  1. Atari Landfill Adventures might be fun

You're a hipster doofus. Avoid the bulldozers, landfill rats and seagulls as you try to dig up E.T. carts and get them to eBay

Of course the pits you dig as you search can kill you if you fall into them.

  2. SA is pretty OK. Enjoyed the rom and will probably grab a cart some day if available. Does it get harder at any point or is the difficulty constant? I don't remember exactly put it seems it just stayed at one level.

  3. Actually, I played it again and managed to get E.T. home. The hardest part is keeping the humans off the screen while waiting for the ship. But I just camped on the "Send Humans Away" spot until there were just a few seconds left and ran to the landing zone.

    10 minutes.

Yeah, this game is impossible!

  4. Whoah! Indy 500?! That game is a blast with two players.

I'm gonna beat E.T. this week.

All the hate has inspired me.

Gave it a quick go earlier and the pits are annoying but really the only time they're an issue is leaving the forest to the right and the buildings to the left

And even that can be remedied if you use the transport zones.

Now, the scientist and FBI bastards, they suck but you can either slam down the button and kick in the nitrous and run away or "send them home"

Difficult and frustrating at times, yes, but not unplayable.

And that's the last I have to say about it.

No one's gonna win the argument anway

  5.

More Tempest specifics here if curious.

If you're a 'Vector games' fan, although it can become quite pricey/costly, I highly recommend a unique console in your collection - Vectrex; it indeed would not be just "another console".

There is no console system like it and nothing home-based has come closer to the Vector game arcade experience. Its graphics are all vector based, just like the arcade games.

    Sites of interest:

And the best classic system controller ever. wish someone would rig those for use on Atari Systems.

  6.

And there's the problem. This is at a time when most games consisted of shooting at aliens coming down at you or eating dots in a maze. Anyone who has played ET without reading the manual throws their hands in the air and declares the game "stupid" because THEY, the player, have no idea what they're doing. Is that HSW's fault? Atari's fault? Nope, that's on the player.

I also wonder if people were expecting something different. Flying bikes, crazy chases.... Drew Barrymore passed out in a field...

  7. Oh yeah, Brix and JumpVCS, those look cool

Forgot about Zippy as well. Was never a Sonic fan but it seemed like a lot of work went into that one, props for that

These types of games, not so much

  8. I may have posted this before, but hey, I haven't slept in almost 24 hours, so sue me

Also, I've been pretty critical of bB in the past, still am, but my rage has shifted to the "programmers" and not the tool

That said, what games represent the BEST of what the tool has to offer.

Donkey Kong is a bB WIP right? Is that still being developed?

Endless Snow is a fun little winter game

Gingerbread Man was bB with some inline ASM right?

    Princess Rescue of course

    What else?

  9. I shoved the game in my Atari today, and trust me, it still sucks. That's why I feel a parody game about burying ET would be more fun than the actual thing, or a remake of it. A remake of a sucky game is still a sucky game. A parody of a sucky game based on real life events of burying said sucky game is very clever.

Designing and coding E.T. is clever. Mocking it on the internet, not so much.

Played the fixed version that RT posted a link to up above.

Is it the best game ever, no?

But it's decent and the fixes raise it up a bit

We played the "broken" version quite a bit when it was first released and knew how to avoid the pits and get out of them and how to solve the game

If you just run around like a moron, falling into pits, that sucks. But so does your ability as a gamer.

I'm not calling *YOU* a moron, just saying the whole "worst game ever" was likely started by some idiot hipster who had no idea what they were doing.

You don't have to like it, that's cool.

But worse than Mythicon games? Worse than the "adult" games? Or Karate?

    No.

It's like when people in internet comments sections say "I don't watch SNL because it hasn't been funny in years"

  10. Let's add this to the mix.....

What game starts out OK and becomes insane?

Mine would be Cosmic Ark. I NEVER successfully captured all the planet beasties. The lasers are impossible. And if you get blasted, the asteroid fields just get faster and faster to where I think it's too much.

Stampede! 10,000 points? In my dreams.

Communist Mutants From Space. Perfectly fine little Galaxian clone that starts out normal enough and rapidly becomes hell. Start on Level 9, tell me you lasted longer than 60 seconds.

No Escape! Once the enemies can shoot you from the other side of the screen, no escape becomes no chance.

  11. Starship inflated and fired up my imagination quite impressively back then. I even made a cockpit out of cardboard and pillows next to my bed just for this game.

    That is awesomely nerdtastic.

  12. I have only played a few games so far but I think in terms of gameplay missile command is a very difficult game to play well.

Compared to the arcade version it's a piece of cake. Second only to Defender for ass kicking and quarter stealing.

  13. Running around like a lunatic is sorta my thing

Anyway, I'm just BS'ing ideas, take 'em or leave 'em.

RevEng seems to know what he's doing, the game looks great already and I'll definitely need a cart when it gets released.

  14. I would add the incentive to keep moving. In the video above, it seems like you can just park in one spot and fire away. Where's the fun in that?

  15. What we were talking about last night.....A timed game where you are operating a bulldozer and have a limited amount of time to bury as many ET carts as possible.

I'm sure someone will slap together an untested bB version tomorrow and it'll be $40 CIB. Stay tuned. Make sure you get a low number for your eBay resell.

  16. This is coming along nicely. Good job. Do the humans just follow you around? It would be cool if you could drop them off somewhere and get a nice bonus for saving all of them. Or if they were "armed" and shot in the opposite direction of your shots. Kinda like picking up the second ship in Galaga. Gives you incentive to rescue them.
