then cool good feedback ensues but if a neg is left there will be a dispute system for this and the auction site will decide if the neg is valid if not then it does not get filed thereby eliminating retaliatory negs. A built in shipping calculator for all major forms of shipping to cut down on shipping gouging and there will be no option to add "handling fees" all you get as a seller is the starting price, and the exact shipping, if it is discovered that the weight was incorrect ie: adding excessive packing to weigh down the package then the seller gets charged back for it. If you sell and your item doesn't go for mega bucks it's not your responsibility to gouge the buyerIt's the risk you take as a seller. I think a pay system like Paypal can work but there should be an equal amount of protection for the seller perhaps a free or lowcost track system to verify receipt of item thereby reducing buyers scamming sellers. Any other ideas? -
"Million of Atari games"???? geez Yahoo proofread much? or perhaps it was supposed to read "All your Million of Atari games are belong to us?" With that said i never had a problem with E.T. it was one of my favorites it was pretty dang good for it's time.

Keystone Kapers for the Colecovision
kroogur replied to jboypacman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Keystone Kapers is easily one of my favorite Activision titles and quite frankly a good all around game! I logged many hours on it. The Colecovision controller makes it a tad more difficult for me to play but it's still great! -
Okay the Atari actually arrived today, no negs were left for either of us, we finally got the communication going and he was good to his word he did throw in extra games (including a couple i didn't have) and the claim is resolved.
-
The seller finally contacted me directly and it's rather confusing: "so sorry during shiping one game got broke but i had already put in three extra i will send the names today or tomorrow but the lady said it sould be there monday or tuesday i sent it usps (priority mail & the confirmation # is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx think you for understanding and i hope you love your games call if any thing gose wrong and let me know when you recieave it thank you again...." So if i read that right he somehow shipped them but one game broke and he knew that somehow? (psychic maybe?)and was able to get the package back even though it had already shipped? (remember i never received this package) The lady at the post office said monday or tuesday from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania for priority mail? according to the track number it's still sitting in Milwaukee as i type this and he says call if anything goes wrong.....he never supplied a phone number I dunno should i still neg this person? something seems a bit off with them? or should i send a message explaining in detail without being mean or condescending why i am leaving them a negative?
-
True thats why i'm waiting until it arrives before i call off the Paypal claim.
-
*update* After escalating the Paypal dispute to a claim it still took a couple days before anything happened and i just received an email from Paypal stating the seller has informed them it has been shipped as of 1/26/2008 and he included a track number which did confirm it was sent this morning. I can't wait to see what condition this system will arrive in This seller has been unresponsive to e-mails and has lied to me, so to let you all know his ebay ID is: darwin8288 Up until now he has 100% positive feedback and doesn't seem to have had any issues up until now, for dragging this out to the point where i had to file a claim i will of course leave a negative feedback and i'm sure i'll get a retaliatory negative but i don't care, as some of you have pointed out the only way for the feedback system to properly work we have to leave those negatives.
-
Once i get things resolved one way or the other i will let you all know who it is so you can add him to your blocked ebay lists.
-
Thanks for the input i will start the claim on my lunch break!

I am having a great deal of difficulty finding an Atari 2600 at a reasonable price, back on Dec 20 i won one on ebay and never received it, the seller does not answer his emails reliably and when i did get in touch he said "they" forgot to ship it and he would personally send it out last monday and it would arrive by wed/thur (Wisconsin to Pennsylvania) it never showed so i waited till saturday and sent one last message...no reply so last night i opened my first paypal dispute. Question is how long should i wait if i get no reply from him till i escalate to a claim? And do i start one with Ebay too or is Paypal enough?

I took it to work and got them contacts shiny, i'll try it tonite. I had tried several different carts before and none worked. One trick i did discover today was to take an old gift card and i wet down the end with alcohol and ran it in an out of the contacts and i removed a fair amount of crud

Has anyone had a problem with the Game Genie for the SNES not working anymore? I dug mine out of the mothballs and cleaned it and it will not work the game will either not load or the screen comes up glitched or frozen. The code entry screen works fine and is crystal clear but when i hit start is when i have the problems. I bought another Genie and it behaves the same. Any ideas?

Haunted House on the Doom engine would be great but i was thinking more on keeping it an overhead view like the original and adding pop up scares while searching through the rooms of the house similar to The Haunting Starring Polterguy on the Genesis. Yars Revenge would be also somewhat FPS style with the camera just behind the Yar and you fly through space the neutral zone between you and the enemy would be a wall of multicolored stars just dense enough to barely see through the floating cursor would take many shots to destroy but once killed would not return till the next stage. Berzerk would be a combo cart with two exciting modes of play a FPS maze crawl with the ability to sneak around corners, and an overhead style that stars slow then gets insane fast as time goes on but you can get armor and weapon powerups to even the odds.

It goes back to the old sayings "One mans meat is anothers poison" or "Different strokes for different folks" With that said Kaboom never appealed to me i found it to be to nerve wracking. I never got into the side scrolling shooters either where as most folks love them, oddly enough i can sit and play games like River Raid or Xevious (not activision i know) for hours on end but i can't stand games like R-Type

Kaboom! I could never get into this game at all...i tried i really did.
