Sharknado Game (Atari 2600,7800 Programmers)
godzillajoe replied to neotokeo2001's topic in Atari 2600
Who says I have no chance of ever meeting her? How do you know I haven't already met her? Also, that was a joke. Crass, perhaps but that's my sense of humor. I have no ill feelings towards ms. reid. -

The cart should be lumpy. Like her gross stomach. -
Don't get me wrong, I love hearing about new stuff. But as we've seen from the XM, which is from a respected member of the community, things can get ugly.
-
In the future, maybe people should wait until something is "ready" before promoting it. It just leads to anger and frustration and stress to the guys making these things. An "idea" doesn't not require a pre-order thread.
-
The one you posted is the game without the text parts. The "game" is just a gfx hack of cosmic swarm. another lazy effort to say "I made an Atari game!" and you slap it on a cart and hope gullible "collectors" buy it.
-
That *is* the gameplay. The rest is just E.T. stories on a cart.

Air Raiders by Mattel (M-Network) != Air Raid which is a shitty game people pay hundreds of dollars for.
-
waste of time and money

Yeah, I don't get this one at all. I've done 1080 max score multiple times. Are you playing with the difficulty switches on A or not realizing you can change 2 lanes if you slow down? 30 years later I still remember the general patterns.

The OFFICIAL pre-order page for SPACE RAID ATARI Homebrew
godzillajoe replied to coleco_master's topic in Atari 2600
Actually pull me from this. I'll take my chances and hopefully will get one later. I'm sorta in-between jobs and shouldn't spend the $$$$ at the moment. Sorry. -

You can CRASH DK Jr. · BUG: On the 3rd screen, walk to the end of the platform you start on, and press the FIRE button. Junior will jump twice and the game will crash. Pressing either FIRE or RESET may bring it back, but the game will have some major glitches on all the screens (rolling screen, distorted graphics, etc. – pictures #4-#6). You may end up with a game with unlimited lives, or a blank screen. {Jim Goebel} Also, a line will appear through the block on the right set of vines, and also on top of the lower block on the left set, depending where the Snapjaws are. {Scott Stilphen} That alone makes it worse than E.T.

Everything is better with googly eyes!
-
Thanks!

But can you correct and eventually finish? Otherwise, that's awful. I was never a big fan of this game. Maybe I should give it a go.
-
What happens if you take the "wrong" path?
-
Yeah, that's why I played them. Unlike some people around here.

OK so there appear to be TWO version of Dig Dug for the computers. The "dog" is the earlier 1982 version. The better version was released in 1984 and is much nicer http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-dig-dug_12263.html
-
This list is Atari COMPUTER games, not the 2600. E.T. for the 400/800 is a completely different game. 400/800 Dig Dug *is* a bit dodgy but Q*Bert, I don't get it. Looks halfway decent and plays just fine. Don't know why they hate Zaxxon. That was decent. And it only took 20 minutes to load from cassette!
-
Does the 2600 have the power to pull this off? Something like Pitstop II?
-
But you would need the option to replace the guns with walkie-talkies.
-
The original GTA with the top down perspective was awesome. We had that on a server at work and every friday at 5, beers and network mayhem. That's an idea, networked, multi-player E.T.!
-
It's pretty rough for a released game. At least the one I just tried. Like someone typed it out of a magazine in Atari BASIC I always thought the 5200 version was just a port of the 400/800 version but now I know it's definitely not C= 64 version was much better. And that E.T on the list above is almost definitely E.T. Phone Home and not the 2600 version.

Not denying people hated E.T. back in the day but the internet really beat you over the head with it. Also, 45 in October, I'm hardly a "young 'un" Maybe it's because Atari meant hanging out with your friends and playing games. Alright sick of that one, put in Warlords......Phoenix..... We didn't dwell on it. But no one absolutely HATED it. I didn't learn I was supposed to hate it until much later
