  1. It sure does but you have to set the left difficulty switch to 'A' for the music to play. Or is it the RIGHT one? Either way, one of them Never understood why they did that.
  2. I had an Atari 7800 and Galaga and brought it over a friend's house because we always hung out there and ended up playing games. Galaga got a lot of action. Then the friend got a NES and after playing the NES Galaga, the Atari one was forgotten about Nintendo Hockey and Baseball also contributed to killing any interest I had in the 7800 and 2600 for years. Still, when it was the only Galaga available it was OK for what it was. But no where near as good if you do a side by side comparison.
  3. 1970's Genesis. Change it to a Lamb Lies Down On Broadway game. You have to help Rael navigate his way through the story.
  4. Private Eye, Dragonfire I have a soft spot for Space Cavern as well
  5. Where can I find an online manual for this game? I checked AA's 2600 manual page but came up empty. Not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do in each stage Seems like it randomly switches screens after I either succeed or fail each level but exactly what is the object of each level? 1: Shoot anything that moves and don't get shot 2: Shoot that blob thing in the middle 3: Shoot that dots that attack your ship It's not that simple is it?
  6. Is there some game mechanic or a bug that keeps your guy from moving up or down further in some instances. Sometimes when I go for the ball, my guy gets stuck and can't go any further and I have to call another guy to come get it instead who's halfway down field. Is there some logic in the code that keeps two guys off of the same horizontal plane or something? I hope it's not a busted controller. I just got a pair of new sticks from Best and this is the first time I've had the chance to really give them a workout.
  7. I'd pay for one that could also open beers!
  8. The idea is certainly nuts but I didn't find it all that interesting to play. Maybe I gotta try it again. Seemed too easy and awfully repetitive if I remember correctly.
  9. Was Combat for sale after it stopped being the pack-in game? Or during the time it was free, could you buy a copy if you somehow lost or broke your original cart? When did they switch over to Pac-Man? It DID sell a zillion copies before they started giving it away so it should count for something.
  10. I wouldn't count Combat since it was included for "free" for so long.
  11. I know but I wanted cold hard numbers, how can you tell if Asteroids sold more than Missile Command? They're both commons. Just curious as to what the top ten really were.
  12. That's pretty cool. Almost plays like foosball
  13. How is the M-Network game for the 2600? It's two player only right?
  14. Wow, I loved Hardball on the C= 64. If only that were ported to the 7800. So I just finished another game of Pete Rose and whipped poor old Stella 15-1 Had a shutout going into the 6th when she got a hold of one. I've hit a few more doubles lately and can see a scenario where you can even get the occasional triple A few more weird things: - There's a pitch you can throw that will make the computer ground to 3rd or 2nd 99% of the time - Always send the runners since you can't be doubled up on fly balls - If you send a runner from third and they cross the plate before the ball is caught in the air, the run counts! - Always try for extra bases as you can always go back at the last second but the computer will just hold the ball until you get back to the previous base, not trying to get you out Still, despite its faults, I'm addicted to this game. Gotta resist the "magic pitch" cheat though
  15. Yeah I guess I just wish it was that slight 5% better but for the 2600 it's a lot more fun and playable than anything else. I've played it once a night for a week straight But you're right, you could pick ANY game and wish for one or two teaks to make it better
  16. This is generally regarded as the best baseball game for the 2600 But I'm not sure that's saying much Compared to Home Run and Realsports Baseball, it may be better looking and play slightly better but it still has a ton of flaws that drag it down. - Hitting consists mainly of singles and home runs, I think I hit a double once by sheer luck. The runners are too slow and the fielders are too fast - You can be thrown out at first from the outfield - You can be thrown out at second from anywhere, even hits into the corners, making extra base hits next to impossible - The infield fielding mechanics are maddening at times because each player occupies some vague "zone." A ball hit an inch to the left of the pitcher will often have to be fielded by the third baseman?! - No hit and run option - No way to steal - No way to bunt - Pitcher is always a lefty, batter is always a righty So why does this get an A- on places like Video Game Critic? I would give it a C at best. With some tweaking, this could have been a great game. One thing that I might change is that running from first to second the guys would be "normal" speed but from second to third etc., they would be slightly faster making extra base hits possible. Or if a ball is hit out of the infield, make the guys running faster to simulate the extra effort a guy might put in because he knows the ball is headed for the gap. Some mechanic to steal and hit and run would also be a huge addition. Maybe tweak the fielding "zone" thing somwhow Anything else you could probably live with as is Anyone else play this game and have any opinions? How does the 7800 compare?
  17. Why does your 7800 only play 7800 games?
  18. I'm guessing this has been discussed before but is there a list of games for the 2600 that sold the most copies in the USA I gotta figure Pac-Man is king and Pitfall, Adventure, Asteroids, Missile Command have gotta be up there. Maybe E.T., Demon Attack, Ms. Pac-Man, River Raid after that? Anyone know of such a list?
  19. Plugs into a USB port on your PC and lets you use an Atari joystick for emulators and such. I need another one but it doesn't seem you can get them anymore
  20. I always thought INTV owners were idiots. Who cares about sports games, the arcade games sucked and the controllers were terrible Then I was given one by a friend who was sick of his and it wasn't THAT bad of a system. I rather liked playing Dracula. So yeah, I was kind of a snob I turned my back on Atari when I got a C= 64, I thought getting an Atari computer was a bad idea. Man the Commie scene was hot back then. Games games and more games.
  21. There's a trick to it and once you sorta figure it out it becomes only mostly horrible. The fish are too danm big and change direction too much.
  22. Worst I own? Ssssnake is pretty bad. Cosmic Creeps is up there. Just doen't seem to be any point or challenge to them at all
  23. Do the driving controllers work with Slot Racers? Paddles right? Is it just because it was the only other racing game for the 2600 at that time?
  24. To this day I haven't found a good baseball game on ANY console. The computer gets too good if it starts losing or the controls are funky or you either score home runs or singles. The last game I tried was MLB 2K2 for the Dreamcast though. The fielders were mental in that one. And if you were leading the computer it would just start smashing doubles down the line at will until it retook the lead by about 5 runs. The original NES baseball was probably the most fun but that game cheated like crazy if you were leading to the extent that it would stop your guy from reaching first and throw him out on a shot into the left field corner which should have been at least a double.
  25. I just got the 2600 version of Pete Rose so I'll have to give that a try tonight after the real Red Sox game.
