Presenting RBERT - a game I did 30 years ago

So - to make garbled speech, you can use CALL SPGET to get hunks of speech. I played with it eons ago - that might allow you to make weirdo sounds. -

Loading this up now! Looks beautiful in your image. Only thing that may go a long way is compiling this... Edit: I just played... I really like the idea of filling the boxes with a square. That keeps things simple. I'd probably make the ball a little smaller. And Coily appeared out of nowhere - in the arcade he's a ball until it hits the bottom. Very impressive - it's definitely Q*Bert! Q*Bert was my favorite. I even owned a machine briefly. -

I've used it a bit here and there, but I've unfortunately been inactive for > 1 year now (other than lurking). I can't stay up late anymore. If you need help adding stuff to the tool, I can probably help somewhat. I haven't touched that code in a while and I remember adding the layers or something made the code a bit rough... Layers were needed to make my Avatar (and the game that hasn't come to completion). -

The latest source is in the first post - anything is possible. If people actually want to work with this, I could create a github project. -H -

Welcome... We cut and paste text here a bit.... Most of us work in emulators which allow Cut & Paste and DSK files. -

I also play hockey and this image has been passed around - perhaps we need a variant for our goobing: http://cdn.ebaumsworld.com/mediaFiles/picture/2159727/82381374.jpg -
I've searched in vain, it's like chasing windmills.

International User's Group. I remember that thing. They had a deal where they'd give you credit for every program you sent them. Well, being a kid, I sent them a ton of stuff, amassing about $150 credit. I got the credit. I placed an order. I didn't get it. Months and months. Calls and letters unanswered. So, then I devised a plan. I created a game. A non-existent game. I wrote a manual for this game, so spectacular. It was a graphical adventure like Pirate's Island. But it was on disk, extensible, etc. I called them. I talked about my game and wanting a place to publish it. They wanted it. Badly. They asked for details. I said I was working on the manual. I sent it to them. My stuff arrived. Then they started calling me; I didn't return their calls. -
I've got a 4:3 19" Dell LCD monitor - black + silver given to me by my former employer (Mythic, RIP) that might look nice on someone's TI....

The screens are probably algorithmically generated - just like Pitfall was.

Welcome! I'm sure someone would be glad to help you out Hopefully you'll see what goes on here, too!

No. Probably "uncommon". It's not PacMan or Combat, but it's also not Chase the Chuckwagon.

I did exactly this for a USB joystick. It was fun. I have a ton of spare parts (I had a much larger setup / delusions of grandeur) if you wanted some - pretty much pay postage and I'll send... Gotta look what I have though.

I've been away... Any interest in programming I was unable to spark in my daughter. She's got a TI-84 calculator and started programming it. She's already annoyed at how limiting it is... So, I told her about my TI computer in the basement and she was excited about learning. Hopefully that'll engage me here a bit more as well. And, maybe spark some ideas. -H

What we really need is the CF7+ inside of the synthesizer. That'd be the bomb. Especially the flippy access to the memory card...

This needs tacking on the Development Resources thread!

Feature request: ability to save (and restore) state. This way I could save my place in games that don't feature save/restore. Thanks!

No objections - and mine's not a submission at all. That's not "new" but I was sort of proud of it at the time.

Windows 7 asks me to format every time, but it's not a requirement to accept. Works fine with the tools.

1. Yes 2. Centos 6.2 (at work). I've also got a personal (unconfigured) VM running 6.2 as well (probably a mistake). 3. No.
