Why did Atari change the Galaxian to the Atari logo in the 5200 version? They had the rights to Galaxian. Was it "just because?"
-
Of course I have to say some sorta Godzilla game War Games (even a port of the Coleco Vision game) The Road Warrior Buckaroo Banzai Cannonball Run
-
this is the 7800 joypad not the stick with one button on each side.

Custer's Revenge, like General Goerge A. Custer, Battle Of Little Big Horn and all that Custard is a type of pudding Quick, someone homebrew Custard's Revenge! Mmmmm.....custard.......

Is there a list? Just curious. I'm in a "posty" mood today. Blame the Harpoon IPA.

Is there a purple? Now I can't remember. This is what the manual says. POINTS ACTIVITY 70,000 Swirl triples in frequency and sometimes fires instantly. Shield turns blue. 150,000 Swirl returns to normal frequency but will remain in mid-air to hit you. Shield turns grey. 230,000 Swirl again triples in frequency and sometimes fires instantly. Shield turns pink.

Well I'm sufficiently bored and drunk enough to finally try this and crap, it requires soldering. Gonna need some help with this project considering I don't have a soldering iron and haven't done work with one since the grade.

When I was a kid I wrote to the Atari Club magazine and asked what the black lines were. They never responded. Bastards! I sorta figured they had something to do with objects moving around since they seemed to follow on-screen activity. I think that question may have also been the first thing I ever posted to this forum as well!

For instance if I pop in Asteroids, I may not remember which variation will present me with the most challenge (Game 32 with difficulty on 'A') Sure I could always look at the manual but if there's already a place for it, we could just link to it or maybe even print it out from time to time and keep it with our 2600 for a quick reference For Missile Command it would be Game 15, Difficulty A Just a simple table with one line for each game that could be updated Good idea or bad?

1. No end 2. When you clear level 99 it goes back to level 1 and is easy again 3. Score rolls at 999,999 and goes back to zero No way I could see someone achieving #2 or #3. I cheated and used the Stella debugger to start at level 99 with 999,990 points.

Well I cracked her open and took out the part with the keys and it works great now! Awesome game. I haven't played Jawbreaker in about 20 years and then only on the Atari 400, never on a 2600.

Does anyone have this cart? Doesn't seem to fit in my 7800. What can you do to make it fit?
-
A 2600 version of Jeff Minter's Gridrunner would be awesome
-
Of the various carts that let you dump roms and play them on your actual 2600/5200/7800 how many are still available and what are the pluses and minuses of each? I would like to pick one up for my 5200 and one for my 7800 (hopefully that lets you play 7800 AND 2600 games since I don't have a 2600 hooked up right now)

Games you were excited for..then disappointed with

I never played the arcade game so I loved the 2600 version -
If Dennis ever completes that Pac-Man, I'll definitely buy one. The Pac-Man Arcade hack based on Ms. Pac-Man is nice but this one seems like it could even surpass that one. I wish the home brew guys would re-do some of the classics. Starting with Donkey Kong!

Popeye looked bad but played rather like the arcade game. Congo Bongo really sucked but the arcade game wasn't all that great either. That's not to say they weren't a disappointment to some4 people -
It's definitely not offsides. I don't think you can even have offsides in RS Soccer. Nothing is mentioned in the manual. I guess it is just some goofy bug or "sprite control" Oh well.
-
Offsides is going left to right towards the goal, not up and down Here's my situation, badly diagrammed x o ............................... y The thing in the game is player 'x' cannot reach the ball so I have to have player 'y' go get it even though he's a mile away. Very annoying. (I had to put the dots in there to simulate space)

What is wrong with the arcade version as far as gameplay?
-
Too bad Sinistar was never finished maybe someone could have hacked some Gene Simmons makeup onto him
-
Nope, more for the HTML versions. The scanned ones I can re-size manually like you said. The HTML ones, I guess I could stick into MS Word and change the font size, I just wondered if there was some way I could just click and print without having to worry about it. Faster that way. Figured there might be some sort of print utility or browser plug-in that I don't know about.

I would have to say Solaris. I never had this in the initial run but recently got a copy and I dunno, seems pretty "eh." Maybe I should read the manual but it just seems like a fancier Buck Rogers Planet Of Zoom. -
I'm trying to print some of the manuals on AA for the games which I don't have them Anyone know of any utilities, tips or tricks for getting them looking halfway decent? When I print them right from IE 6, stuff seems to get cropped

Sadly, it seems a lot of Atari titles got the "screw it, it's good enough" treatment And of course that wasn't going to cut it once the NES came out
