    LOL. Well, I thought about just putting it back up with the Lynx II I have. I like them both but just need one. Just giving po folks a price break man. :D

     

    BTW: Goes back to $100 after 9 PM tomorrow. If it doesn't within a couple weeks it's being put back up in da shelf. That's when I'll probably get PM's about it. ;)

    The sixer is my choice to play with. Call it nostalgia i guess. I think Atari made it tougher when they went with the 2600 Jr. model. It's smaller and saves spaces but when it comes to fixing one you gotta hope it's not the flex circuit gone bad with it. Ultimately, 4 switch was a good idea because of it's "scaled down" internals and having less of the traditional aluminum switches. I'll be honest, I use six switchers for parts to fix the 4 switch models I get. I hate ruining an early icon but I make up for it by making at least one out of four of the consoles I work on is a six switch brought back to life. So at least some good comes out of it. :)

    I got a 5200 on eBay a couple weeks ago, and of course, the controller didn't work. I'm kinda strapped for cash right now, so I'm wondering, are the Rev. 9 Flex Circuits a decent alternative to the gold plated ones from Best Electronics?

     

     

    sure if the flex circuit is the problem but often it is ok its just the carbon contacts that are bad

     

    se if you can find some foil tape and cut little squares to stick over the carbon dots(cut large so they wil stick to the dot and the rubber

     

    the gold contact flex circuit is worthless if the old buttons are not the gold plated ones

    I'm pretty sure it's the flex circuit. I've tried the foil under the buttons trick, and it didn't work. I can even pin-point the problem (there's a hairline bend, almost a break, in part of the circuit). I just decided to buy a new flex circuit, hopefully it'll work ok. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

     

    One little step was missed. Before anything. Take a clean pencil eraser and lightly erase directly on the flex circuit contact points. If it is a white or blue flex circuit, then forget it. Those are useless once they stop working. Pencil & eraser. It has worked for me everytime on the green flex circuits. Oh, also use the eraser on the button contacts. After each circuit you clean, rub the eraser on your pants to clean it off for the next one you clean. That way you are not defeating the purpose by spreading the carbon around. ;)

    That's kind of an odd picture on the box; it clearly has 4 switches, but the base looks like that of a heavy sixer. (very thic, rounded, and less diagonal slab sides) Hmm...

     

    That's just the light reflecting against your pupils, giving you an optical illusion. :D It's definitely not rounded.

    I don't think I could resist either. Here's an idea. Have someone wrap it up for you and give it back to you for Christmas. That way it would be the one day of the year that you are obligated to open it up. I have a bad habit of opening NOS items. It's one of those tug of war type of battles your impulses will go the way you want. If you do open it up, You Tube the video so everyone can cringe and yell at the monitor while you are doing it. :D

    Just wanted to give a shout out for Rob Webb who runs and owns http://www.consolegoods.co.uk/

    He has a whole bunch of Classic systems stuff at very very reasonable prices. Yes, he is in the U.K. but with the prices added with the shipping it's still a good deal on almost everything he has on his site. He answers his email very quickly and is very professional and gret to deal with. I hope some of you here have dealt with him, then you would know exactly what I am saying. Check it out. It's a diamond in the rough. ;)

    Believe me. Steve takes all the steps necessary in these situations. His work is top notch like only a couple others around. I am just glad there are still guys like this who give life to an otherewise dead system to most collectors. The multicart is awesome and I personnaly suggest everyone get one and load the roms they want. Maybe you could work something out with Steve if you take in some of his nice work on his site. ;)

    Well, there is one thing you could try before everything else. If you have a DVD player cleaning disc, pop that puupy in and try to clean the lens. If that doesn't work then it would probably be cheaper to invest in another working Saturn. I don't see very many, if at all, auctions for working Laser Lens' for these little beauties. Last one I saw, they wanted $30 just for that part. :)
