the red book 'Introduction to Assembly Language for the TI Home Computer' was the book that taught me Assembler as a kid (most I have forgotten since). Even though there was some errors in the book it was a well laid out and easy to follow. (by the way, can you believe you can still buy that book new. they must made a crap load of them).

On my PC, I like using GraphiCV, a tool developed in Java by @unhuman. It lets you do not only sprites but layer up to four of them on top of each other. You can also do bitmap graphics.

So glad to hear someone is using it!

  3. Here's my bit.  I don't care.  Hopefully, Albert has the terms of what's he's been offered actually under contract.  Of course, who knows what will occur when Atari changes hands or it, itself, gets parted out.

I enjoy the forum.  I enjoy our community.  We're small enough and any relocation attempt will fragment us.  I'm not interested.  My contributions are here.

Now, for folks paying membership fees - that's on you.  I am not a paying member now.  I definitely wouldn't pay a corporate ownership that is inevitably going to exploit our participation for profit.  I don't see a problem with that, but I wouldn't pay more.  They'll get their money, or fail.

Anyhow, congratulations are due for Albert.  His hard work has paid off for him and allows him to continue his passion.  As long as he is content, since it seems his motivations were pretty golden here, I think we'll be fine.  When he departs, you'll know the ruse is up.

If you want to use Classic99, under 'GEMUS/Manage Emulators' just click 'Classic99' and move it to the top of the list then ok. It will be the default emulator.

Classic99 and MAME are already included in gamebase.

Thanks for trying.  Does not work.  Won't let me add an emulator.  I was able to see C64 and Spectrum from the GEMUS.dat I pulled off the website.

Maybe I reset everything up from scratch.

  5. Been trying to get this working for a bit.  I downloaded the "official?" version from sourceforge.  I dropped the folder into GameBase, and it was recognized.

The problem, however, was adding an emulator.  Under GEMUS / Manage Emulators, I add a new one, and it provides me with an option to pick Classic 99.  I name it, I add a link to the emulator, pick the script, and the OK button never activates.

I am a little surprised of the "ChatGPT is not cool" attitude. I see this as a new step in the computer evolution. A program that we make is a really stupid "A.I." to play a game. For me this is the natural evolution of computers, where we get it to, again do stuff that takes time to do. More can be automated. I think that this tool might be for the people that can imagine ways of making stuff in a new way. The danger I think is that this might make us even more engrossed in the virtual world.

One could argue that this makes us stupid, well... that is what the computer dos all over! I can use a computer to write a document and make it look nice! I could not do that by hand, unless I use a lot of time to be good at it.

So I am a little surprised that there is so little interest in ChatGPT. BUT... usually we are "scared" of the new stuff, so in that sense it is understandable.

In my mind, I need to restructure my mind so see how I can use this tool to become even better! It makes me tingling with, "Wow, what more can I do with this?"

This can't be stopped, the "plague" is out of the box. Now we need to grow to tame it! I am more scared of mindless use of this possibility! (T-1000 vs Humans - by Skynet)

Oh, that wasn't my approach at all.  ChatGPT was fun to play with.  My frustration was how it is not relevant for TI usage, yet.  Hopefully, they actually teach it so that it could be useful in this case.  It's been useful in other, real world cases, for me.
