  1. Wee need Zork ported to the 2600. Hey we got Boulder Dash. Anything is possible!
  2. Right, I'm a programmer/hacker by trade so I get that part. You just outgunned me on the reply. I remembered it as "shorting out" meant you die but it just rolls over to 0 which makes perfect sense.
  3. Whoah, I thought I edited that. I think we're saying the same thing.
  4. How can it not be stored anywhere when you need x amount just to fire the cannon in the first place. And you get x amount for shooting, eating or catching the cannon return. In retrospect, I remembered it wrong, you don't die it just rolls over to zero Each Yar has a capacity of 255 TRONS. If a Yar tries to take on more than that, it will short out and the Yar will lose all its TRONS. but the count HAS to be stored somewhere
  5. I did 2600 -> Vectrex -> Commodore 64 (if that counts) -> 7800 -> Dreamcast -> Wii I don't count all the systems I have since acquired (O2, Coleco) and really I only bought the Vectrex because the system was $50 and all the games were $5 when the crash happened.
  6. Anyone ever get the Yar to "short out" by picking up more than 255 "trons" Where is that value in the code? I wanted to change it to 250 and then make it happen during gameplay just because
  7. When in doubt, RTFM. And if you find it boring, crank the difficulty to the max. What is it in Yars', game 6, difficulty left A? I forget if the right one does anything. That one's a nail biter.
  8. Would be so cool to get "clean" scans of these and other promo pieces like this. Not sure how big they are, assuming kinda big as they were meant for in-store display but a bit of card stock and a color printer and we could all make our own miniature versions for our game rooms.
  9. Asteroids was developed for the 5200 but never released. So it sorta qualifies.
  10. Everyone's mad at Nintendo but they have to protect their brand. This isn't Russia. Is this Russia? Do you take drugs, Danny? Good.
  11. Is there a rom? I'd be happy with just trying it out in Stella.
  12. The good thing is the monkeys telegraph if they will throw an apple high (which you can duck or punch) or low (which you can jump) and you can "bait" the apples falling from the top because they will drop as soon as they are directly over you, just "juke" them a bit. It's a lot to keep track of but you sorta get used to it after a bit. Wish you could fight the gorilla and the stack of monkeys on the 2600 but it's still a nice port of an obscure game.
  13. I was kinda working crappy contract jobs and not really in a position to spend money. I just assumed it would be there. Then kinda got confused when I couldn't find it in the store. Oh well. I snoozed and I loozed.
  14. Wow, I shoulda snapped one up. Figured at that price, they might linger. Oh well, there's always my C= 64. Honestly though I liked the game, I was never crazy about it. Though it is super impressive it's running on a 2600 and looks fantastic.
  15. What if you *DID* wanna buy one? Where and how much?
  16. Just to beat this into the ground, it wasn't meant to be who did it first, once someone else did it, it's not unique. Freeway, Frogger, the second screen of Congo Bongo. Similar. Disqualified. E.T., Superman, RaidersOTLA. (run around finding pieces of stuff to complete a mission) Adventure, Haunted House (find the treasure while avoiding bad guys) Pac-Man, Alien, Dodge'em, Lock N Chase etc (clear the dots from the maze) Commie Mutants, Spider Fighter, Galaxian (shoot the attacking bunch of whatevers) Enduro, Pole Position (behind the car racing) I would even say Barnstorming and Grand Prix are the same game Also isn't something like Sky Jinks just Skiing with an airplane There have a been a few mentioned here that truly seem to be outside the box of "here's another variation of Pong or Breakout or Space Invaders" but the rest, not so much. Maybe the old 2600 just did certain things well and programmers stuck with what worked. I mean ANY Galaxian/Space Invaders clone probably sold more than a game about a kid having to eat pancakes until he explodes.
  17. But it plays like Frogger. It may have been first but there are other games with similar gameplay.
  18. How is Communist Mutants not a Galaxian knock-off?
  19. Oh yeah, that one. Towering Inferno / Firefighter clone.
  20. I didn't take it as a personal attack, was just confused. There is probably a ZERO % chance that Party Mix influenced anything Nintendo did. Who even knows about it aside from obsessive Atari fans that frequent this site?
  21. Are these all gone? I kinda posted crazy drunken nonsense in this or the other thread, but the game is so absurd, I need one if possible.
  22. What crap? About Starpath? My initial post meant gameplay, not who came out with a party game or a gimmick controller. The games in Party Games are stripped down versions of existing games and genres. Racing (the first one), button mashing sports games (Tug Of War) etc. Not sure on Quadrun. I never understood it. Anyone wanna agree or disagree? Not trying to start a pissing contest, just decided I would try and beat Stampede! after all these years and thought it was a strange game. I don't remember anything else playing like it does. I guess you could say that it's a shooter since you "shoot" the cattle with your lasso if you wanna argue the point but even so is there another game where you can push them back up the screen and they can't get behind you. That was the original intent. I love a good argument though.
  23. Also isn't Beanie Bopper just another shooter? Ok so it scrolls and it has "beanies" but aside from that. Shoot enemies is the main theme
