  1. I had a find yesterday at the local thrift shop -- 7 carts, 50cents apiece -- Pac-Man, Enduro, Ghostbusters, Keystone Kapers, and a few others I can't remember... not too bad for a place that never has anything...
  2. Yes it would -- I just left it in after the edit, since I was being lazy -- I think that model would work nicely -- I could probally even setup a nice switchbox so that I could have the 2600 and the 800xl connected as once -- maybe even bring the TI-99/4A and Apple IIc out of the closet, but those just aren't as fun as the Ataris I think that's gonna be my solution, but I would still be happy to hear other recomendations... especially if I can get the Mac monitors to work
  3. Interesting product, but seems a little bit pricey I'll keep it on my list, though. I'm assuming because of interlace, that putting together a circuit to do this would be pretty tough. EDIT -- Doh! I looked at the wrong thing $70 seems much better than the $270 model -- but the $270 model appears to have multiple inputs... decisions, decisions I know you can get the video cards that have S-Video input on them -- I wonder if it would be possible to modify something like that? I could probally get one of those cards for cheap -- but, I really don't want to have to route the output from the Atari through a PC If I stay with composite monitors, what would be the best bet? I'm sure I can find something, as long as I know exactly what I'm looking for
  4. I'm trying to find what options I have for connecting a monitor to my 800XL. I have plenty of old monitors lying around, and I would like to use them. I know I can connect a plain old composite monitor up, but I want something a bit nicer. I have some pretty nice (but useless for modern machines) Macintosh monitors -- I would love to see the 800 XL use that I've heard of adaptors to get a VGA output, and seen stuff for S-Video... Another option, if I could find one, would be to use a ST monitor -- that would at least give it that proper feel, even if there never was an official Atari monitor for the 8-bits So, basically, I want to get some feedback on this -- what do people use for monitors, and more specifically, has anyone gotten a Mac monitor to work with a 800 XL? BTW, I'm not affraid to whip out the soldering iron to get a monitor to work -- I just need some direction before I warm up the iron
  5. I just got one of these as well -- actually, two of them One has a normal socket, the other has a different type of socket that looks like it prevents the pins from being bent. There are probally 40 or so ROMs and EEPROMS, but I haven't had much of a chance to play with them yet I got this, a 2-switch and a Sears 4-switch, a box of joysticks, paddles, and other cables, another box full of 2600 games (most of them common stuff, but still nice ), a 1200xl, 800xl, 1050, 810, and 410 -- and some other atari stuff -- my dad actually had this in the basement and he never got around to doing anything with it all The good thing is most of it all works pretty good -- the 2600s need some minor repair work, but nothing that a little work with the soldering iron won't fix

I loved frantick (but was too poor at the time to register it) He's not anymore... it's been almost 10 years since he did anything for the ST. He's been focusing his efforts on Windows programs now. But, apparently, there are still fans of his games all over the world
  7. quote: Originally posted by Albert: I just sent mail to Dennis Munsie, who is responsible for the Mac OS version of MESS, asking if he's still working on it. Also asked if there are any plans for carbon or cocoa versions. Looks like it hasn't been updated in some time, as the last Mac version was released over a year ago! The source is available, though, so if Dennis is no longer interested in maintaining Mac MESS, I might take a stab at it. [...time passes...] Well, my mail to Dennis bounced, so I'll have to see if I can find another address for him. The one I tried is the one listed on the MESS home page, [email protected] Does anyone have a more current email address for him? ..Al [ 01-19-2002: Message edited by: Albert ] Why, hello -- this is Dennis. As stated by someone else, @Home is no longer around. But, that's not the reason why it bounced -- I moved last year, and that email address didn't follow. I only worked on MacMESS for one release -- that was when the "new MESS" came out. Afterwards, since I didn't have the time, someone else took over the MacMESS ports. I still have an interest in MacMESS, but I haven't actually been able to contribute in quite a while -- but the last time I checked, I was still in the README...
