I aplogize for referring to you as HE instead of SHE. Last time I had my systems in the basement it basically corroded the board. I really didn't work on it. I just went ahead and got myself another one for about $20 bucks. I wish I could help further but at this point I really don't have an answer that would be of any help. Sorry

For Sale. Lots of rare Atari 2600 Carts. One is C.I.B.

I will. No prob. -
When you wrote "vertical bands of color", did you mean those bands appear on top of the game screen, or instead of it? I have had this problem. He mentioned the Atari logo comes up first then the vertical lines up and down the entire screen. It can be the slot but I have seen carts that get "bit rot" that keeps them from playing. I was hoping he would try more than one or two carts. It also can depend where his system and games are located and the room temperature and dampness of the air. If it's in a a basement then dampness after a period of time can affect the carts and/or system. I'm not an expert but have had many experiences and problems I've had to solve myself. Most of the time for me. It's been the cart. Again, I hope you get up and running again.

I think from personal experience having a 7800 is a must. I love the 2600 but love 7800 games too. Gives you the best of both worlds. As for the picture.........Not that I have noticed. It depends on your switch. Everyone should have a modded cable though. Much better picture. If not there is a cable ready switch and plug thats worth the $1.99 you spend on eBay for it.

Get a 7800 instead. If you find Bounty Bob for the 5200 though I'll give you 20 bucks for it. Honestly I like my 7800 to play the games. Channel 3 HA ha. Anyways it would be a system to set to the side and give to the kids later after you're gone. The 7800 is so much better and looks better.

Unreleased Atari 2600 revenge of the jedi box + sealed games
ninermaniac replied to Buyatari's topic in Auction Central
Star Wars is a big thing even with kids nowadays. I just wonder why Trekkies didn't make more rare stuff. Ya know what I mean. I'm not sayin you won't get what you want. I just think the market is a little ....volatile....right now. Good luck though. -
Longhorn are you making it a handheld version or what. If you make a few of these you'll sell em' I guarantee. Let us know. I wish I had the time on my hands.

Items are being parted out now. Looky looky!! -
Also some carts, if you're just trying one or two carts, can get what has been referred to as bit rot. Try a series of carts. Moisture on the carts contacts are the same as the console. Other than that I'm sure it has to be your cart. It shouldn't show the Atari logo at all if the console is not working correctly. Sounds like a cart prob to me. Just check Try channel 3 on the switch. See if that helps. I hope you get back to playin soon!

I do not recommend munching on clocks. That's a good way to break your teeth. I know, I know. I got them backwards. Just didn't want to waste a perfectly good EDIT!

I think this is dragging out a little too much also. It stays exciting only when someone who asks the initial question is more than willing to help by letting the vets here at least get a real life taste of the goods. Put an insurance policy on it. Send it to Al, Rom, or cpuwiz or just meet someone at a place where it can be verified in person and dump the program. Honestly, if I had a gem like this I would hold on to it but share it with the rest of the world who loves this part of gratification in their life. Which is enjoying and knowing Atari. I would absolutely love to have this opportunity. If it were mine to impose. It's a find of an Atari masters imagination. Please don't play with it. Be kind.

Music Machine you sold for $329 right? On eBay?
-
I don't understand your reasoning for doing this. I would hold on to it because I have a near-complete collection of NTSC carts. But if I didn't have the type of collection that I had, I would sell it in a second to someone who did. Honestly, he's found a diamond mine over top a gold mine and is biting his time until he sees what he wants. 1943 copper penny.........$1.1 million. Same concept.

I think we were all expecting this.

No more damage than the normal wear done by inserting carts over the years. This is something that is done once or twice in the life of a console, depending on where its been.Im not worried since my 30+ year old consoles have no gold plating left on any of the contacts, anyway.Probably not something you'd want to do to a NEW CONSOLE,cus a new console simply doesnt need agressive cleaning like that. This method takes oxidation off worn contacts BEAUTIFULLY though!Sometimes just spraying alcohol is not enough, ive fixed quite a few consoles doing this. And if one is worried about the contacts, use something less abrasive,or dont do at all,all for ones choice.More of a last resort if air or alcohol doesnt work,in which i failed to post in the original post, sorry Lol....I can't quit laughing. The dunce emoticon did it for me. Personally I use an emory board stick and an old t-shirt and alcohol. On the edge of the shirt put a little alcohol on it, place it over the slot then press the edge of the shirt through the slot with the stick. Not letting the stick be openly exposed to the contacts. Has always worked for me. <Ilovethisone. No offense to you.

So in this game, you don't get to keep your score, but you do get to restart the last section that you reached. I wonder how many Atari 2600 games had multiple sections where you'd be able to continue? For other games, it wouldn't be that hard to let you keep your score, so I wonder if any did? As long as you keep getting E.T. back to his ship, your score continues from game to game. That's not exactly the same thing, but it's a version of continuing. I love it. Another E.T. plug. I think I'll just get a closet full and hand out this X-mas.

From what I can remember even the manufacturer recommended that you use channel 3. Channel 2 I think was for TV's that weren't a newer model. Had something to do with the switch. I could be wrong but I'll recheck the manual.

Wii craziness on Ebay has started again...
ninermaniac replied to Gregory DG's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I can say I do not like scalping BUT I see no wrong in making a profit. When the Xbox 360 first came out my wife bought me one for $500 for the ultimate system package. Before I knew it people were paying $1500-$2000 for them. Yes, I sold mine and got $1300 for it at a private sale. I then went to EB Games the next day and put one on order for $500. I waited about 4 weeks and got another and kept it loved it and spent the other $800 on everything else. I couldn't help myself. Does that make me a scalper? -
It's the nostalgia for me. I put away the Xbox after beating Halo 3. Which that was the last game I had played on it for about two months. I always breakout the old light sixer and pop in Pengo! I can't get enough!
