  1. Raft Rider is kind of a racer, no? Similar elements, get down the river, avoid crashing into stuff. Blueprint and Reactor are arcade ports Mindmaster is similar to Tunnel Runner (and either way, a maze game from a different perspective) Marble Craze and RF are good choices though. BTW Raster Fahndung is flipping hard!
  2. The second screen of Ghost Manor is just Carnival/Shooting Gallery which has been done a thousand times. First screen chasing the ghost is kinda unique though. Not sure about other screens, I fired it up yesterday but only got two screens in Spike's Peak is a platformer/climber so I would say no to that If you count Adventure you surely can't count Haunted House as it's essentially Adventure but in a house instead of a magical kingdom. Find the treasure, avoid the enemies.
  3. I found Winter Games and California Games loose for 50 cents each. That's pretty good , no? Or maybe it was Summer Games. 2 of those 3 anyway (everything is boxed up since I got my CC2 years ago)
  4. Yeah Mangia is another weird game that seems to follow no trend Gopher seems to fit the bill too Plaque Attack is sorta Megamania (Astroblaster) meets Missile Command so I would say no.
  5. So a lot of games were arcade ports, knock-offs of arcade games (Megamania, Dodge 'em etc.) or representative of a genre that already existed (maze games, shooters, racing etc) but what games were sorta, hmmmm..... this is new! I'll start with Activision's Stampede! Roping cattle. WTF?! Was there anything like it before? What other examples are there?
  6. That ain't me, I will patiently wait. I don't "flip" Atari games. I have a job.
  7. Awww someone didn't get to eBay it to some chump for $100 before Xmas.
  8. I know you said no rom or bin available but what about for paying customers? I'd like to put it on my CC2 and save wear and tear on my system and the cart if possible.
  9. Wow, this is looking great. I was never a big fan of the arcade game, always found it too difficult to waste quarters on but would play the hell out of it at home.
  10. Cool vid. Now I have to watch the Dreamcast Hidden Gems and pull that baby outta moth balls.
  11. I have an old TV like that, with wood grain sides that I snagged from the basement of my old apt. building. Of course the 2600 is hooked up to it. Makes it more authentic!
  12. From the Centre Of Computing History: Other computers on the set include a CGL Sord M5, Oric Atmos, Amstrad CPC 464, Commodore 64, a homebrew Sinclair ZX81 (on top of the Altair 8800), Atari 2600 games console, Commodore PET, Apple Mac Plus, ZX Spectrum +2, the main PCB of an Acorn Atom and a ZX Spectrum Plus in its original box and various others around the set ...
  13. There's a whole mess of old computers including the legendary ZX-80 Spectrum on one of the shelves. That system was pretty huge in the UK was it not?
  14. Well, if he wasn't going to write it, maybe it's better there wasn't one. The special was called The Last Byte. Worth finding.
  15. Was there supposed to be a season 5? They wrapped things up pretty nicely with the 1 hour special. The Irish guy (forget his real name) said he'd like to do it again in 10 years after his character and Jen have been married and divorced and are still stuck in the basement doing IT support.
  16. Anyone else a fan of the show? Was watching The IT Crowd: Manual which was sort of a recap of the series and one of the things that I never noticed was one of the shelves had a stash of Atari 2600 games in beat up boxes that some fans had sent in to enhance the geekiness of the office
  17. You can only get 1080 points, so that's something to aim for. A perfect game. Then mess with the difficulty switches. Makes it insanely harder with a fast computer car and closer starting point
  18. I've been slacking on the 7800 posts but I played the bin in the first post, is that the latest version? game looks super cool but when bentley is walking he looks like he's having a stroke. is that left/right head thing gonna stay in the game?
  19. There are patterns. 30 years later I still remember them. Thank God I keep the important things up there and not the piano lessons or speaking Japanese.
  20. Wow, I was a bit pissed when I posted this. Thanks Christmas booze! For some reason I thought reusing the same sprite would cause flicker like in Pac-Man or is this using the sprite copy trick like you have in Combat when there are 3 jets? But I thought those all moved together and the small demons seem to move independently. Or is it just clever use of that method.
  21. So when you get to that stage when the demons split and dive bomb on you, how are there 2 of them moving independently with no flicker? What fancy trick is this?
  22. Damn, that will get released at some point though, right? Loved the first one.
