My guess is Scott Foresman educational titles... Probably not very desirable.
I noticed a couple of interesting cartridges, but even with processing the graphic I was unable to discern which ones they were...

This might be a great source of cartridge shells for SOMEONE CLOSER than me, because shipping alone comes to $93.70!

How many diffs from baseline? I didn't really know what I was doing when I was porting to the Wii... I just made it crash.

Nano PEB takes a range of voltages... I run mine with a 9V power supply. I use it infrequently, but I rely on it when I do... Kinda scared about it giving up now.

I've been buying soldering kits on ebay for work with my daughter (12, my 14 year old has different interests). It started with a clearance soldering kit (organ) from Radio Shack. After that, we built an alarm clock (ebay, $2.50) and we have an AM/FM radio $9 waiting to be built.
Since I like to solder, but don't know beans about electronics, this has been a fun introduction for both of us.
Just found out the local radio shack is closing (9 days left) and they have some stuff. The other 2 close by are gone.

I was reading up on how Radio Shack is going under and I got to thinking back to my middle school years when I frequented Radio Shack and the Hobby Shop next door.
Magical times...
Anyway, I am really wanting to teach my son the basics of electronics and how circuits work, etc. If he enjoys it, we may continue down that path and he and I can learn alot together.
He is young, so I want to start off with something extremely simple.
You guys have any ideas for us? We probably aren't microcontroller-ready yet, but maybe some neat switch lighting with LEDs or something?
Any thoughts are welcome. It has been probably 15 years since I played around with a breadboard and I remember how cool it was to have some success.

-
Are you gonna buy it? I'll defer to you, otherwise I might get 'em.
-
Yeah - that'd be ideal (for me, not that I'm coding anything lately) because it would drastically increase the development cycle in emulation... The entire flow could be scripted (and fast):
Write code in TIdBiT, push output to compiler, then run from emulator.
But, I suspect that it's just not in the cards.
You know I really am amazed that NO ONE has written an JAVA script program to compile TI programs yet. All you would have to do is upload the Extended BASIC program and seconds later download the compiled version. I think it would encourage more lower level programmers and introduce them to another lever of programming... and the community might have more goodies as a result. -
You could easily wrap this in another loop and run X iterations to ensure you get a distribution you like.

-
Uhoh - time to buy another cartridge?

So, I would like to present a different way of calculating defense.
Rather than absolute, think of defenses in terms of effectiveness.
So, an effective defense could block 75% of damage, so it'd be equitable regardless of attack type, and every attack would generate some damage (although potentially tiny), which is a more realistic approach.
An attack with a feather would have a very low attack score, and a defense of paper mache shield would have a very low effectiveness.
An attack with a missile would have a higher score and armor plate would have a higher effectiveness.

The skyline looks like Activision to me!

Maybe if you install 3 of them you can have them vote to ensure you're getting the right data.

If you're going to do that... Why not get a cheap but effective MP3 player and use that instead of a cassette player? It'd be tiny, easier (maybe?) to find stuff and more reliable.
Or, use a CF7+
My TI doesn't live with my TV, but it's pretty easy to get it out and connect to the dangling audio video cables I have in the cabinet. When my daughter and I code, that's how we do it. -
So... My dream cartridge would be one that took an SD card and you could load it up with whatever you wanted and the cartridge had a menu to pick & load.
Of course, I'm not an engineer but I can say it sounds hard.

Oh - you may want to try knocking out the top left pixel in my tree since it sometimes collides with the normal grassy areas. Makes it look a bit heavy. Or, whack the bottom right pixel in your grass.

-
Fun stuff. Never fancied myself an artist, but there you go. And, of course, I used GraphiCV or GraphicCV to make it.
The pixel definitely helps the tree #1 in your environment. My #2 (haha) and #3 are shrubberies.

Rubber duck = you have a rubber duck (or inanimate object) on your desk and you ask it questions. Just saying it makes you think slightly different and you answer your question that you just asked... W/o asking anyone.

Owen,
You need a Rubber Duck!

Would be nice to have the source on GitHub, for sharing. I've done the same for my Sprite Editor, although nobody has contributed yet.

Also, please add "Tidbit" to the subject if you can edit that

-
Can we get TidBit linked here?
Just noticed Owen requested it a while ago:

Hey Filip--- I'd like to suggest adding TIdBiT to our resources thread. There is a thread about it entitled "BASIC/XB Translator". I made a small video about it's use and posted it to that thread.... It is a very nice program and makes BASIC/XB development more fun. For me anyway.

Ummm... 16. Sorta-kinda.
Further evidence that this is the best 8-bit community in the world.

I'm going to destroy my console by trying to solder in the speech synthesizer and a CF7+. One day!

Use regular expressions for search and replace.
It can be a bit tricky to learn, since pattern matching is far more complicated / capable than using * and ?, but you can do replacements in an automated fashion.
On Windows, get this tool: http://rad-software-regular-expression-designer.software.informer.com/1.4/
