  1. It almost looks like they mastered the DVD off of a jittery VHS copy of the movie. I had the laserdisc version of the movie, and the quality was much better compared to this DVD. BP
  2. Anyone interested in the Crazy Climber reproduction and self-burned SoundX carts from my auction that got canceled by eBay? $20 plus shipping (which should be $5 to $6 at most) takes the carts, I'll also throw in a few other goodies I found, a Stella Gets a New Brain version 2.0 CD, Digital Press CD-ROM Volume 1 from 1997, and a Hozer Video Games CD from 2002. Please PM me if you are interested, Shawn and Eric get priority since they already posted to this thread. PayPal and U.S. only please. Thanks. BP
  3. Under 12 hours to go on most of the Atari auctions, and still some potential good bargains to be had... BP's eBay Emporium of Atari Items and Women's Clothing
  4. The original auction I listed that got cancelled had a Thrust Plus Driving Controller Edition CIB, Warring Worms, SCSIcide, SoundX, and the Crazy Climber repro. (Oh, and I can't forget the Hozer Video Official Thrifting Bag, perhaps that is why the original auctions was cancelled??? ) Here is a picture of the 5 carts from the original auction listing: Homebrew games picture SoundX is a utility written by Ed Federmeyer that uses the paddle controllers and outputs all of the possible sounds by modifying the parameters on the screen. I missed the original run of these carts (done by the aforementioned Hozer Video, I believe), so I just obtained the ROM and burned it myself. The updated auction will be up around 10pm Eastern time tonight. The picture used will be eerily similar to the one from above... BP
  5. The Thrust Plus, SCSIcide, and Warring Worms homebrew auction was taken down by eBay, I would guess because it contained a SoundX that I burned into a cartridge myself, or because of the Crazy Climber that was made for me by Randy Crihfield. I think it had several bids and watchers, sorry to those who watched/bid who are also members of this forum. I will relist the auction tonight without the 2 possibly offending cartridges. If a member of this forum wins the auction, please PM me through this forum and I will include those in with the 3 homebrew cartridges. BP
  6. Selling off the collection... Auctions Also, I have posted all of the pictures taken for the auctions, you can find them here: Lower resolution High resolution (could take a while, please be patient) If an AtariAge member wins the auction for my 3 games, send me a PM from your AtariAge account and I will include my last extra Kaboom practice cart. BP
  7. Are you aware that Brian Prescott of Crazy Valet and Vault Assault fame created a hack of Kaboom? It's a cartridge intended just for practice so you can play as long as you like without losing all your lives. He had some copies for sale at one of the recent Philly Classics - 2002, I think. Black print on a white label. Haven't seen one anywhere since. Anyway, I think Brian deserves a vote for the contribution of his homebrews, although I have never seen his collection. Thanks for the kind words, believe it or not it took me a heck of a long time to create the Kaboom practice cartridge hack. The original game code was only 2K, so I tried to expand it to 4K to add the code that I needed to keep the number of buckets fixed. Needless to say, that broke down quickly as nothing seemed to work any more in the game with the extra code added, so I had to steal some code from other routines. (I forget for sure where I found the bytes, I think one of the things I did was to remove the code that blanked out the leading zeros of the score.) My collection probably pales in comparison to most of the real collectors. Unfortunately it is going to get a lot smaller on orders from the boss. And I don't mean Bruce Springsteen... BP
  8. One of my all time arcade favorites is Time Pilot, and I gave up on the GBA version because the difficulty was too high, when they had to rewrite the enemy AI for the GBA, it is just a bit different. And I think the GBA version allows more enemies and/or missiles on the screen, although I could be wrong about that one. It has been a while since I played the GBA version, I think it came out in 2002 or 2003. BP
  9. Is anyone else out there digging the new Konami collection for DS? I think it is way better than the GB Advance version, I would guess that the hardware is fast enough to do actual emulation. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some classic arcade action. My only complaint is that it does not have Frogger like the GBA version. BP
  10. I saw in the latest Xbox Flash e-mail newsletter that the XNA Game Studio Express version 1.0 has been released. Has anyone tried it out on their 360? BP
  11. I might have sold 100 or so of each of my games before turning the production and fulfillment over to Albert (who does a much better job than I ever could, thanks Al). As Darrell put it quite well, adapting a game idea to the special nature of the 2600 and the TIA is where I had the most trouble. The assembly language part was pretty easy, as I had some background on the Apple II. I never had any visions of making any money on the endeavor, as I was lucky to break even on the travel, equipment, and materials expenses most of the time. For me, I had always wanted to create a game for the 2600 ever since that Christmas morning in the late 70s (my brother and I played Combat for like 12 hours straight that day), and even though my games might be a bit simplistic compared to some of the newer offerings, I am glad to have undertaken the challenge. BP
  12. One of the games on the Taito Nostalgia #1 unit looks like Gladiator, one of my all time favorite arcade games.
  13. Thanks to those who made offers, the burner is now headed to a new home. BP
  14. Well folks, the Boss (and I don't mean Bruce Springsteen) has ordered me to clean out the basement, so I thought I'd see if anyone was interested here before listing it on eBay. I have a Intronics Pocket Programmer EPROM burner and Datarase II UV EPROM eraser that I used several years ago when putting together my homebrew 2600 games. The burner cost $200 new and the eraser cost $40 new, and they are in excellent and 100% working condition, as I just burned and erased a few 2532 and 2732 EPROMs that I had left over from my games. If you are interested, please PM me with an offer. (Please note that I will not split up the pair, and if your offer is good enough, I might even throw in one of the cartridges I made using this burner.) Here are a couple of pictures of the items in question: http://www.wave39.com/eprom1.jpg http://www.wave39.com/eprom2.jpg And here is a link to a very similar EPROM burner made by the same company, if you wanted to see some general specs on the device: http://secure.transtronics.com/osc/product...products_id/304 Please note that the burner that I have is the original parallel port version, Intronics looks to have a newer USB version. So if you are interested, your computer needs to have a parallel printer port. Thanks. BP
  15. 70s: Video Olympics (graphically not the most interesting, but there were some manic 4 player contests in our house back in the day) 80s: Ice Hockey (or you could easily substitute any of a number of Activision titles, such as Pitfall or River Raid) 90s: Oystron (a super fun game to play) 00s: Thrust (a real challenging game)
  16. The top 5 games that I played back in the day would be: 1. Kaboom! 2. Ice Hockey 3. Turmoil 4. Defender II 5. Pitfall And if you are playing in an emulator on your PC, I highly recommend using a Stelladapter (with Kaboom! and the other paddle games especially), it works great. BP
  17. It's mega rare alright, I threw it together quick and only made like 10 carts of it (I hacked the ROM to prepare for a Kaboom tournament at one of the CGE video game shows in Vegas, I never could get enough practice time on level 7 and 8 playing the game regularly), and I gave several of them out mostly to friends and people who I have sold to and traded with. I guess I should have sold them on eBay instead. I have a couple left, if anyone wants to make an offer... BP Yep, Wonder fell for it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220003490492
  18. My brother and I were always playing Ice Hockey, Elevator Action, and Defender II. And my brother-in-law constantly played Kid Icarus (fear the eggplant!) and the Mega Man games.
  19. Thanks for the info. Although I had to go to 3 different stores to find one with the DS Lite in stock.
