Standing still. Very easy to reproduce.

NEW Season of the Atari 2600 High Score Club starts March 1st!
godzillajoe replied to Vocelli's topic in Atari 2600
Awesome. I haven't done it in a while. Gotta find the charger for my old digital camera -
If two barrels overlap close together and you have the hammer, the first will be crushed but the second will kill you.
-
Awww... now I feel bad. I gave Mario a heart attack!
-
This may have been addressed but is there a reason you can't climb up the half ladders on the barrel screen? Sometimes that comes in handy when an impossible barrel jump situation occurs Also, here's a weird one. Start the game and just hold down the button so you're jumping in place. After the fifth jump, you die. This happens anywhere in the game though, just jump around constantly and you die.
-
Still think it's too hard. But it sure is fun. I finally made it through all four screens. I hope you take the time to polish the rough edges, it's pretty impressive already but could be amazing with a few tweaks if possible. Today I was killed by a barrel while holding the hammer. I don't think that should be possible while standing still. And maybe those triplet cement pies could be spaced out a bit more. Just my opinion because it really is unforgiving for "Level 1"

Found another one. On the elevator level, I somehow missed landing on a platform and fell down to the bottom of the screen where I stayed with the platforms passing through me until I tried to move left or right causing me to die
-
Didn't someone make a Yars sequel for PC years ago? Or did I imagine that?
-
Yeah the hammer on the upper level will mess you up and Philadelphia Experiment you into the girder that you have to "climb" out of if you don't fall to your death just trying to get it. You should be able to get it by standing under it or it should bounce you back onto the platform like the arcade There are some sprite collision issues when you have the hammer, I've had barrels pass right through me. Too much flicker? Also, it's F%$#@! relentless. Way too hard for a first screen. Then the "pie" screen. Good god, 100 MPH The change direction in mid-jump though not arcade accurate is pretty much necessary to have any chance at all You can fall off the top left girder on the elevator screen. And the elevators are too fast.

Make that bird the Joust guy and lose the Homer Simpson speech. Like the parallax though. But if you made it lava and platforms...... Jousty Bird!

If you believe Wikipedia In a move to compete directly with the Channel F, Atari Inc. named the machine the Video Computer System (or VCS for short), as the Channel F was at that point known as the VES, for Video Entertainment System.

It's a simple concept, is there an "original" version that he ripped off? I'm serious, I still have a "flip" phone so I'm out of touch.
-
After seeing the "real" one in action, this version is not so bad. That one seems quite evil as well. That dude was making 50K a DAY in advertising revenue and pulled it from online shops because it was ruining his life?!
-
It is strangely addictive. But I am self-destructive. Maybe it's because my highest score is "3" Someone make it the next HSC game! Is that still a thing?
-
Well if there's one thing around here that is inspiring it's the number of maniacs who love this little old system and will help out. Unlike places like Stack Overflow where they just try to make you feel stupid. Maybe in the summer. I've only been at this gig for 3 months so I have to crank now that the learning curve is over But I tend to come alive when the weather warms up Well, I think we've hijacked this thread enough. Gotta pack up and wait for another storm Endless Snow indeed
-
Eh. I stopped caring. Let people do what they want. They're not getting *my* money. I need to get back into 6502 and the "game" I was working on. That was about two years ago so it would essentially be starting at square one which depresses me I kinda wanna learn bB just for fun anyway and see if *I* can make a cool game using it since I have been pretty harsh in the past. Kind of a "put up or shut up" challenge But after coding C# at work all day, no motivation.
-
No, that was my point. I still think it makes it too easy for someone to poop out a "game" but I don't blame the tools. Just the "tools"
-
And this is why I've bashed bB in the past but I guess I've come to realize that shitty games shouldn't be blamed on the tools but lazy programmers who think that making one block shoot at another block is a "game" Seriously there must be 50 of them by now Changing the colors and sprites of a "my first program" sample is not a game And it AMAZES me when people drop $40 for the "boxed edition" Compare that to something like Endless Snow that had some thought behind it. I broke my no more paying for bB rule for that one. And maybe I'm missing out here. Could make a few bucks on the side.

I think that bird is a turkey made of lead. Also, she's "freeky" hot.
-
Giving my system to my younger cousin when I got a C= 64. He ditched it when they got a NES. I don't think I had anything super rare but years later I had to buy everything back

Excluding Pac-Man and ET, which is the worst game?
godzillajoe replied to HP Atari King of Michigan's topic in Atari 2600
I never got into Double Dunk or Realsports Boxing. Is it me or are they terrible? Myabe I'm terrible at them. I'd rather play the original Basketball or Activision's Boxing. And Double Dunk wasn't really anything like One On One, if you mean Dr. J vs. Larry Bird which did get an Atari release on the 7800. -

Yeah I guess we can at least agree on the "timer" aspect. This is why I always didn't have the love for Pitfall! that most do. Am I a jungle explorer or running a race? -

How is Mountain King a bad game? Just because you suck at it or don't "get it" doesn't make it a bad game. Otherwise Stampede! and Jr. Pac-Man are the worst games ever made.
