  1. Love when "gamers" have no idea of history. As a baseball fan, I never saw Lou Gehrig play. But I know who he is. There are people out there who don't know who The Beatles are. With so much technology at your fingertips, people are somehow getting lazier and dumber.
  2. Back in the day I made it to the last boss ship and could never beat it. Gonna try doing that with my USB Atari stick. Plays like a dream in DosBox but weirdly enough if you have it windowed you can't see your own shots. Luckily today's computers can handle full screen and no frame skip without breaking a sweat.
  3. Oh, another one that I've been playing on my PC lately. Silpheed. It came out in 1988 but a 7800 port would have been cool
  4. Don't get me wrong, I'd be the first in line for a heavy sixer re-release with modern outputs or a C= 64 (and for the love of God, a QWERTY keyboard) with USB for both (roms and disk images) and built in 5 1/4 and 3 1/2" drives. I would over-pay for those.
  5. It's a cool idea but they're not Atari games because they won't play on an Atari system. You can't just say "it has blocky graphics so it's an Atari game"
  6. How would making Wreck It Ralph or Indiana Jones "cost nothing to make" ? I work in software. But not for free. Also, $50-100 for a game you can get on eBay for $4 is not a good business model.
  7. No controller will help those sorry games
  8. Ant Eater was supposedly finished. Wish it was dumped and released. What's the point in holding on to it? At most you'd get a couple thousand for it. Hardly retirement money.
  9. Until right now, I didn't know this was a PADDLE game. No wonder it never made sense.
  10. Is it considered "finished" ? Someone should finish Elevator Action. Never understood buying a half-playable game.
  11. BTW Stunt Cycle *does* exist, right? Though it was never released.
  12. Get a Dreamcast. I love mine. Lots of great games. You can always check out Atari games in an emulator.
  13. I liked Rally-X but I sucked at it which is why I'd love a home version. No wasting precious quarters. That's why I never played Defender or Asteroids in the arcade. I could last much longer on Galaga or something else.
  14. There was a decent port for the NES, would have killed for this on the 7800
  15. Yeah, I know some are protos and WIP home brews, just going by "back in the day" Also, Elevator Action was a bit dodgy as far as collision detection etc. But it showed real promise.
  16. I'm a 2600 optimist, I love the idea of what CAN be done. It's like art. Look at something like Mario Bros. It's sorta like the arcade but not quite. Still a fun game. So I'm all for something like Zoo Keeper just to see what they'd have done. That's why, despite the flaws, I like Zaxxon for the 2600. My personal list: Monaco GP, Moon Cresta, Rally-X, Galaga, Kick-Man, Space Dungeon, Space Fury, Anteater, Black Widow, Bubbles, Fast Freddie, Satan's Hollow, Super Pac-Man, Zoo Keeper, Tron, Donkey Kong 3, Elevator Action, Food Fight, Mad Planets, Circus Charlie, Hat Trick, Paperboy, Star Force, Tag Team Wrestling, 1942
  17. What in-house games could Atari have ported. Their arcade games 1984-1986. Some of these might have been nice. Assuming not half-assed like many of their games. From this selection I think Paperboy, Gauntlet (esp. if there was a way to MacGyver 4 player mode), Marble Madness (sold as pack-in with Trak-Ball) and Rolling Thunder would have shifted a few units. TX-1 Atari 1984 Videogame Firefox Atari 1984 Videogame Return Of The Jedi Atari 1984 Videogame Paperboy Atari Games 1984 Videogame E.T. Atari Games 1984 Videogame Last Starfighter The Atari Games 1984 Videogame Marble Madness Atari Games Peter Pack Rat Atari Games 1985 Videogame Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom Atari Games 1985 Videogame Road Runner Atari Games 1985 Videogame Empire Strikes Back Atari Games 1985 Videogame Gauntlet (PlayChoice) Atari Games 1985 Videogame Gauntlet Atari Games Super Sprint Atari Games 1986 Videogame 720 Degrees Atari Games 1986 Videogame Rolling Thunder Atari Games 1986 Videogame Championship Sprint Atari Games 1986 Videogame Gauntlet II Atari Games 1987 = Xybots, Road Blasters, APB and Blasteroids
  18. I don't think I've ever finished a race without blowing up the engine.
  19. Dodge' em?! I still remember the patterns from 30 years ago. That might be a fun one to bust out though.
  20. I was in HS and worked at Child World (Children's Palace) in 1986. The 2600 Jr. sold a bit but I don't remember the 7800 moving all that much. Seemed like people wanted home computers above all of them.
  21. I don't mean like Space Shuttle where without some documentation, forget it. I mean just ass kicking hard. My vote goes to Jr. Pac-Man. Can ANYONE clear the first board without losing a life? Feel free to add your choices including..... You should try playing X, game variation Y with difficulty switches set to....... It's poker night this weekend and we may break out the Atari after a few beers Need a good challenge
  22. He's not a gamer. Also, how "funny" would it be if he just played the games and was awesome at them. Of course he was half-assing it and making stupid comments. That would be like MST3K talking about how great the movie they're riffing is. I'm a huge Conan fan but he was not the right fit for The Tonight Show. But that's for another board, not this one.
  23. Catching up on some old episodes. Maybe this was posted before, I don't remember it. This should make some of you mad. :-) I kinda found it amusing. Reminds me of most guys on YouTube who review games. Clueless. http://teamcoco.com/video/clueless-gamer-throwback-edition-atari-2600
