  1. Empire for the 2600 will always have a special place on my 2600 shelf, simple plot, fluid controls it's simply a joy to play and it conveys a sense of dread with the ever advancing AT-ATs.

I also enjoyed Dark Forces although it didn't truly feel like Star Wars but it was a great game.

And I thoroughly enjoy Lego Star Wars it's a great game and a great concept.

  2. And this is a stunning revelation how? We all know this, folks on other gaming forums know it, youtube is littered with videos about it, the internets is chock full of blogs and articles about it..... Why did it sell as good as it did? because it didn't cost 3 times too much like the PS3 and unlike the Wii you could actually find one on the shelf at any given store. People will go with whats convenient even if it's substandard.

  3. Hey, I was awesome at twitch games back in the day, man. I rolled Yar's Revenge like 7 times one night. My mom kept yelling at me to shut it off or it'd ruin the tv  , I got HUGE blisters both my thumbs, but man, was it ever fun.

I can still play twitch games, though. I can still to this day go for hours at Missile Command and Asteroids. But, a game with a definable ending MUST be finishable, period, and not so insanely difficult that no one has ever seen the ending.

And I've beaten some HARD ass games in my day. Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts legit finished (once, NOT going through it again, fuck THAT), got to the last boss of Ghosts 'N Goblins, beaten 3-D Worldrunner, etc. I've whipped Bison in the SNES SF2 Turbo with every character, max difficulty. I can finish the first Contra with only 1 continue (using the 30 man code, natch, but I never need to continue!). Went through Super C with NO code whatsoever. Like I said, my reflexes must be going to shit, as I can just barely get through older side-scrollers anymore. <sigh>

Don't sweat it man you're alright. I got the arthritis in both hands, carpal tunnel(both wrists) with nerve damage on my right wrist from a botched surgery, tendinitis, and when i'm at work i'm always dropping sockets or wrenches and 8 maybe 9 times out of ten I will catch it before it hits the ground, so the hand/eye co-ordination still works but like you I have no tolerance for crapola in my games and I think thats what the problem is. I noticed as I get older I have less patience for nonsense and in games where you have 10-15 enemies firing on you from every direction it is annoying or in fighting games where you have to press 5 buttons simultaneously while press up,down and sideways in a semi-circle just to get your fighter to do a move it's frustrating because they make it harder than it needs to be. There is a razor thin line between enjoyable game and frustrating nightmare.

I like Capcom too but I agree they have just been getting a bit ridiculous so I just move on to other games like Oblivion, or Bioshock etc...

  4. So if I read all that right the seller is saying that it's Pitfall 2? and that it was never released due to the video game crash?

And on a side note why do ebayers feel the need to scream in their auctions? It doesn't make me want to buy it just hurts my eyes and annoys me. :(

  5. I discovered a new indoor type flea market and aside from a small stack of common 2600 games I spotted a boxed 410 Tape drive. The person who rents the space was busy and I had to go but am thinking about going back to get it.

I have read the older threads about belt problems but aside from that are they reliable? Or should i pass on it? What would be a good price for one?

  6. Definitely looks cool, though. For $3 I would have grabbed it too. If nothing else, it would look cool on the shelf, and you could stand an action figure up to it as though it were playing the game.

    Chris

    You mean like this?

    :D

I have the Space Invaders flavored one somewhere I never knew there was a Pac Man version! Awesome!

Can I get a pic of it?

Sure i'll be back at the old house tomorrow and see if I can dig it up.

  7. Thats all I could really find as I'm from the USA so i'm not too familiar with what types of shops you have over there. You may try some shops that sell used/older games. Video rental shops may also be a source as they may no longer rent GB Games but they may be able to order the cases.

  8. First off welcome to the boards! :)

And when it comes to what you consider a deal if you are happy with it then you did good. Look at it this way you fixed the screen and it came with the battery cover (I have seen plenty that have missing or broken covers) So thats a good start right there. Did you pay to much? Probably...but it's a learning experience, you got some tips in this thread already and thats good and the other poster is right we have an awesome community here not only for Atari but many different systems and the marketplace forum is a great place to get a good deal.
