  1. I've got a 21 year old HP LaserJet 4L that I use through a USB -> Parallel converter. I'm only on my 3rd toner (refills). I've also torn through several "disposable" inkjet printers. The current one is an HP 8500. It's much faster than the Laser and it's obviously color. But, for big / long print jobs the 4L is the best.
  2. Noticed Road Hunter made this list: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/220326-what-have-you-actually-played-tracker-for-2014-season-7/page-7?do=findComment&comment=2940851
  3. In fact... My program, Artist Enlarger, could've been far simplified if I knew this at the time. I actually had to write code to convert everything... Big complicated mess - slow too. But, it worked!
  4. I never could do it as a kid - I never drew the connection between bits and the character representation - IIRC it wasn't mentioned in the manual... So, I remembered F and the single bits, but never of any of the stuff in between. Now, of course, sure, I can do it in my head. -H
  5. They make conductive paint for this exact purpose. I bought some from Harbor Freight (I think) in anticipation of need. It worked by scaring away the problem. Never used it.
  6. I got suspended from computer camp for just that. I made the computer say: "Greetings Professor Falken, F You."
  7. just poking my head in here, but anyone using scsi - wonder if you could use a zip drive with it... That'd probably be a cheaper and less failure prone route than an old scsi hard drive with unknown usage time.
  8. I remember being able to make a somewhat decent engine sound by mixing all 3 sound channels with a noise channel. That seemed to allow one to generate lower sounding sounds...
  9. Oh - and here's your zip file: RCGL.zip
  10. I was thinking you may need more characters to let the robot cars know what the desired direction is... Otherwise they'll wind up spinning and going all kinds of crazy directions - which could make for a different kind of fun race!
  11. You should check out my XB game that I wrote as a kid - Dragon Storm. It's my version of Dragonfire based on the fact that I had never played Dragonfire at the time, but the commercials looked cool.
  12. My dark favorites from when I was a kid - not sure I've replayed any of them. Barrage was pretty amazing like Missile Command. The Tennis game was good (TI Tennis?) - there was a cartridge published of it. Arctarus (sic) was the closest thing we had to Zaxxon. Micro Pinball? Major Tom, hard as hell, very good. TI-Runner - like Lode Runner
  13. Thanks for the explanation. I did miss the flipping of the >= to < Good to have that clarity now because it does indeed sound like it's a little bit different than the way XB handles IF THEN. Cool. Me likes.
  14. Harry - The IF THEN flow is a little bit confusing, but certainly seems to be an opportunity for a learning moment: 510 IF DEC<T(15)THEN 520::BN15$="1" :: DEC=DEC-T(15) Does the above line do DN15="1" and then DEC=DEC-T(15) and then fall through to line 520? If the line was changed to: 510 IF DEC<T(15)THEN 540::BN15$="1" :: DEC=DEC-T(15) Would this skip lines 520 and 530 but still process the DN15="1" and DEC=DEC-T(15) ? Thanks - Howie
  15. I remember asking Senior Falcon for timing functionality in the compiler, to make regulating game speed easier to plan and build.
  16. This is really nice. The power slide is really good.
  17. I'll reach out to Ken Gilliland to see if he has a copy of it. He was the one who informed me that Ray had passed. http://shawweb.myzen.co.uk/stephen/timram22.htm says: Your scribe took along a parcel of disk and tape goodies and brought them home. One visitor refused the extremely cheap (free) disk copy of Ray Kazmer's revised Woodstock's Christmas program as he already had the first version (1987) - in which Woodstock is left crying. In the revised version (1988)- too big for cassette alas - Woodstock receives a surprise gift.
  18. There was Woodstock's Christmas by Ray Kazmer, who was a TI Buddy of mine back in the day. Anyhow, I certainly don't have it anymore, but the story he told was that he got permission from Charles Schultz to do it. He was only permitted to use Woodstock.
  19. Yeah, I was hoping to see XB256 in the compiler as well. In regular XB, it has pretty limited use, since the quality of games just isn't there. Last I heard, Owen was using it or at least espousing XB256 in the compiler and I thought it was almost ready. And then, he disappeared. In any event, it's something I'd love in theory. Finding time to do TI Dev, however, hasn't been at the top of my list of late (year plus).
  20. with an (internal) flex cable modification, that would be a nice housing for a nano-PEB.
