  1. I had a copy of Turbo Pasc at some point. The only thing I could get it to do was lock up my machine.
  2. You're not supposed to tell me that until AFTER I'm hooked (and figured that out myself). BTW - it might depend on what you mean by modern C... To me, C is K&R. -H
  3. I'm okay with including more games that meet the criteria, but I don't own the project. It would be nice, however, to delineate them as not being official entries.
  4. Depends on cost... I'm intrigued by the book possibility. I always felt ripped off by Compute! books. The game on the cover looked awesome and played horribly. But it would be fun to be a "published" author.
  5. BTW - haven't approached 'em yet, but I was thinking about writing an article for retrogaming times monthly (www.retrogamingtimes.com) about my experience... Anyone interested in participating?
  6. You all want real names? So-be-it. Howard Uman. I'm already in the Timeline for my "battles" with Asgard. Now, perhaps I'd wind up with 2. Ahh - here it is: http://www.ti99ers.o...ne/time1991.htm It doesn't really talk about the issue, alas, I never got a dime out of Asgard. -H
  7. Kurt - if you wanted the make your own cartridge thingie (and don't have any already) you could have it... I have 3 already, so I'm willing to share.
  8. Oh my... That might be interesting... it just might.... Now just gotta find out how to use it... after I finish my other game... -H
  9. HFS! U made me LOL. Daaaaamn! Thanks - H
  10. I'm actually quite fond of my current development environment - editing in a real editor and pasting into the TI (Classic99). I had forgotten how god awful line editing was... How much easier it is to develop when you can actually see a fairly large amount of code.... I don't think I would've had the success with Inaccurate Invaders on the console. Seeing all 29 lines of code without line wrap versus 4 or 5 wrapped up to horror is just such a better situation. If c99 requires 32K expansion, I don't think that's ideal, but I'll figure it all out. Thanks guys!
  11. *A 64k Jon Guidry cartridge board and game case (for making homebrew carts) This look awesome, and I "only" ordered 3, so I'll take 1 more -Howie
  12. Inaccurate Invaders By: unHUman They're back. Everyone is tired and not really up to the fight. Alas, the continued existence of civilization is on the line, so you've gotta work with the remaining supplies from the old war. Fortunately, the Invaders are also tired and with limited resources. What they have: Seemingly endless hordes of suicidal robots but no missiles. What you have: A single missile base that has repaired with the power steering system extracted from a 1972 Cadillac Fleetwood. It's soft, mushy, and not responsive at all. We also have a huge stockpile of missiles. They're old, so sometimes they don't detonate. All of this leaves you sorta well prepared for the not-so-exciting battle to the death. If the Invaders reach earth, all hope is lost and the destruction of humanity will ensue. Should you destroy all the aliens, peace and tranquility are yours. Seriously, if you make it that far, you deserve what you get. Controls: Joystick Left - Move your base left Joystick Right - Move your base right Fire Button - Fire a missile. If a missile is already in flight, it is aborted and replace with another one. Godspeed.
  13. Yeah - well - I don't think I'm too interested in learning assembly on the TMS9900... I think that the effort -> reward would be way too small. c99 would likely be my best bet, but the Forth stuff is fine too. But, I do need to finish my new game first anyway... Just trying to have the info I'd need all lined up.
  14. Ok - until I get Forth and decide that's the way I'm gonna go, I want to move beyond XB. So, the choice seems to be c99, but I can't find any details on it... Anyone have good links / tutorials / etc? Thanks - Howie
  15. Mine arrived today! Came complete with extra TI Invaders cartridge cases, too. Off to buy some ZIF sockets!
  16. Now that you're offering that - a TI-style manual would rock. You kick ass.
  17. Thank you, thank you all for your help and support. Without you all I couldn't be here today reliving my youth and pissing off my wife (she barely tolerates my pile-o-crap in the basement). But, alas, I must thank her as well. She actually congratulated me this morning. This truly was a blast for me. Thanks! -Howie BTW - guess I need to write a manual.
  18. Yeah gave it a good read last night. Think I made it through 3 or 4 chapters. I'm hoping that we don't have to deal with the file system limitations described in the book. Icky! -H
  19. Very nice... I'd love it if you updated my screen shot to be "accurate" There's one here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/159498-ssgc-submission-inaccurate-invaders-now-with-less-inaccuracy It's nice to see the entries all stacked up like that. Do not envy your job at all. Thanks - Howie
  20. Got my book. It looks to be written C-Bible style, which is a complement. Hopefully I'll get to the actual reading soon. -H
  21. Piling on. If you don't want the effort to deal with the stuff - just throw it in my box for the wico adapter and I'll be happy to deal with them for you In any event, the guy making 'em says there's limited parts for some of the connectors we use, so throwing these out is probably not a great idea for the community at large... Thanks, though, you're doing a great service! -Howie
  22. Wow. Great deal.... I suggest 2 good folks split 'em...
  23. Yeah, might be "normal" but it still sucks. I now remember how many lockups I had as a kid which I could only attribute to heat. I kept multiple cassettes of everything I was working on in case of a mid-save freeze. It was not infrequent.
  24. Any chance we can glean some insight into the top 5? Looks like Dark Maze is one of em... To quote Weird Al... "I wanna know!!! I wanna know!!" Suprisingly, my wife does too. She keeps asking. -Howie
