  1. I think that's spot on. With such low resolution and only 16 colours to work with, you don't really need that many tools. Copy and paste, zoom and lines - what more could you need? Personally, I love Degas Elite, but that may be because I came across it first, learnt it's foibles and could never get on with anything else!
  2. The ST version of Bombjack is a nice port. This game lives and dies by how well you can control the titular Jack, and it feels really responsive and quick on the ST. The only problem is that in squishing the play area to the 320x200 ratio, it makes it a little more difficult to avoid some of the enemies' attack patterns. After all, Jack's vertical movement is much quicker than his horizontal, which suits the taller resolutions of the arcade version. Thanks for sharing, Fletch!
  3. Bloody hell, Fletch. Well done! I think retiring is a great idea, if only for your occular health! That and the fact that the next milestone is 200 and I think you might lose your sanity before your eyesight if you attempt that! No. It's weird, because they clearly know who I am, but I don't know who they are. :/ I have a feeling they would rather stay anomymous, whoever it is.
  4. Maybe this document will be of some help: http://www.atari-forum.com/wiki/index.php/ST_Picture_Formats
  5. Congratulations on the release, SSB! I can't wait to try this later. More fodder for my Ultrasatan! (It is HD compatible, right? )
  6. That is correct, at least for the moment. Some folks are working on creating an image file of a card formatted and partitioned with HDDriver's TOD/DOS mode that can be read by the ICD driver. In the mean-time, if you want a PC and Atari compatible card, you can use Ppera's method here (scroll down for info on how to get XP to recognise partitions, the under that is the link to the driver). Pros: Windows can read all the partitions on the card. Cons: Limited to <1gb, Driver only recognises first card.
  7. Any more details of this Drive Imager? Is it free? Windows or Linux? Where can I get it?
  8. I remember Ani ST being really easy to use. (It was given away on a ST Format Cover Disk).
  9. Have you tried the version on Cynix compilation disk 3?
  10. You don't need a plug-in, but for some bizarre reason, you dp have to tell it to use all available picture formats. If I remember correctly there is a checkbox hidden away somewhere in the options/preferences. Sounds fiddly, but I heartily recommend Xnview, really easy to use and you can convert your PCs pictures into PI1 format!
  11. Here is my review, with screenshots and gameplay vid: http://thejoyofsticks.wordpress.com/2009/07/12/r0x-review/
  12. Wow! Truly excellent news. I will look forward to your first releases!
  13. Any STFM with 1MB of RAM and a double sided floppy drive will suffice. Some later games are STE only, but lots of early games cause problems on STE. If you ensure that your TV can display both 50 and 60 hz then you can use both European and US software/games. If you can't get hold of a 1MB machine, 512k of RAM is suitable for many games (especially earlier ones) and are easier to find/cheaper to buy. Please feel free to ask any further questions - as mentioned www.atari-forum.com is full of knowledgeable folk very tolerant of newcomers.
  14. Thanks for the plug, Christos. You are so right about feedback - it can be the difference between a fellow packing it all in and buggering off to an 8-bit system or sticking around and keeping the ST scene alive. It's funny how these things ebb and flow isn't it? One minute it's quiet and you're wondering where the next release might come from and then you're bombarded from all sides by lovely fuji-shaped stuff! Personally, I'll always use my ST for games, music, coding and pixel-pushing even if I'm the only bloke in the world doing so, and I still find it amazing that there are people out there to share my obscure hobby with. I'm off to tell D-Bug how bloody marvellous I think they all are...
  15. Thanks for sharing, Matt. I enjoy your reviewing style: very easy to listen to and very informative. You can have a look at my written review of DM here. You may be able to tell from the review that I am also a big DM fan! It came top in The Great Atari ST Game Survey last year too.
  16. A cracked version of Gauntlet is on Automation #73. You can download it here.
  17. On STeem you can capture sound but not movies, which is a shame. I use SnagIt to capture both, then Ulead video studio to convert it to You Tube friendly file before uploading. Works for me, you can see the results on my website.
  18. Just want to echo what I said over at atari-forum.com for those who do not frequent that particular establishment: I heartily recommend moneybookers.com to pay for your UltraSatan (it is now available as a payment option on the (pre)order page - just log in to change your payment method). It works very similar to PayPal, excepting the fact that they aren't a bunch of 'so-and-so's. Took me about three days to set up an account, transfer money to it and for Mikro to get the payment. "Now waiting for shipment" - sweet.

  20. There is a nifty search option in the latest version of Steem's disk image explorer... Sorry about the patronising and intelligence-insulting pics, but I just got a copy of Snag-It and I'm currently 'snagging' everything that moves.
  21. Thanks for your nominations, guys! I will add videos of the intros to my YouTube channel when finished so they are there for prosperity (esp. NSP and Thunderhawk if they are indeed missing!)
  22. I have edited the title of the post to make things clearer: we want your favourite title screens! Also, any ST game is viable, Christos.
  23. Your call Christos! Nominate what you like, though I may create two separate lists for Intros and Screens. I'm not adhering to such a strict rule set for this vote.
  24. The Great Atari ST Game Survey isn't dead yet! Have a look here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133772
  25. Ok, the Top 50 was well received and enjoyable to compile, so I've decided to extend the survey. Next up, as I was inspired by a particularly tasty one while playing earlier this week (I won't mention it as I don't want to influence the voting) we're going to cover loading screens! Here's what I need: Your favourite title screens! You can nominate up to five and the order does not matter. Again I will collate the votes into a table and present the results. Cheers, Stickhead o-[]:-)
