What games do you guys consider too easy or too hard after a while as to limit your gaming experience? For me, Video Pinball has no replay value because once you get the hang of it, you can go forever. Then there are games like Berzerk which get impossible to play because of the difficulty Though I'd rather have a game get harder than be boring and easy any day Your thoughts?

I don't understand the whole 'he never played it' thing Even if that is true, it was the most popular game of all time. Take a walk down to the pizza joint or mall and take 5 minutes to watch some kid play it or drop a quarter in yourself. That's a pretty lame excuse. And I can't see Atari purposely doing a bad Pac-Man. The 2600 had the largest user base of any system and why would you wanna screw them over? I'm guessing it was more arrogance and 'they'll buy anything' mentality
-
Just for fun, I wanna see if there's enough songs to make an "Atari mix" CD I'll start with Frank Black's "Whatever Happened To Pong?" and Captain Funkaho's "My 2600" No Buckner and Garcia allowed.

What's wrong with Kangaroo? Not a bad port at all. And the whole "stick ruins the game" argument is overblown. I got used to it pretty quickly. I only wish they had included the big ape you could fight with.
-
Another question I have to ask is would other people still exist in this fantasy world? I would definitely pick a two player game if someone else was around to play it with.

Doy again. If I actually ENABLE the joystick in MESS it works. Awesome. I gotta get me another Stelladaptor for my party. That way when the real 7800 is in use, people can use the emu.
-
Holy hell, the Stelladaptor works with MAME just by enabling joystick support. Totally awesome. Don't I feel like a doofus...

Contact me off-list at [email protected] and we can work out a deal of some kind. Which ones were you interested in?
-
Thanks! I didn't even realize I changed it somehow. All better!

Maybe a stupid question but why do all the posts look like this now when I log in? Is there a way to change this?

Permanent Paddle Fixer Proposal--any interest?
godzillajoe replied to supercat's topic in Atari 2600
Yeah me too, I'm lazy about taking stuff apart and I would probably ruin them anyway so if you want to charge me to fix my paddles forever, I would pay for the service. I don't care if it's not "original" as long as they work and there aren't wires and crap hanging off of them. -
how many doubles of one game do yo have in your collection?
godzillajoe replied to jboypacman's topic in Atari 2600
Sure, you got something for me in return? Anything I don't have, I'll take. -
Commons that I have more than one of, I figure maybe someone wants to trade for one they might not have before I eBay them or whatever. Joust, Qix, Super Breakout, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Kangaroo, Space Invaders, Pole Position, Galaxian, Defender, Centipede, Berzerk I will take almost any 2600, 5200 or 7800 game in return that I don't have.

Is there a way to get something like MAME or MESS to recognize it? BTW I can't believe I waited so long to get one, really cool to be able to use a 2600 stick when I wanna run off a quick game of something. Now if only you could somehow navigate the UI with the stick, it would be perfect for lazy Sunday mornings when you don't wanna get outta bed. Can the next version of Stella make coffee?
-
Yeah I forget the rules but certain enemies have to take ladders up or down when they encounter one no matter what. Are 7800 Beef Drop and Q*Bert for sale in cart form?

(2) Lock 'N' Chase (2) Missile Command (3) Pac-Man (2) Phoenix (2) Pressure Cooker (2) Q*bert (2) Raiders Of The Lost Ark (2) Riddle Of The Sphinx (2) Space Jockey (2) Stampede (2) Star Raiders (2) Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (2) Swordquest: Earthworld (2) Warlords (2) Yar's Revenge (5) If anyone for some reason needs one of these, I'll trade ya for one of your extras I don't have. Doesn't even have to be a GOOD game, I'd rather have one bad one I don't have than five of a good one -
Thanks! I was searching in "Reviews"

In my quest for simultaneous two player games, I am gonna buy Gunfight and Warring Worms and wanted to check out Go Fish because it sounds like fun but would like to try it out first, is there a rom image available anywhere? Anyone have any opinions on these games especially Gunfight and Warring Worms in two player mode? Good "party / drinking" games Also, any other games I should get? I was thinking of getting Oystron too.

Nice, I just got me one of these t-shirts too http://www.dieselsweeties.com/shirts/playoldvideogames/

I think you just press it. Haven't really used it in a while though. It won't work on any 2600 games either. And I hate how the difficulty switches are "backwards" with B (easy) to the left and A (hard) to the right
-
Thanks for the info guys. Now I'm having second thoughts. Maybe I'll get one instead of 2 and see if I like it. What controllers WOULD you recommend for the 7800, I generally use original 2600 sticks and have a couple of the proline sticks for the two button games but they're in need of repair or cleaning as going left seems to stick quite a bit
-
Thinking of getting a couple of these. How do they respond to use/abuse? Are there any types of games they aren't good for (Centipede, Robotron, Ms Pac-Man, sports games....) Do the 2600 games work well with them (not that there should be any difference)
-
Is the music from Wizard Of Wor anything? It sure SOUNDS familiar though that might just be my imagination since I've heard it a million times since the game first appeared in the arcades
-
I've been addicted to 7800 Donkey Kong lately. That game is HARD. But that's good because it keeps me interested. 7800 Dig Dug is also pretty damn hard and a great port. Joust, Ms Pac-Man, Robotron, Food Fight and Galaga are also quite good IMO My paltry collection consists of: Asteroids (2) Ballblazer Choplifter! Dig Dug Food Fight Galaga Hat Trick Joust Mario Bros. Mat Mania Challenge Ms. Pac-Man One On One (2) Pole Position II Robotron 2084 Xevious

OK this is an offshoot from the Fantastic Voyage thread where we argued whether the Vanguard power-up music was Vultan's Theme by Queen from the Flash Gordon movie. What other games, arcade port or otherwise use famous musical pieces in them? The ones I can think of immediately are Donkey Kong Jr. and Gyruss which use Bach's Toccata and Fugue and Journey Escape which uses their Don't Stop Believin' Any others?
