  1. Absolutely. I would add Millipede to the list as well. Never expected that game on the 2600 with pretty much everything from the arcade stuffed in there.
  2. That's cool. Mostly I'm mad at myself for missing out.
  3. Maybe I'm naive but dead games and dead systems make no sense to me. I mean what does an Atari 2600 version of BD mean to First Star? Would it cut into sales of any phone app games? Doubt it. They ripped off The Pit anyway, so who are they to squawk.
  4. The last time I used a soldering iron I destroyed my 7800. Oopsy!
  5. Is there desoldering or can you just yank it like a bad tooth?
  6. Why was the Boulder Dash rom never released? Even Nintendo doesn't care about Princess Rescue as long as it's not being sold.
  7. Can you rip a pokey out of an existing cart if you have one? BTW I love my CC2. Think I paid $375 for it on eBay several years ago Worth every penny
  8. Is the US/Japanese screen order supposed to work in this version? Cement Factory is always the second screen no matter what
  9. That doesn't bother me as much as the enemies getting stuck walking back and forth on a level and you've punched out holes so you can't even go up and kill yourself just to restart the round. Other than that, much more fun than I initially thought. Now I wanna try to clear the 4th castle.
  10. I never knew Hat Trick was "bad" until I started visiting this site. Always liked that game. Animation could be smoother but I always played the hell out of it. One On One Basketball is also kinda fun but too easy.
  11. I bought that one ages (atari ages) ago and have never played it. no idea why. i hope it works!
  12. Moon Cresta will have you pulling your hair out but it's a great port. Is Beef Drop still available? That one is also great.
  13. Wow, I just stumbled across this. Beautiful. Can't believe it's running on a 2600.
  14. Anyone know where in the code you can turn off sprite doubling when MD swings the hammer? I don't see a reason for him to inflate like that
  15. Well, I certainly hated it at first, but am liking it now. Gotta get to that fourth castle! More wine!
  16. Have you tried hitting it? rest button? that would be nice. i need to rest. crack that puppy open and clean out any gunk. probably a dead spider in there gumming it up
  17. Maybe it's the red wine and allergy meds, but I like it.
  18. Spiderman for sure needs a "game reset" to start it. And, as mentioned, Breakout uses paddles, newbie!
  19. OK, since we decided in another thread that this was a horrible game, I decided to play it for a bit. As a fan of the arcade game, I LIKE this version If you follow the manual and make sure MD's outer foot is in the gap between blocks, it's easier to knock them out, awesome Kicking the ladders, that also takes practice But don't ALL games dictate this? Are we all so jaded that any game where we can't roll the score after 3 plays, are terrible? Another annoying thing is sometimes, you can create a situation where the enemies just run back and forth and you're STUCK down below with no way to knock out a block or even get killed to restart the level (this is the BIGGEST sin IMO) But overall, a lot of fun. Try it. Read the online manual here. Also, play FULL SCREEN if you're in a emu, makes lining things up easier.
  20. And it's very impressive, but it's still 30 years after the fact and done at a leisurely pace with 30 years of "what not to do" behind us. As someone who works in software, there is so much shit involved, I'm surprised ANYTHING ever gets done. And more than once things were "finished" because it was promised by a certain date and not because it was a solid product. And as you mentioned, the tools make it easier today. You still have to be talented but you don't have to wrestle the development environment like back in the day when it took longer than 3 seconds to compile a binary for testing
  21. They all have their charms. I like the variety in the original though. Fast zig zaggy missiles with moving shields is pretty wild.
  22. Mr. Do's Castle. Got to the third castle today. And I've pretty much figured out how to bash the blocks out and kick the ladders. A little practice goes a long way.
